✈
❔
Edgey pop work from the enigmatic singer Taiguara – a bit sweet, a bit baroque, and one of those talents who was secretly helping to push Brazilian pop into the next level! The album features Taiguara's hits, and is a bit less experimental than some of his non-single album cuts – but it still is a great representation of the blend of styles he worked in, and some of the dark and psychedelic orchestrations that made his work so great. Titles include "Viagem", "Piano E Viola", "Teu Sonho Nao Acabou", "O Velho E O Novo", "Carne E Osso", and "Modinha".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(80s pressing – nice and clean!)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Nana Caymmi & Cesar Camargo Mariano

Voz E Suor
EMI (Brazil), 1983. Very Good+
A warm intimate set by these two legendary Brazilian talents – Nana Caymmi on vocals, and the legendary Cesar Camargo Mariano playing some wonderfully mellow keyboards. Beto Guedes

Amor De Indio
EMI/Odeon (Brazil), 1978. Near Mint-
Looks like Beto Guedes was dragged out of bed for the cover shoot – but that doesn't stop the record from being one of his best of the 70s! Wagner Tiso plays keyboards and also handles arrangements – and titles include "O Medo De Amar E O Medo De Ser Livre", "Era ... LP, Vinyl record album

Brasilia Ritmos

Ritmos Do Brasil Vol 2
Odeon (Brazil), Early 60s. Very Good+
An excellent set of lively samba tunes – played with lots of jazzy flourishes, and instrumentation that includes trombone, guitar, and accordion. Clara Nunes

Canto Das Tres Racas
EMI/Odeon (Brazil), 1976. Near Mint-
An ambitious mix of rootsy samba and soaring orchestrations – one of the strongest 70s albums by Clara Nunes, and set to arrangements by Francis Hime, Nelsinho, and Maestro Gaya! Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66

Ye-Me-Le
A&M, 1969. Very Good+
Way past the hits, and into some really great territory – a move that makes the record one of our favorite Sergio Mendes sets for A&M! The sweeter bossa pop style here is undercut with a bit more influence from late 60s Brazilian grooves – some of the more baroque turns that Sergio' ... LP, Vinyl record album

Gal Costa

Agua Viva
Philips (Brazil), 1978. Very Good+
Warmly jazzy and beautifully lyrical work from Gal Costa – a bit of a departure from the darkness of her earlier albums, but still plenty darn great!
