Dr Goldfoot & The Girl Bombs

LP (Item 58462) Tower, Late 60s — Condition: Sealed
A pretty nice batch of tunes designed to accompany this schlocky spy spoof film that starred Fabian and Vincent Price! The soundtrack's kind of in a Tower Records biker mode – with a lot of different studio groups doing the work – the best of which is the Mad Doctors, who are an instrumental combo who do about half the work on the album. They've got a great style that's really mod and go-go – mixing together fast rhythms, electric bass, and nice touches on guitar, horns, or organ. The Mad Doctors do "Dr Goldfoot's Igloo", "The Mad Mad Doctor", "The Golden Bomb", "The Golden Price", and "Dr Goldfoot & The Girl Bombs". Other tunes include "Dr Goldfoot & The Girl Bombs" by The Sloopys, "Try My World Little Girl" by Terry Stafford, and "Hidin From Myself" by Paul & The Pack.  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Wild In The Streets
Tower, 1968. Very Good- Gatefold
Hilarious! This is the soundtrack to a goofy late 60s shocker film about the time when hippies and young folks would take over America. Les Baxter handled the musical score for the film, but the real treat is the schlocky rock tracks – written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, with ... LP, Vinyl record album

A pretty tense score – especially for Lalo Schifrin, who we normally know for his groovier soundtracks! Lalo's working here in a mode that's quite like some of the best 70s Italian horror scores – lots of turgid orchestral passages moving slowly, with dramatic flourishes that are ... A great little soundtrack – as campy as the film it was written for – and a record that's gone on to be one of the touchstone soundtracks of the 60s! Some of the tunes are more straight numbers by Johnny Williams – a bit dreamy, but with some nice easy touches – but the ... LP, Vinyl record album

A pretty darn rare Lalo Schifrin soundtrack – to a lost crime thriller that starred David McCallum, Stella Stevens, and Telly Savalas – all of whom are pictured in a nice collage-type movie painting on the front cover! The tracks run from mellow bossa to fast and jazzy, and the album ... LP, Vinyl record album

A killer soundtrack from Henry Mancini – a record that's got both the terror promised in the title, and some sweeter moments that are pure Mancini all the way!
