An amazing tribute to the late Michael Jackson – a beautifully done package that brings together all of his early solo albums for Motown – plus some great bonus tracks as well – all wrapped up in a book-styled cover with lots of notes and vintage photos! The music here is tremendous – the first stand-alone utterings of the King Of Pop, done in a style very similar to the Jackson 5 material at Motown, but sometimes a bit more pointed and personal too – a very different version of Michael than you may know from later years. Most people know Albert Oehlen as an artist, yet he's also one with a very sensitive ear for music as well – one that comes in pretty darn handy in this set of duets with legendary drummer Sven Ake Johansson! The recording grew out of a meeting in Oehlen's studio, which includes his collection of vintage rhythm machines – used here to set up some sonic patterns which are then disrupted by Johansson's work on the drum kit – never in a way that's too erratic, as Sven also creates these waves and patterns of sound – sometimes with the intensity of the machines, but often a lot more human, with a looser sensibility that really makes for a wonderful contrast! One of the best of the blacksploitation scores of the early 70s – a masterpiece of music that we rate every bit as high as Shaft or Superfly – maybe even higher! The music here is incredible – a surprising funky turn for JJ Johnson, who most folks know for his straighter jazz work – and like Marvin Gaye, Barry White, and others who were surprising the world with their ability to score music for a full film during the early 70s, JJ really knocks it out of the park with this one – coming up with a batch of tunes that are a wonderful mix of sophisticated scoring, creative instrumentation, and some damn funky grooves! The title cut features Joe Simon on vocals, and Millie Jackson sings on the cuts "Love Doctor" and "It Hurts So Good". Sweet sweet Quincy! Although the Q's probably best remembered round these parts for his funky 70s work or classic 60s soundtracks, we also have to admit that we love him for his mellow grooves – the sly and seductive tunes that often hid out amidst his albums of the 70s and 80s, and which also featured early work by singers that later went onto much greater fame. This excellent set brings together 17 of those wonderful mellow moments – stretching back to some of Quincy's important collaborative A&M efforts of the 70s, and running up to some of his best work of more recent vintage. Hard swinging big band material from Sweden – a great little set that features the big band of Harry Arnold arranged by Quincy Jones! Quincy was spending a lot of time in Sweden during the mid 50s – bringing with him a host of great players that would soon become big names on the European scene – the biggest of whom was Benny Bailey, who plays some good solos here with a mostly-Swedish group that includes Arne Domnerus, Bengt Hallberg, Ake Persson, and Bengt-Arne Wallin. The style of the work, and its trans-Atlantic jazz orientation, is a direct precursor of later work by the Clarke-Boland Big Band – of whom Bailey was a big part – and the titles all swing nicely, with plenty of room for breakout solos! Really wonderful work from the early 90s scene in Khartoum – sounds that have a much more 70s-styled sound than you might expect! That sound is in keeping with Kamal Keila, who was never a mainstream artist at all – and instead made material like this away from the limelight, which might account for the older spirit – as the music mixes together currents of vintage American soul, particularly some of the Texas horn-heavy bands of the late 60s – plus a bit of Ethiopian flair in the rhythms, and maybe even a bit of bluesy inflections in Keila's voice – even though the music is hardly in the realm of blues at all! The whole thing is as compelling as it is righteous – a quality you'll certainly discover in the English language lyrics of the set, which comprise about half the material. An easygoing city pop classic from Momoko Kikuchi – catchy but laidback at the same time – and nicely produced, but with a different vibe than some of the clunkier American work of the time! The record's a great illustration of the way that a singer like Momoko could find just the right balance with the backings – working with a set of arrangements from Tetsuji Hayashi, who also wrote the songs – carrying forward some of the pop and soundtrack styles of the time, and wrapping things up in a well-crafted record for Kikuchi. Frederick Knight was to 70s Stax what William Bell was to the label in the 60s – a smooth, sweet sophisticated singer that was perfect at the southern ballad style. The strings have it – in this sweet little set from bassists Peter Kowald and Kent Kessler, and the great Fred Lonberg-Holm on cello! The combination of instruments is wonderful – very free, but often quite tuneful nonetheless – as each player seems to glide between rhythm and melody, very much awash in their strong senses of sounds! The recording is a vintage one – captured in the WNUR studios in Chicago, at a very formative time for each player, especially Kessler and Lonberg-Holm – and it's issued here for the first time ever. It's no secret that Japanese listeners love jazz, and have a real ear for vintage vinyl – and this issue of Gateway looks at the history of the Jazz Kissa – that special sort of Japanese record bar that mixes jazz vinyl, a top-shelf sound system, and an intimate drinking environment – all of which makes for a really great place to enjoy the records! We're not normally ones to ooh and ah over hotels – but they do tend to be some of our favorite semi-public spaces in big cities, and this wonderful book looks at a time when lodging was really stepping up to the next level – as firms like Schultze & Weaver were redesigning hotels as palaces in the sky! The book features entries on a host of classic architectural projects from the 20s in Havana, New York, Miami, and other cities – famous spots that include the Hotel Pierre, Waldorf Astoria, Breakers, Biltlmore, and Nautilus – each of which get their own chapter, complete with amazing images of interiors and exteriors, vintage advertising, and details on the buildings – preceded by a large section on Schultze & Weaver, and the development of new standards and styles for hotels in the early 20th century. An overlooked Christmas album from Cyndi Lauper – recorded a bit after her big hits of the 80s, but still enough in that decade to have the right vintage feel for her voice! There's a few Christmas classics on the record, but there's also some original and unusual songs – which is always great with us – as our favorite sort of Christmas records are the ones where an artist really brings something new to the table! A stone classic from reedman Ronnie Laws – and an album that really helped set a whole new standard for funky fusion in the 70s! Laws works here with great Wayne Henderson production – which gives the album an even sharper sound than other Blue Note sets of this vintage – and that kind of tight blend of funk and jazz you'd find in the Crusaders, with a similar no-nonsense approach in the grooves! Henderson's got a great way of never being too smooth – and Laws responds with some wicked solos on tenor, soprano sax, and flute – soaring out over the course of the whole wonderful album. Moogy keyboards, disco grooves, and sweet female vocals make this a classic session from the Rinder & Lewis team – and the album's a lot better than you might think from the silly name of the group or the throwaway disco cover on the front! The keyboards really drive the album, hitting some great funky clavinet moments or sweet moogy parts that always seem to have a nice touch of jazz – spicing up the tracks in a style that you wouldn't normally get on an album of this vintage and style. A really great collection of Chess Records work by JB Lenoir – one of the more unusual singers on the Chicago scene at the time – and one with a sound that's pretty darn great all the way through! Lenoir's tone is a pitch or two up from most of his contemporaries – not as gritty and deep, and with inflections that almost point the way towards soul singers in the generation to come. Yet the backings are definitely in the best Windy City modes of the time – as Lenoir plays some great electric guitar, alongside Alex Atkins on alto, Ernest Cotton on tenor, Joe Montgomery on piano, and Willie Dixon on bass. Deke Leonard's really finding himself as a solo artist here – so much so, he begins the album with an instrumental, then continues to push his strengths on that instrument every bit as much as his edgey vocals! Raw vintage soul from Lonnie Lester! Lonnie's smooth, honey sweet voice is such a fantastic foil for the often stripped-down, but driving sounds of these rare singles, it's hard to believe he's not a more celebrated figure. Beautiful images from the legendary Ann Arbor Blues Festival – a long-running even that's pulled together an amazing range of talent over the years – a good number of whom are featured here! The festival probably hit its biggest fame in the early 70s – when recordings documented work by Sun Ra, Art Ensemble, and many blues musicians – and most of the images here even predate those years, as almost all the photographs appear to be from 1969 and 1970 – huge appearances for still-living blues legends! Excellent work from pianist Harold Mabern – a strong talent whose lyrical powers graced the MJT sides from Chicago on Vee Jay in the early 60s, and a player who also worked on some great Blue Note sessions in the mid 60s. This set is possibly his strongest for Prestige – a tight, hard batch of soul jazz tracks, with a more pronounced punch than some of his other work. The group is great – with Blue Mitchell on trumpet, George Coleman on tenor, Bill Lee on bass, and the excellent (and virtually unknown) Hugh Walker on drums. Formative Madlib beatcraft – music made by 'Lib from 1990-2000 – crafted into a tight full length album that feels as fresh as ever! History Of The Loop Digga features funky hip hop instrumentals made at a time when he was producing underground beat tapes for himself and the Crate Diggas Palace crew of MCs. Raw Madlib hip hop beats from the early days with spackled with bits of vocals from Madlib & his Quasimoto alter ego, Declaime and others, plus mad vocal samples. At the core, it's excellent leftfield hip hop productions that aptly predicts for the unbridled genius to come, mixed in 2010 and feeling very much of the here and now. 34 shortish tracks on the 2LP version for more than an hour of modern vintage Madlib. Tim Maia takes on a host of older American tunes – stepping back to the 60s soul roots that inspired his roots in the 70s – all set to relatively modern arrangements! Maia's vocals are still nice and deep, even amidst the keyboard grooves – and titles include "Earth Angel", "On Broadway", "Tears On My Pillow", "Hey There Lonely Girl", "What A Wonderful World", "Save The Last Dance For Me", and "What's Your Name". Amazing package, too – comes in a hardcover book-style jacket, with a bonus 45 page book that also includes full color images, with lots of vintage photos, plus notes on the record in Portuguese! The whole thing's sort of an update of the old Abril Cultural style of the 70s – brought into the CD generation. CD

A great one from that period when Chuck Mangione was mixing his sublime flugelhorn sound with some well-crafted larger ideas – served up with a core combo that features Chuck on Fender Rhodes as well as his horn, plus Chip Jackson on bass, Joe LaBarbera on drums, and Gerry Niewood on soprano, tenor, and flutes! The great Esther Satterfield sings a bit, Kathy Moses guests on flute, and there's some nice larger arrangements at times. LP, Vinyl record album

Two slices of vintage funk, both very different – one by DNA, one by Parliament – performed in very different versions here, by a group that features Ken Vandermark on saxes and guest work from Joe McPhee on tenor! Vandermark's Marker combo is one that's more than deft enough to swing the balance between no wave and P-Funk – with twin guitars from Andrew Clinkman and Steve Marquette – plus keyboards from Macie Stewart and drums from Phil Sudderberg – topped with work from the leader himself on tenor and baritone. The presence of McPhee – a jazzman who himself also has a bit of a history in funk – only furthers the intensity of the performance – as the group deliver these short, tight takes on the cuts "Egomaniac's Kiss" (by DNA from the No New York compilation) and the George Clinton classic "Night Of The Thumpasorus Peoples". 12-inch, Vinyl record

Wild stuff! This album's beyond description – sort of a mix of the baroque instrumental arrangements of David Axelrod, and the tape/musique concrete grooves of Jon Appleton, with some of the hippiness of the work of Galt MacDermot – but still very different than all of them! The record has a strong concept and theme – with a lot of social and political strands running through the lyrics – but the real charm is the instrumentation, which is really messed-up, experimental, and runs from rock to funk to soul without pause. Players on the set include Alan Silva, Burton Greene, Roswell Rudd, Andrew Cyrille, and Jimmy Owens – but the album also features great gospel vocals by Alex Bradford, which should give you an idea of the mind-bending approach it takes! Pretty great soundtrack work from Wynton Marsalis – done for a somewhat forgettable film, but featuring a wide array of sounds and styles – all a bit of a break from some of Wynton's stiffer work of the time! There's a definite ear here for New Orleans roots – which echo through the vintage-styled tunes nicely – and some numbers bring in a bit of vocals, either from Shirley Horn or Johnny Adams, which further helps expand the range of tunes. Many numbers are somewhat short – which allows the group to leap out before any cliches might take over – and Wynton's trumpet is augmented by a fair bit of extra horns, including some great clarinet from Alvin Batiste and Michael White. Titles include "Big Trouble In The Easy", "May Be Fact Or Fiction", "Albanians", "Don't Run From Fun", "On The Eve Of Entry", "Mama Leona", and "I Can't Get Started". CD

A rock-solid swinger from tenorist Warne Marsh – a set that's maybe got a bit more of a groove than some of his other records of late vintage – thanks to work from the rhythm section of Kenny Drew on piano, Bo Stief on bass, and Aage Tanggaard on drums! Steif's especially nice – able to set things up with a soulful pulse that makes a great match for the crisp, clean tenor lines of Marsh – still blowing here with all the modern qualities we've always loved, but also swinging a lot more too. Titles include "Sippin At Bells", "On Green Dolphin Street", "Star Eyes", "Ornithology", "Body & Soul", "Little Willie Leaps", and "Every Time We Say Goodbye" – the last of which is just a duet between Marsh and Drew. A new set on the legendary KPM sound library label, but one that's very much in the best spirit of the company's vintage work – as maestro Frank Maston acts here like a hip soundtrack composer from the Italian scene of the 70s! The mix of instrumentation is mighty nice – funky, but in a laidback way – with cool compressed horns and flute lines, mixed with some wordless vocalizations from Molly Lewis – who seems to be evoking the style of the great Barbara Moore at times – while vibes sneak in and out of the mix, and give the whole thing a wonderfully chromatic vibe! A great set all the way through, with no filler at all – tracks that include "Jet Lag", "Hydra", "Medusa", "Morning Paper", "Fool Moon", "First Class", "You Shouldn't Have", "Storm", and "Easy Money". One of the most unusual disc guides we've ever seen – a book that coins its own genre of music, Walearic – then finds a whole host of vintage records that fall under that new category! The book is filled with listings of rare records from Japan – music in many styles, and which represent the real flowering of Japanese musical creativity in the 70s and 80s – a time when the pressing plants were going at full steam, and the nation was really crafting its own amazing legacy in music! As with other Japanese books of this nature, most of the text is not in English – but the all-color volume does feature page after page of record covers, titles, dates, artist, and label information – hundreds of listings for records that will definitely expand your crate digging efforts in years to come. Amazing rare soul from Gwen McCrae – little-known material recorded for Columbia records in the years before her later 70s fame at TK! The style here is nice and rootsy – very southern soul in its approach, even more so than Gwen's earliest work at TK – thanks, perhaps, to less of a club or pop crossover need in the production. Yet there's also a key link with the TK years, too – production by Steve Alaimo, who's really finding his way here in a great way – borrowing bits from other southern soul modes, moving them down to Miami, and helping forge a whole new chapter in southern soul for the 70s. Gwen's vocals are incredible – arguably even deeper and more hard-hitting than on some of her bigger hits – and the freshness of the material further makes the set great. Plus, since Columbia never issued a full album of this work in the US (although there was one rare record of the singles in Europe in the 70s), this package makes the first-ever full length Columbia album from Gwen – put together with stunning sound, very detailed notes, and some great vintage images. The title's an apt one, because after frustrations experienced working for Columbia and other labels, Mingus is finally allowed the freedom here to present his own ideas in all their unfettered glory – working with a bracingly tight quartet that features Eric Dolphy on alto and bass clarinet and Ted Curson on trumpet! A number of the tracks here are familiar in their titles from other records, but the versions here stretch out far longer – moving past 10 minutes on 2 of the album's 4 tracks, and approaching that limit on others. But even more noticeable is the spareness of the sound – as the smaller group versions allow for a tremendous amount of solo space, really letting the focus fall on the two horn players, with the bass of Mingus and drums of Dannie Richmond shading in the space behind and beyond. A nice little live date from Mingus – a bit looser, and almost a bit rougher than some of his other work from this vintage – but in a way that makes for a continually appealing set! The group here is a sextet – with Eddie Preston on trumpet, Charles McPherson on alto, Bobby Jones on tenor, and Jaki Byard on piano – and tracks are long and lively, taken at a pretty good clip with plenty of space for the soloists to do their own thing. Beautiful solo electronics from Moebius – an album recorded in the early 80s, but with a really timeless feel that takes it far from so many other electric sets of this vintage! There's still very much a spacious sound going on here – similar to the Cluster projects with Roedelius – warmly melodic, and very understated – every bit that picture perfect approach to analogue electronics that Kraftwerk first brought into the scene, and which guys like Moebius perfected even more with records like this! Beautiful work from pianist Tete Montoliu – three full albums served up in a single package! First up is Man From Barcelona – a set cut late in Tete's career, but one that has this beautiful way of building up a tune – maybe even more lyrical and sincere than some of Montoliu's earlier music! The trio features nicely understated work from George Mraz on bass and Lewis Nash on drums – both players who often step aside and let Tete pace the tune, find his groove, and bring in all sorts of really lovely colors even before things start swinging – served up on tunes that include "Tune Up", "Stella By Starlight", "Autumn Leaves", "Django", and "Concierto De Aranjuez". On Secret Love, pianist Tete Montoliu gets some Cedar Walton backing – in a trio with Sam Jones on bass and Billy Higgins on drums – both musicians who really make the record stand out from the pack! Tete himself is at the peak of his powers – able to play with this commanding sense of majesty from the very first note – but with a style that also has plenty of room for more lyrical flourishes, too – although often with these soulful strides that we don't seem to hear that well in other trio sessions of this vintage! We're not going to credit Jones and Higgins with bringing this on – but heck, they sound wonderful here, and really make the whole thing crackle with warm imagination throughout. The title's correct on the third album – as that's yellow dolphin street, not "Green Dolphin Street" – a very special place where Tete Montoliu unfurls a beautiful selection of solo piano numbers! A long-overdue tribute to the legendary Moondog – one of the true visionaries of American music in the 20th Century! Moondog got his starts as a blind musician working the streets of New York at the end of the 40s, but he did so (as you'll note on the cover photo) with a range of unusual instruments of his own invention, and in a minimal, rhythmic style that linked together primitivism with higher musical ideals. Moondog's often been called "the father of minimalism" – and while his experiments of the 50s prefaced the work of Steve Reich, Terry Riley, and others, his work was also much more personal, and had an earthy intensity that's still tremendously powerful even decades later! This collection is one of the first to dip into the earliest of Moondog's recordings – his recordings for the Mars, SRC, Brunswick, and Moondog labels – which are presented here alongside selected tracks from his albums for Epic and Prestige, also of similar vintage. Nearly all the tracks here offer a very primitive blend of percussion that's sometimes mixed with unusual woodwind or stringed instruments – nearly all of Moondog's own invention – and the package also features some great notes on his long career, plus some photos that are as gripping as the music itself! A really great little soundtrack – an unusual comedic moment for Ennio Morricone, and scored with this very groovy blend of light orchestrations, gentle rhythms, and even a bit of bossa! Keyboard lines ring out with this spare, resonant feel on some of our favorite numbers – recalling the best Morricone modes at the start of the 70s, but with a slightly different twist – and the overall approach is way more classy and careful than the usual Italian comedy of this vintage – no throwaway disco or too-cheesy cuts – just the kind of careful sense of sound we'd expect from the maestro. Seminal recordings from Jemeel Moondoc's important Muntu ensemble – a group who worked with amazing energy in the avant scene of the late 70s – easily offering up some of the greatest performances from the members involved! There's a mixture of structure and freedom to these tracks that's mighty nice – a bold conception of message headed by Moondoc, but executed with these open solos that really show the full talents of every musician. The lineup shifts a bit over the space of the recordings here – the First Feeding album features Moondoc on alto, Arthur Williams on trumpet, Mark Hennen on piano, William Parker on bass, and Rashid Bakr on drums; Evening Of The Blue Men has trumpeter Roy Campbell joining Moondoc, Parker, and Bakr; and the previously-unreleased Live At Ali's Alley is an extended trio performance from Moondoc, Parker, and Bakr – one long track that really opens up! Equally amazing is the package – 3CDs in an oversized case, packaged with a beautiful book that's over 100 pages – with notes on the group, sessionography, vintage photos, poster reproductions, and more. A great little record from Japanese singer Yoko Nagisa – an artist who's clearly got a 70s look on the cover, and who really brings that to the record too – mixing in bits of jazz and bits of soul, at a level that maybe makes the whole thing feel like some blend between vintage work by Kimiko Kasai and some of the more mainstream singers of that older decade – set to perfect period instrumentation that's handled by Crazy Ken Band! Instrumentation has a sense of warmth that really matches Yoko's vocals nicely – and although lyrics are in Japanese throughout, as are the song titles – there's a really universal sense of appeal to the record. You might know the music of keyboardist Tonu Naisso from his work in jazz, but here the approach is slightly different – still jazz-based, but with the more compact approach of vintage sound library work – as Tonu serves up a dozen great instrumentals, all with a range of excellent keyboard styles! A really unusual album from the mighty Ohio Players – material from their first full length set, and a record that's very different than their better-known work on Westbound and Mercury – but every bit as great! The band is tight and funky, but in a sort of deep soul 60s way – with arrangements and playing that have a hard edge, and with nice guitar rhythm tracks – a bit trippy and fuzzy at times, but also with a style that's got more of a 60s vintage than the headier styles they hit at Westbound. The group are great in this format – and the album includes lots of great original tracks – like "Bad Bargain", "Lonely Street", and "Street Party" – plus very cool covers of "Summertime" and "Mother In Law". Other titles include "Here Today & Gone Tomorrow", "Stop Lying To Yourself", "Over The Rainbow", "Find Someone To Love", "Cold Cold World", and "The Man That I Am". An amazing package – two full albums of work from Olatunji, plus bonus tracks, notes, and vintage photos! The original Drums Of Passion is a classic session of pounding percussion – quite possibly the most successful entry into this earthy genre that hit the recording scene at the end of the 50s! Babatuned Olatunji is joined here by a great assemblage of players – including Montego Joe and Baba Hawthorne Bey on percussion, who further flesh out the rumbling, rhythmic groove at the bottom. There's also a group of vocalists on the record, soaring over the top of the percussion with a nicely righteous feel – and the record's a key crossover moment that heralds later African expressions in the American mainstream. Titles include "Odun De Odun De", "Oya", "Jin Go Lo Ba", "Baba Jinde", and "Shango". Bonus cuts include "Eyo She She", "Menu Diyeh (remake)", "Jolly Mensah (new version)", and "Menu Di Ye Jewe". Stunning sounds from Michael Orr – a singer you might know from his secular work in the duo of Harris & Orr – and who still sounds incredible here in a more spiritual-styled set from the start of the 80s! As with Michael's earlier music, there's a cool, cosmic vibe going on in the instrumentation – jazzy keyboard inflections and a great spacey soul conception that's quite unusual for most records of this vintage, much less the gospel setting that Orr's working in here on the Birthright label! Yet as with the hippest gospel records of the time, the religion is delivered more in a sense of universal spirit – at a level that's more on par with some of the more spiritual jazz and soul releases of the time – a mode that Orr worked in before on his previous albums. Michael plays a fair bit of Fender Rhodes on the record, and sings deeply too – and the vibe here is a lot like the best modern soul moments from Rance Allen and DJ Rogers. The "Lo" in the title here is Immy Owusu's way of hinting at a lo-fi approach on the record – a sound that mixes older West African influences with a more personal, down to earth approach – one that really lets Immy's vocals come across wonderfully – almost more like a soul album, given how upfront they are in the mix – a style that's different than an older singer buried amidst a larger ensemble sound! And yet there's also a decently-sized group on the record too – guitar, keyboards, percussion, and backing vocals alongside Owusu's lead work on guitar and vocals – intimate, yet rich – and with a sound that's such a nice change from records that try for a more slavish vintage sound. A gritty little gem in the Gram Parsons/Burritos catalog – mostly covers of classic honky tonk tunes! Many of the tracks were recorded for what would have been an honest, earnest, hard country album that was never fully realized – eventually paired with a few other tracks of similar vintage and some outtakes with Emmylou, then released as a posthumous Gram Parsons/Flying Burrito Bros LP. Gram is hardly acknowledged by the country music establishment to this day, but this set shows that he loved and respected the songs of Merle Haggard (Gram's supposed cultural opposite at the time, so little did the world actually know), Buck Owens, The Louvin Brothers and the endless lost highway of roadhouse jukebox classics – played here with a boozy after hours swagger! Duke Pearson knocks it out of the park with this one – perfectly summing up all the new ideas in jazz arranging and large ensemble work he'd been exploring at Blue Note – and pushing things way way past his previous small group material as well! The album's quite different than most other 60s iterations of big band jazz – as Pearson's got a way of making all instruments come together on the rhythms, then exploding with subtle colors and soulful tones – yet all at a level that's never forced or gimmicky at all. It helps that he's got a tremendous lineup of players here – both Lew Tabackin and Frank Foster on tenor (the latter of whom does some arranging for the record) – plus Pepper Adams on baritone, Marvin Stamm and Randy Brecker on trumpets, Garnett Brown and Jimmy Cleveland on trombones, Jerry Dodgion and Al Gibbons on alto, and the rhythm team of Bob Cranshaw on bass and Mickey Roker on drums. Duke plays superb piano with a really sophisticated touch, but it's really his strength as an arranger that makes the whole thing come together beautifully. A bit later than classic vintage for Teddy Pendergrass – but a great little tune nonetheless – and one that has his incredible voice crackling beautifully over this warmly dipping groove!
