Incredible early material from The Dells – initial sides done for Vee Jay Records, most of which are in a very hard-hitting doo wop mode! The Dells were one of the key forces in the Chicago group soul scene of the late 50s, and hearing these tracks it's easy to tell why – because there's a raw depth, sincerity, and sense of humanity here that's amazing – a bold sound in the pre-soul years, voiced by one of the few groups who effortlessly made the transition to the genre as the 60s moved in. The package not only includes a huge number of early Dells singles for Vee Jay from the late 50s, but also features most of their obscure mid 60s album for the label – a surprising return that's done in the more-soul mode of the group's Cadet recordings, as well as a few key touches of jazz! All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.
