Mindblowing work from Swiss jazz and funk legend Bruno Spoerri – all of it never issued before, and a set that maybe comes across as some of the coolest music we've ever heard from Bruno! Spoerri has a long legacy of recordings – including straight jazz in the 60s, and sound library funk in the 70s – and here, he's mixing funky jazz with some great work on keyboards too – sometimes at a level that's more electronic than usual, especially on two of the album's long improvised tracks! There's also a funky big band at points too – really providing a great groove, and a rich sort of variety that makes the whole thing a treasure trove of music from an artist who never lets us down. Titles include "Hot Roots", "Improvisation Electronique 1", "Prince Karl", "For FD", "Summerau Dance", and "Improvisation Electronique 2". (Jazz, Sound Library)LP, Vinyl record album
An underground funky gem – one that never made it past the collections of the elite sound library audience in the 70s – but which is well deserving of global acclaim! Yan Tregger works here in this style that's every bit as funky as his contemporaries on bigger library labels, but which also shows a strong love of club music too – not straight disco, at least not in any sort of "easy" way – but a real ear for just the right sort of basslines, keyboard parts, and uptempo rhythms to keep things moving throughout! Given the all-instrumental approach, think of this set as a jazzy take on clubby grooves – or maybe an instrumental funk record for the clubs – with great cuts that include "The Girl In The Gold", "Dawn & Darkness", "Friend Island", "The Last Girl", "Haunting Refrain", "Girls Will Be Girls", and "The Way Of All Flesh". Poznanska Orkiestra Rozrywkowa PRITV —
Magma (with bonus tracks) ... CD Polskie Radio/GAD (Poland), 1978. New Copy ...
Temporarily Out Of Stock
The magma here is plenty hot – cooked up with a blend of funky rhythms and soaring strings – all with a mighty strong nod to disco styles of the time! Yet the music is also a bit more diverse, too – bringing in soaring soundtrack modes, almost creating a cop/crime TV show vibe on a few tracks – while others go for more of a straight groove that would be perfect for the club! The titles are a bit hard to pronounce, but the set's all instrumental, and has a very universal appeal – on tracks that include "Disco In E", "Magma", "Temat", "Latajacy Spodek", "Marzenie", and "Czarna Gwiazda". CD features four bonus tracks too! CD

Phasing News Vol 2 ... LP Tele Music/Be With (UK), 1976. New Copy (reissue)...

Sweet work from Michel Gonet – one of the unsung geniuses of the French 70s sound library scene! The album's a mixed bag of styles – in that about half the tracks feature lots of synthesizer and percussion, moogily stating themes that range from fast and groovy to mellower and spacey. The other half of the set is straight soundtrack funk – and includes some really great numbers with tight drums, funky bass, and cool wah-wah and keyboard bits! Titles include "Devil Dance", "Flower Dance", "Happy Smith", "Phasing Cymbals", "Phasing Percussions", and "Phasing Suspense". LP, Vinyl record album
