Eu Te Amo Mesmo Assim

LP (Item 168921) Artistas Unidos/Rozenblit (Brazil), 1967 — Condition: Very Good
(In the original plastic outer sleeve.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66

Ye-Me-Le
A&M, 1969. Very Good+
Way past the hits, and into some really great territory – a move that makes the record one of our favorite Sergio Mendes sets for A&M! The sweeter bossa pop style here is undercut with a bit more influence from late 60s Brazilian grooves – some of the more baroque turns that Sergio' ... LP, Vinyl record album

Gal Costa

Agua Viva
Philips (Brazil), 1978. Very Good+
Warmly jazzy and beautifully lyrical work from Gal Costa – a bit of a departure from the darkness of her earlier albums, but still plenty darn great! There's a really fluid sensibility to most of the tunes here – one that matches the title and cover image of the record – and ... LP, Vinyl record album

Caetano Veloso/Gal Costa/Gilberto Gil

Temporada De Verao – Ao Vivo Na Bahia
Philips (Brazil), 1974. Very Good+
Great live material from 1974, recorded in Bahia, and featuring Caetano, Gal, and Gilberto Gil – each performing tracks on their own! The quality's better than a lot of other Brazilian live albums from the early 70s, and the album's a strong one in Caetano's early 70s catalog – showing ... LP, Vinyl record album

Dorival Caymmi

Eu Nao Tenho Onde Morar
Odeon (Brazil), 1960. Very Good+
Magical early work from Dorival Caymmi – and the kind of record that easily shows why he was such a huge influence on Brazilian music! The album bubbles along with a lively mix of samba and larger orchestrations – Caymmi's wonderful vocals and songs filling up the set with a sense of ... LP, Vinyl record album
Som Maior (Brazil), 1968. Very Good+
Brilliant work from Geraldo Vandre – an overlooked singer/songwriter who was a key bridge between the early bossa years and more sophisticated MPB sounds in the 70s! RCA, 1965. Very Good+
Darkly brilliant – and one of Joao Donato's most fantastic records! The set was recorded during Joao's time in America in the mid 60s – cut in New York with lofty backings by Claus Ogerman, in a pillowy soft mode that fits perfectly with Joao's light bossa piano lines, and which has ... Donald Byrd

Free Form
Blue Note, 1966. Near Mint-
A landmark album for Donald Byrd – one that marks a key departure in his sound! Donald's really opening up on this one – picking up more of the soulful and the spiritual side of jazz, and moving from the hardbop and modern jazz of his late 50s years – no surprise, since he's ... RCA, 1973. Near Mint-
A weird and wonderful record – the early hits of Neil Diamond, played on the moog and ARP by the mighty Hugo Montenegro! The approach to the set is pretty darn cool – as it takes 10 of Neil's best early tunes, and runs them through arrangements by Montenegro that run from funky to ... LP, Vinyl record album
