Eric FeremansAntwerp Killer ... LP
Finders Keepers (UK), 1983. Near Mint- ... $16.99
A very cool electronic soundtrack for this obscure early 80s slasher film – music that's a lot more complex and sensitive than the usual sounds used for slashers – with a style that reminds us of some of the hippest late 70s music on the Sky Records label! Eric Feremens comes from a relatively similar place – working here on self-built synthesizers, tailored specially to produced these wonderful sounds and tones – not tinny commercial keyboards, but much more thoughtful electronic elements that make the music way more appealing than just its use in a film. In fact, this is one of the few soundtracks of its type that could stand alone as a batch of spacey electronics – far from the schlocky images on the screen. Titles include "Harbour Fight", "Persecution", "Lady", "Hippy Song", and "Beat". LP, Vinyl record album

Henry ManciniGunn . . . Number One! ... LP
RCA, 1968. Very Good ... $5.99
Nice 60s crime jazz from Mancini! Although Mancini's fame was made in the late 50s for his work on the classic Peter Gunn TV show, it's less known that he also did the score for the less-than-successful Peter Gunn film. Directed in 1967 by Blake Edwards, the film was a weak attempt to transfer the Gunn image to the big screen – but Mancini remained above the fray, as his solid scoring is just about the only thing we remember about the film today. The tracks include 60's remakes of some nice themes from the original show, plus a few other nice numbers thrown in for good measure. Recorded (as usual) in LA, with players like Bud Shank, Ray Brown, Plas Johnson, and Shelly Mann – and a set list that includes "Dreamsville", "Sky Watch", "A Bluish Bag", and "The Monkey Farm". ✨✧ VariousGuardians Of The Galaxy – Awesome Mix Tape Vol 2 ... CD
Hollywood, 1970s. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Did you think that Star Lord launched into space with only one special mixtape from his mom? Think again – as this second volume serves up an equally great array of pop tracks from the past – a mad musical mixup that made the second Guardians Of The Galaxy film every bit as enjoyable as the first! As before, most of these tracks are familiar, but they really sound great together – and hey, for the youngsters hearing them for the first time, they're a perfect path back to the musical genius of the 70s! Tracks include "Brandy" by Looking Glass, "Mr Blue Sky" by Electric Light Orchestra, "Fox On The Run" by Sweet, "Lake Shore Drive" by Aliotta Hayes Jeremiah, "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac, "Southern Nights" by Glen Campbell, "My Sweet Lord" by George Harrison, "Wham Bam Shang A Lang" by Silver, "Surrender" by Cheap Trick, and "Flashlight" by Parliament. Also includes "Guardians Inferno" – the fake disco tune at the end of the film, with vocals by David Hasselhoff! CD

✨✧ MonkeesHead ... LP
Colgems, 1968. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
A wonderfully trippy record by The Monkees, and the soundtrack to their equally trippy film from the late 60s. The music's like nothing else they ever did, and the record's a post-Sgt. Pepper's collage of sounds from the movie, weird little spoken bits, and delightfully psychedelic songs. Incidental music's by Ken Thorne, but the bulk of the tracks are by Jones, Tork, Nesmith, and Dolenz. Titles include "Porpoise Song", "Circle Sky", "Can You Dig It", "Gravy", and "Dandruff?" (Rock, Soundtracks) LP, Vinyl record album
(80s stereo Rhino reissue in the foil cover. Appears to be signed by Davy Jones & Micky Dolenz – possibly. Cover has edge wear, some surface wear.)

✨✧ Piero PiccioniIl Dio Sotto La Pelle (2CD edition – with bonus tracks) ... CD
Quartet (Spain), 1972. New Copy 2CD ... Out Of Stock
Beautiful grooves from the legendary Piero Piccioni – a set that's a great follow-up to some of his famous 60s work – touched with a few more sexy 70s touches than before, but in a way that's still extremely groovy! There's lots of electric piano lines on the set – almost a Stelvio Cipriani vibe at times – but these are mixed with fuller arrangements from Piero, with slinky woodwinds and some great rhythms that extrapolate styles from bossa nova, then go off in all these cool jazzy directions! The music was scored for a documentary of the "mondo" variety, but has a feel that's much more like the best love/sex soundtracks of the time – with titles that include "Katmandu", "Starless Sky", "Inventions", "It's Possible", "Nights To Come", "New Ways To Live", and "Love Will Find A Way". 2CD version features a whopping 49 tracks in all – over two hours of music, and a delight throughout! ✨✧ Wonderland PhilharmonicShogun Assassin ... LP
Baby Cart/Cinewax, 1980. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
The wildly influential soundtrack to Shogun Assassin – credited to The Wonderland Philharmonic, but co-produced and performed by Mark Lindsay of Paul Revere & The Raiders and disco guru W. Michael Lewis – heavy on moogy atmospherics and dialogue from the film! It's a triumph of oddly spacey action soundtrack composition, perhaps most famous for the huge influence on RZA's incredible peak-era Wu Tang production! Includes "The Legend Of The Lone Wolf", "Daigoro's Theme", "The Ninja", "Crimson Sky", "Dune", "Eyes Of A Demon" and more. LP, Vinyl record album
(UK reissue from 2011.)

✨✧ Oscar Brown Jr, Sivuca, & Jean PaceJoy ... LP
RCA, 1970. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Oscar Brown's score for a hip play that he wrote (one of his many plays!) – performed by him, Sivuca, and Jean Pace. Despite the "show" quality of the material, this actually stands simply as a great Oscar Brown Jr. LP, and the production is nice and intimate, and sounds just like an ordinary studio album. Sivuca's great, and his breathy voice and playing really open up Oscar Brown with some great Brazilian touches. And as usual, the writing's great, especially on tracks like "Brown Baby", "Mother Africa's Day", "Funky World", and the great version of "Afro Blue", featuring Oscar's classic lyrics. Also features a wonderful version of Johnny Alf's "Sky & Sea" – done by Sivuca with an incredible lilting groove! (Vocalists, Soundtracks) LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Mike CurbHot Wheels Original Soundtrack ... LP
Forward, 1969. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Classic 60s throwaway bubble gum pop to go with this soundtrack to the 60s Saturday morning cartoon Hot Wheels! All tracks have vocals, and the sound is somewhere between The Sunrays and The Lovin Spoonful – maybe not nearly as clever as either of them, but still pretty cool nonetheless, and produced by Mike Curb with a sound that's a lot better than a lot of his other work of the time. Titles include "Mothers", "It's Magic", "Sky Hawks", "Come Back Baby", and "Words & Music". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Francesco De MasiArizona Colt – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack ... CD
Beat (Italy), 1966. Used ... Out Of Stock
Horns, harmonica, and more – all wrapped up beautifully in the hands of soundtrack maestro Francesco De Masi! The core music for Arizona Colt is done with these soaring brass parts that really recreate the scope of the scene – bursting forth in full, yet gentle modes that really stretch out for the sky – intercut with mellower, more isolated sounds on harmonica from Franco DeGemini or guitar from Alessandro Alessandroni! I Cantori Modern sing just a bit on the record – especially on two vocal versions of the theme, sung by Raoul – and the CD features a whopping 31 tracks in all, with great remastering – and titles that include "Gordon Guitar", "Agguato Al Passo", "Sentieri Misteriosi", "Arizona Ferito", "Attesa E Dolore", "Arizona Colt", "Jane E Arizona", and "Preludio Strip Tease E Fuga". ✨✧ Ron Geesin with Bridget St JohnSunday Bloody Sunday (with bonus tracks) ... LP
Trunk (UK), 1971. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Ron Geesin's a British arranger with a host of amazing talents – from early work in the exotica field, to a famous collaboration with Roger Waters – always handled with a mindblowing sense of sound and scope! Here, he delivers a superb score for the film Sunday Bloody Sunday – a dark-themed drama that's given backing by Geesin that's maybe even more illuminating than the images on the screen at times – as Ron captures a moody vibe in perfect ways, but also changes things up a fair bit instrumentally – which makes each new selection feel very different, even though they are unified in mood. Bridget St John sings on the track "Chemical Dreams", and plays guitar on "Motoring Sparkle" – and other titles include "Intriguing Cables", "Sky High Balloons", "Piccadilly Bustle", "Blitzful Memories", and "Affections For String Quartet". Plus, the LP also features great bonus tracks from other Geesin projects – four more tracks from a 1985 documentary on Viv Richards, and six more from a 1970 documentary on mental health, titled "Shapes In A Wilderness" – both a great match for the main score.
