A pivotal single in the development of southern soul! Jimmy was one of the first great discoveries of the legendary Rick Hall, and "Steal Away" is an undisputed classic that put Hughes and Hall on the map! The track has incredible vocals, lifted a bit from Solomon Burke, but also with a raspy southern style that had yet to be exploited fully by 60s singers. Great stuff! 7-inch, Vinyl record
A really funky theme from the Italian scene of the 70s – served up here in two great versions! The main title take has this fast-moving bassline that's peppered with slower keyboards that are balanced with some more dramatic pops in the instrumentation – which then take over as the drums ride on more strongly, giving the whole thing a great funky crime/cop feel! The "sequence 1" version is slower, with heavier drums – and cool harmonica next to the electric piano in the grooves! 7-inch, Vinyl record
A tasty moog groover from Hot Butter! "Percolator" pops with a coffee pot sound (don't hear that in the kitchen much anymore!) – jumping along over a playful little groove that rolls with a nice snare and washes of keyboards. 7-inch, Vinyl record
