✨✧ Mikis TheodorakisPhaedra ... LP
United Artists, Mid 60s. Very Good+ ... $7.99
A really dark little soundtrack – penned by Mikis Theodorakis for Jules Dassin's remake of the Phaedra myth! Some of the themes on here share the Greek stylings of Theodorakis' more popular soundtrack work – but there's also a lot more darker numbers – strung together in a variety of moods that really captures the oddness of the film. A few tracks feature dreamy vocals by Melina Mercouri, almost in a lullaby style mode – and others are more orchestral. The really standout track is "Goodbye John Sebastian", which features sound effects from the film, organ work, and a spooky recitation by Anthony Perkins! Other titles include "Love Theme From Phaedra", "Only You", "The Fling", "Candlelight", "Rodostimo", and "One More Time". LP, Vinyl record album
(Mono pressing. Cover has light wear and aging.)

Mikis Theodorakis/Jacques Loussier/Georges AuricFive Miles To Midnight – Original Soundtrack Recording ... CD
United Artists/Harkit (UK), 1963. Used ... $12.99
A near-lost soundtrack from the early 60s – one that features work from a host of the best European talents at the time! The film's a thriller set in Paris, and although Mikis Theodorakis scored most of the music, the record also features some great contributions from Frenchmen Georges Auric and Jacques Loussier – both of whom bring in some jazzier moments! There's less of the Mediterranean-styled sounds here than you might expect from Theodorakis' better-known scores – and overall, the whole thing comes across with the style of some of the best nouvelle vague soundtracks of the period – with lots of short tracks that mix thrilling themes, jazzier instrumentation, and some occasional playful rhythms – all in a tapestry of sound that's as compelling as the film itself! Titles include "The Ghost (parts 1 & 2)", "Up There", "Surprise Blues", "Concorde", "Cornice", "Twistin The Twist", "Potpourri At Regines", "Baion", and "The Crime". CD
(Out of print and sealed.)

✨✧ Mikis TheodorakisDay The Fish Came Out ... LP
20th Century, 1967. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
A very groovy little soundtrack – with a mixture of Zorba The Greek type Greek themes, plus hippy dippy psyche touches, and even a bit of Barbarella-like fuzz! The film imagines a 1972 in which hippies kind of go crazy in Greece – and the "future hippy" style of the music makes for some great touches that rank the album with Thedorakis' best work from the time. Titles include "Stand By For The Tourist Boom", "Sex On The Rocks", "Looking For the Bomb", "The Jet Rock", "Let's Dance The Jet", and "Karos 1972 AD". LP, Vinyl record album
