Il Gruppo (Gruppo Di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza) -- All Categories (LPs, CDs, Vinyl Record Albums) -- Dusty Groove is Chicago's Online Record Store
Wonderfully experimental music from Ennio Morricone – even darker at times than some of his famous horror soundtracks – and a record that was only pressed up in an initial small sound library run! The music has an offbeat blend of string elements, percussion, and other darker tones – recorded with some processing and unusual production touches – at a level that's very similar to Morricone's music with GruppoDiImprovvisazioneNuovaConsonanza, who also make an appearance on the set! Most tracks have this sort of progression of elements – a quality that's not directly rhythmic, but which creates a core energy that holds the more obtuse elements together – and titles include "Controfase", "Tempo", "Con Ferma Ostinazione", "Follia", and "Degenerazione". LP, Vinyl record album
A dark and extremely avant garde soundtrack from the great Ennio Morricone – one that's done in collaboration with his own GruppoImprovvisazioneNuovaConsonanza – an ensemble with roots in film scoring, but expressions that are more in the mode of 20th century avant! The music is a blend of free improvisation and more straight ahead jazz – with electric guitar, trumpet, violin, and percussion mixed with lots of weird effects and electronics – much more experimental than some of Morricone's more famous soundtracks of the time, and given a nice sense of direction from conductor Bruno Nicolai. The whole thing's incredibly spooky – one of the most turgid scores we've ever heard from the pen of Morricone – and the titles include "Sequita", "Evaporazione", "Dal Sogno E Ritorno", "Folle Folle", and "Notte E Misteri".
