Miami magic from Steve Alaimo – quite a big record back in the day, and a set with a surprisingly soulful undercurrent too! There's a fair bit of tears on the record – as most tunes continue the "cry" theme started by the big title hit – and production almost feels like some of that wonderful uptown soul from the New York scene of the mid 60s – echoes of sadness mixed with swinging soul, handled by Steve in a really great way. A few tunes are more crossover pop numbers, but there's plenty of grittier cuts too – and titles include "Every Day I Have To Cry", "I Don't Want To Cry", "I Cried All The Way Home", "Cry Me A River", "I Wake Up Crying", "Cry Myself To Sleep", and "Don't Cry". © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
