new Funkdoobiest — Dedicated (album, Jazzy Jeff mix, Funkmaster Flex mix, J&B mix, inst, acapella) ... 12-inch
Immortal, 1992. Used .... $2.99 Out Of Stock
Funkdoobiest made their name rhyming about porno and weed, but on this one they take a moment to be a little more serious. Using amazing, mellow production, the track is "Dedicated" to people struggling to get by and those not making it, with one of the early, dope uses of Roy Ayer's "Sunshine" and the final line of the chorus "... I got to live, kid." Sure, it's sentimental, but it avoids the trite lyrics of some other "brothers and sisters who ain't here" rhymes. As a bonus all of the remixes, from Jazzy Jeff, Funkmaster Flex and J&B are completely different from, but at just about as dope as the original.
(Promo in a stickered sleeve.)
