Carver Area High School/Carver Seniors Class Of 83Get Live 83/Carver Senior Song ... 12-inch
Challenger/Soul Jazz (UK), 1982. New Copy (pic cover, reissue)... $9.99 19.99
A high school record, but also one of the first hip hop singles to come out of Chicago! Given that in the early 80s, Chi-town was still focusing mostly on soul (and soon, house), the Windy City was way behind New York in terms of hip hop production – and most early rap efforts came out as novelty tunes by local personalities. But this little gem has a surprising level of quality – simple old school backings at best, copping a Sugarhill groove from the start – but some nicely scripted lyrics from a number of Carver High School seniors, presented in a way that's a bit more staid than the usual east coast single – but still quite nice! The flipside has a mellower cut – a cool "Senior Song" that's done like some laidback 80s R&B ballad, but with a more youthful vocal approach. 12-inch, Vinyl record

Gold Mind, 1977. Very Good- ... Out Of Stock
"Cheaters" is a fantastic club track – with great east coast Baker-Harris-Young production, great harmonies, and a groove that's half harmony soul and half disco! This 12" single features extended disco mixes of both tracks, too! 12-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ Double ExposureTen Per Cent (9:15, 7:07) ... 12-inch
Salsoul, 1976. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A fantastic track that mixed earlier east coast vocal soul with the burgeoning club/disco scene in Philly – not only a great piece of work in the harmony soul style of the 70s, but a massive dancefloor number served up by the godlike Norman Harris! 12-inch, Vinyl record

Ekapa, 1996. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
The top of the heap from the indie class of '96, where Jean Grae, then known as What What got her start. Dope rhymes over smooth, spare beats, from the prime years of the East coast underground. 12-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ Street PeopleI Wanna Spend My Whole Life With You/Wanna Slow Dance With You Baby ... 12-inch
Vigor, 1977. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A wonderful single from Street People – one that's got soaring harmonies that almost take us back to earlier east coast soul, but which are also put together with a tighter groove for the clubs! The cut's one of their best – and it really has the group hitting on all burners. The flipside's great too – a sweet mellow harmony number, but one with a slightly smooth polish too! 12-inch, Vinyl record
