An excellent collection of Hubbard's work for the Impulse label, mostly from Hubbard's two excellent albums: Body & Soul and The Artistry of Freddie Hubbard. Body & Soul features large group arrangements by Wayne Shorter that are completely sublime, and some of the most compelling large group work that either player was ever involved in. Artistry of Freddie Hubbard features the trumpeter in a small group setting with John Gilmor on tenor – playing some very edgey numbers that blow away his Blue Note work!
