2 classics from The Sensations – both topped off by the belting vocals of singer Yvonne Baker! "Let Me In" is the group's standout classic – a snapping, snare-heavy tune that kicks along at a catchy little clip – and "Oh Yes I'll Be True" is deeper, mellower soul – but still with a nice snare too! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Original pressing with "Sold Brothers" misprint. Labels have stickers obscuring the company logo. Vinyl plays with light noise and has a few marks that click.)
Brilliant work! Would music ever be this great again? We're hard pressed to think so. Trevor Horn, fresh from his vamped-up work with Yes, hits the beat box with the Dudley, Horn, and Jeczalik team, and comes up with these crossover instrumental tunes that took a hip hop groove to the next level, shoved together sheets of sound and noises, and probably influenced the sound of 95% of TV commercials in the 90s! 7-inch, Vinyl record
Common, yes, but it's still a classic, and an original 45 with two great cuts from the soundtrack! "Shaft" is that track that you've heard a million times – but which is still an undeniable funky pleasure year after year. "Cafe Reggios" is a smooth guitar-based instrumental, with a dope O'Donel Levy kind of groove that's just great! 7-inch, Vinyl record
Nice! We don't know if this is the same Love, Devotion, & Happiness that later recorded for RCA – but the single's an obscure one, on a tiny Chicago label, with arrangements by Tom Tom Washington. "Joy Sweet Joy" is a nice mellow mid-tempo track, with a dope production sound, and sweet soulful female vocals. 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Vinyl has an edge chip, and plays with a click at the very beginning of "Joy")
One of our favorite cuts ever from Main Source – the tremendous "Looking At The Front Door", a tune that rides strongly on a great Donald Byrd sample to give it a righteous jazzy groove! Single also includes "Snake Eyes" from the Breaking Atoms LP – and the feel of this limited pic disc 45 is mighty nice! (Hip Hop, Funky 45's)7-inch, Vinyl record
Two less-remembered Sam & Dave tunes from the Stax years – both written and produced by Issac Hayes and David Porter, but rediscovered years later after blockbuster sampling by DR Period for MOP! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(With Atlantic sleeve. Label on A Side has a small sticker. B Side is mis-labeled but corrected in pen.)
