Sandy Salisbury —
Mellow As Sunshine ... LP Sundazed, Late 1960s. New Copy ...
Temporarily Out Of Stock
A treasure trove of lost work from Sandy Salisbury – all recorded during the same time he was working with Curt Boettcher in the legendary group The Millennium! The songs are all as lovely as the image on the cover – and on his own, often overdubbing his vocals to create his own harmonies, Sandy's got this quality that's maybe even sweeter and more sophisticated than you'd know from his other records – almost Beatles-esque, especially of the more melodic tunes that PaulMcCartney would front during the later years of that group. All work is from Sandy's own archives, appearing here for the first time ever – and titles include "Silent Lonely Night", "Do I Miss You", "Tomorrow", "Six O'Clock", "Once I Knew A Little Dog", "Butter Me Over", "The Sun Always Shines On Suzanna", and "Everyone Should Be In Love". LP, Vinyl record album
A gem of a record from the Japanese scene of the early 70s – and one that's very different than most of the other work at the time – maybe more influenced by some of the more thoughtful, creative developments in British music in the post-Beatles years – and delivered in this mix of acoustic instrumentation, larger orchestrations, and really beautiful, personal touches on the vocals! The mix of modes going on here is almost like solo PaulMcCartney – and Yoki Hinohara's got an equally great way of mixing melodic elements with occasional earthier elements – all in a way that delivers a heck of a lot of feeling, even if you can't understand the Japanese lyrics of the tunes. A now-classic update of the famous Christmas album format – one done for the 21st Century crowd, but with a nice mix of older and younger artists – all serving up a blend of original tunes and holiday classics in new modes! Titles include "Green Grows The Holly" by Calexico, "I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day" by The Civil Wars, "The Christmas Song" by PaulMcCartney, "Wonderful Christmastime" by The Shins, "Sleigh Ride" by Fun, "Baby It's Cold Outside" by Rufus Wainwright & Sharon Van Etten, "It's Beginning To Look Like Christmas" by Fruit Bats, "Senor Santa" by Y La Bamba, "Auld Lang Syne" by Andrew Bird, "May Every Day Be Christmas" by Irma Thomas, "That's What I Want For Christmas" by Holly Golightly, "The Man With The Bag" by Black Prairie with Sallie Ford, "Santa Bring My Baby Back To Me" by Eleanor Friedberger, and "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve" by The Head & The Heart.
