new Method ManTical ... LP
Def Jam, 1994. Used .... $44.99 Out Of Stock
The first Wu Solo LP, if only Meth and the rest had maintained this level rather than turning into caricatures of themselves. Fortunately most of the core members of the original Clan still show a glimmer of the talent they had in these early days, but you can hardly beat this LP for dark, menacing Shaolin cuts. Features the massive "Bring The Pain", and loads of other great cuts, including "What The Blood Clot", "Meth Vs. Chef", "Release Yo Delf", "Biscuits", "PLO Style" and "Method Man (rmx)".
(Original pressing, including the inner sleeve. Cover has a promo stamp.)

Common — Resurrection ... LP
Relativity, 1994. New Copy (reissue).... $7.99 9.98
In 1994 when everyone seemed to be turning hardcore, Common Sense wasn't having it. Introspective tales of growing up and living on the South Side that fit perfectly with No I.D.'s mellow production and spiced up with two guest appearances by Y-Not aka Twilight Tone. Classic LP, solid all the way through. Being in Chicago, people always ask us for this one, but the original is impossible to find, even here. Now back in print with original cover art. With "I Used To Love H.E.R.". "Book Of Life", "Chapter 13 (Rich Man vs. Poor Man)", "Nuthin' To Do", "In My Own World (Check The Method)", "Maintaining", "Communism", "Watermelon" and seven more.

Ghostface Killah — Supreme Clientele (remastered 2LP vinyl with poster) ... LP
Epic/Get On Down, 2000. New Copy 2LP Gatefold (reissue).... $19.99
Ghostface's second full length – maybe the most worthwhile Wu solo project, and the best of all them since the first wave of the Wu. Ghost's flow is raw as hell, furious and re-energized, and so startlingly poetic that we were completely blown away. The guests seem to feed off this huge energy boom, too, with Method Man and Cappadona getting their best verses in a while, and even RZA's misguided Bobby Digital persona kicks some raw dynamite. Also features appearances by Raekwon and Redman, plus a few tracks with beats by the RZA. Tracks include "Nutmeg", "Saturday Nite", "Apollo Kids", "The Grain", "Child's Play", "Malcolm", "Buck 50", and "Cherchez La Ghost".
(Remastered double vinyl version of one the best ever Wu Tang solo sets. Includes poster.)

Loud/RCA/Get On Down, 1995. New Copy 2LP .... $26.99
Chef Raekwon cooks up one of finest hip hop albums in history – a standout moment in the Wu Tang canon and the 90s in general! Given Ghostface's presence throughout, the prime RZA production and other top shelf guests, you could almost call this one a Wu Tang Clan album, if not for Raekwon's incredible leadership behind the mic. Guests include Nas, Method Man, Inspektah Deck and more from the Wu Tang family. An absolute standard-bearer! RZA — Man With The Iron Fists ... LP
2012. New Copy .... 17.99 Late June, 2013
The best music in years from RZA – the man who introduced styliized martial arts soundtrack funk to hardcore hip hop – and the soundtrack to his own damn stylized martial arts film, The Man With The Iron Fists! Musically, it's top notch! RZA's wise enough to contemporize his tried-and-true style rather than revisit it – with swelling soul strings and a crisper sound than the dusty Shaw Bros-sampling Wu Tang sound of past endeavors –and he's joined by a diverse roster of guests that includes Ghostface, Raekwon and other Wu veterans, Kanye, MOP, Pharoahe Monch, The Black Keys, Corrine Bailey Rae, Danny Brown and many more! Includes "The Baddest Man Alive" with The Black Keys, "Black Out" with Ghostface, MOP & Pharoahe Monch, "White Dress" with Kanye West, "Rivers Of Blood" with Wu Tang Clan and Kool G Rap, "Chains" with Corrine Bailey Rae, "The Archer" with Killa Sin, "Just Blowin' In The Wind" with RZA and Flatbush Zombies, "Your Good Thing Is About To End" by Mable John, "Built For This" with Method Man, Freddie Gibbs & Streetlife" and more.

new Common Sense — Resurrection (original pressing) ... LP
Relativity, 1994. Used .... $24.99 Temporarily Out Of Stock
Original pressing of this one – the front says "Common Sense", too – not "Common", as do the current reissues. Solid all the way through. Even here in Chicago, you rarely see the original of this now classic, mostly produced by No ID. With "I Used To Love H.E.R.". "Book Of Life", "Chapter 13 (Rich Man vs. Poor Man)", "Nuthin' To Do", "In My Own World (Check The Method)", "Maintaining", "Communism", "Watermelon" and seven more.

new D'Angelo — Voodoo ... LP
Virgin/Modern Classic, 2000. New Copy 2LP Gatefold (reissue).... $19.99 Temporarily Out Of Stock
Sweet and gritty soul from D'Angelo – who takes a huge step into deeper territory on Voodoo – and it's one of the most monumental records of its time! On one level, Voodoo works as a nicely stripped-down session with a very classic soul feel. Gone are the overzealous flourishes that sometimes overwhelmed his earlier songs, and in their place are some sweetly crafted vocal parts with a classic Marvin Gaye/Al Green feel. That warmth is probably what made Voodoo a massive popular success – but what makes it such a creative triumph are the darker undercurrents – which hint at a troubled soul struggling for spiritual truth. One of the rare cases in popular music when great art became music for the masses! Titles include "Left & Right (feat Method Man & Redman)", "The Line", "Spanish Joint", "Africa", "Feel Like Makin Love", "The Root", "Playa Playa", "Devil's Pie", and "Greatdayndamornin/Booty".
(2012 2LP gatefold edition with new liner notes by Jason King and interviews with ?uestlove, James Poyser, Charlie Hunter and others.)

Yonosuke Segami & His Group — Latin Percussion Method ... CD
Columbia (Japan), 1972. New Copy .... $34.99
A hard-driving Latin set from early 70s Japan – served up in a non-nonsense mode that's arguably more classic than most American work of the time! The group is very heavy on percussion – with Segami in the lead, but a handful of other players providing strong accompaniment too – and other instrumentation shifts a bit from track to track, but frequently features some firey piano lines, soaring trumpet solos, and some especially great flute – which adds a nicely lyrical feel to the record. The whole album's on fire right from the start – and continues with a very percussive vibe – on titles that include "Anna", "El Cumbanchero", "Historia De Un Amor", "Tico Tico", "La Virgen De La Macarena", "Babalu", and "Adios Mariquita Linda".
(Special on-demand CD from Sony Japan – done in very limited quantities, as a way of reissuing these rare jazz gems – and still with full color artwork!)

new Undisputed Truth — Method To The Madness (plus bonus tracks) ... CD
Whitfield/Wounded Bird, 1976. New Copy .... $10.99 11.98 Out Of Stock
A nice one by Undisputed Truth – and the Method To The Madness is shoot further out into a space funk realm! By this point in the mid 70s, the group has firmly developed their spacier identity – possibly as an answer to George Clinton and Earth Wind & Fire's big cosmic funk vibe at the same time. There are plenty of Norman Whitfield's particular style of funky production, but what makes the record even more special is that they didn't set out to orbit with their smoother soul moments – with some really strong numbers in that vein, too. An underappreciated gem and that's the truth! This 2011 CD edition on Wounded Bird has 4 bonus versions: "Sunshine (Single Version)", "You + Me = Love (Single Version)", "You + Me = Love (Instrumental Edit)" and "Let's Go Down To The Disco (Single Version)".
