Yukihiro FukutomiEquality (with bonus tracks) ... CD
File/Pantone (UK), 2004. Used ... $4.99
The best full-length set to date from Yukihiro Fukutomi – a stone solid batch of grooves that's made even better by a list of guest vocalists that include Lady Alma, Rich Medina, Ernesto, and Victor Davies! Fukutomi's really at the top of his game here – working in a warm style of house that shares a heck of a lot with the best sounds coming out of the New York scene at the moment – and which has a richly soulful quality that takes the music way beyond the dancefloor! There's a similar feel here to recent work from Louie Vega, crossed with a bit of the cosmic sense of the London scene – and tracks include "Equality (part 2)", "Peace", "All Over The World", "Cat & Mouse", "Love Is To Blame (Don Carlos contemporary house mix)", "Road To Nowhere", "The Tambour", and "Continuous Function". CD features 14 tracks in all – including bonus tracks "Peace (Dimitri From Paris Backtrackin radio)" and "Equality (Blackbeard radio edit)". CD

Yukihiro FukutomiEquality Remixes ... CD
File (Japan), 2005. Used ... $19.99
One of those great cases where a remix album is almost completely different than the original – thanks to the host of creative talents brought in to handle the set! Yukihiro Fukutomi's original Equality album was certainly one of our standout favorites of 2004 – and the album's got so much power, it's still breaking all over the world at a later date. So leave it to Fukutomi to arrange for a set of new takes on the album's tracks – cast in a way that almost make us feel like we're getting a whole new record, but still retaining enough of the elements of the first to remind us why we liked it so much! Vocals are by Lady Alma, Rich Medina, Isabelle Antena, and Ernesto – and titles include "Equality (Ysst rmx 2005)", "Hooked (Jazztronik rmx)", "Continuous Function (YF's another mix)", "Is It (Breakthrough rmx)", "Peace (Dim's backtrackin rmx)", "Love Is To Blame (contemporary house mix)", and "Peace (Mark De Clive-Lowe rmx)". ✨✧ Monday MichiruBrasilified Nights ... CD
Hydra (Japan), 2014. Used ... Out Of Stock
Monday Michiru returns to one of our favorite modes from her early years – collaborative grooves cut with some of the best talents of the underground – all of whom breathe incredible new life into her Brasilified album! We loved that record to death – and so did most of you – but the work here is almost even better – as it brings Monday's soulful vocals back to the sort of grooves that first won her fame on the international scene – as the jazz and Brazilian elements of the core record are still held intact, but the rhythms are wonderfully varied, and move seamlessly into a clubby vibe too – thanks to work by Little Louie Vega, Yukihiro Fukutomi, Steal Vibe, Black Edition, Zero DB, and others! Yet there's also a surprisingly unified feel to the record too – no jumps in spirit and sound from track to track – and we attribute that not just to the work of the remixers, but also to their respect of Michiru's music. Titles include "Brasilified (Yukihiro Fukutomi rmx)", "Bossamore (Zero DB rmx)", "Zanzibar (Louie Vega EOL mix)", "New Morning (Black Edition rmx)", "Sunrise (Steal Vybe's journey into the sun rmx)", and "Celebrate (Blk Mrks main room navigation mix)". ✨✧ Re:JazzRe:Jazz (Re:Mix) (US version) ... CD
Infracom/Kriztal, 2003. Used ... Out Of Stock
From the dancefloor, to the jazz combo, and back again – the Re:Jazz project takes a surprising twist with this remix follow-up to their brilliant first album! On that outing, Re:Jazz re-made recent dancefloor tunes in new jazz-based versions – going for the warmest, most soulful elements of the tunes – and placing them in a tradition of acoustic jazz dance classics. Here, those re-made versions are given a re-mix treatment – but in a very careful way, one that really preserves the jazzy magic of the originals! It's confusing, we know – but once you catch the warm grooves of the set, you won't care about where they're coming from – as the sum of the total is far greater than any of its tremendous parts! And speaking of parts, the set features remix work by Nicola Conte, RAS, Swell Session, Les Gammas, Dublix Inc, Jazztronik, Bugge Wesseltoft, Yukihiro Fukutomi, and others – on tunes from the original album that include "Style", "Second Sight", "Arena", "People Come Running", "Quiet Nights", "My Love Is Higher", "Torch Of Freedom", and "Release Your Mind".
