✨✧ WilcoAM ... CD
Reprise, 1995. Used ... Just Sold Out!
A timeless jangly country rock album from a band that didn't sound like it was setting out to reinvent the wheel, even if they ultimately almost did! At the time, pressure was pretty high to live up the preceding legacy of the Uncle Tupelo and contemporaneous debut of Son Volt, but in hindsight, this is just a straight up, no bs, solid, tuneful batch of songs that don't sound at first like they're among best of their kind until you realize you're humming and singing them to yourself days, years and decades later! Includes "I Must Be High", "I Thought I Held You", "Dash 7", "Blue Eyed Soul", "Shouldn't Be Ashamed", "It's Just That Simple", "Casino Queen" and more. CD

✨✧ WilcoBeing There ... CD
Nonesuch, 1996. Used 2 CDs ... Just Sold Out!
A modern country rock masterpiece. Wilco's second album, an unlikely (for its time) major label double album does an incredible job of showing stylistic breadth and sprawl behind lyrical and emotional consistency, arrangements-wise recalling the best of the band's more adventurously rootsy forbears enough to not unfairly call it "alt-country" at the time, but it's ultimately timeless. Here we are decades later and it doesn't sound like it's aged a day. Includes "Misunderstood", "Far, Far Away", "Red-Eyed And Blue", "Forget the Flowers", "Outta Mind (Outta Sight)", "Kingpin", "Whole Would You Wanna Live", "Dreamer In My Dreams" and more. CD

✨✧ WilcoSky Blue Sky ... CD
Nonesuch, 2007. Used ... $2.99
Seminal work from Wilco – one of those key records where they were firmly establishing themselves as one of the most solid, complete bands of their generation – maybe hitting instant classic status with an album like this! The set's both very contemporary and true to their roots – the kind of set you'd swear you heard on AM radio back in the 70s, but which never would have gotten played back then – thanks to the ever-sharpening songwriting skills of Jeff Tweedy, and the overall musicianship and production skills of the group. Titles include "Walken", "Leave Me Like You Found Me", "Either Way", "You Are My Face", "Impossible Germany", "Side With The Seeds", "Please Be Patient With Me", "Hate It Here", and "On & On & On". CD
(Includes slipcase.)

WilcoSummerteeth (blue vinyl pressing) ... LP
Reprise/Rhino, 1999. New Copy 2LP (reissue)... $31.99 34.99
A major milestone for Wilco – and still one of their best albums! Here's where they really started to shift gears from rootsy, alt country towards more unpredictable, still warmly approachable art rock. Summerteeth is still recognizable as the work of the passionate, rootsier rock band of the first couple albums, but with more adventurous sounds and instrumentation – woozy keyboards, a growing knack for studio-built atmospherics and a much more metaphorical lyrical bent. Titles include "Can't Stand It", "She's A Jar", "We're Just Friends", "Pieholden Suite", "Candyfloss", "A Shot In The Arm" and more. LP, Vinyl record album
(Rhino Rocktober 2024 pressing – on opaque blue vinyl!)

WilcoYankee Hotel Foxtrot (white vinyl pressing) ... LP
Nonesuch, 2002. New Copy 2LP Gatefold (reissue)... $31.99 34.99
Wilco's post-millennium masterpiece! After years of adventurous sounds and increasingly poetic lyrics being subtly layered over their country rock roots, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was such a radical departure from their first couple albums that it was legendary upon arrival. What's so amazing about it is that it's essentially an art rock album with rootsy heart, somehow carrying the emotional resonance of earlier heart-on-sleeve songcraft with hardly a twangy riff to be found. Titles include "Kamera", "Radio Cure", "Jesus Etc", "Heavy Metal Drummer", "Reservations", "Poor Places", "Pot Kettle Black", "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart", and "Ashes Of American Flags". LP, Vinyl record album
(Indie exclusive white vinyl pressing.)

✨✧ Billy Bragg & WilcoMermaid Avenue Vol 2 ... CD
Elektra, 2000. Used ... Out Of Stock
The second volume in Billy Bragg & Wilco's Mermaid Avenue series – dedicated to bringing to life unfinished Woody Guthrie tunes – thanks to Woody's daughter Nora inviting them to work with Guthrie's lyrics, penned throughout his life, but never finished as recorded songs. Bragg's take is straight-forward, strong-voiced folk, and Wilco takes creative twists and turns with their versions, making for a compellingly diverse bunch of songs. Includes "Airline To Heaven", "Feed Of Man", "Hot Rod Hotel", "I Was Born", "Remember The Mountain Bed", "Meanest Man", "Somebody Some Morning Sometime", "Joe DiMaggio Done It Again", "Blood Of The Lamb" and more. ✨✧ WilcoOde To Joy ... LP
dBpm, 2019. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
The first in a few years from Jeff Tweedy's flagship operation, certainly not the longest gap between Wilco albums, but given Tweedy's prolificacy in recent years and a solid solo album released just a few months earlier, we feel a little lucky to have them back so soon! Ode To Joy is sort of a sly title, as it's their later period subtly arty folk rock in sound and performance, as opposed to a Wilco take on sunshine rock, or a literal riff on Beethoven. Subtle and restrained without dispensing with their distinct avant flourishes all together – but knowing how far they can reach stylistically, the restraint gives it an interesting edge, especially on the songs with heavier personal lyricism. Titles include "Bright Leaves", "Before Us", "One In A Half Stars", "Quiet Amplifier", "Everyone Hides", "White Wooden Crosses", "We Were Lucky", "Citizens", "Love Is Everywhere (Beware)", "Hold Me Anyway" and "An Empty Corner". ✨✧ WilcoWilco (The Album) ... CD
Nonesuch, 2009. Used ... Out Of Stock
Wilco continuing the looser, less self-consciously experimental, more straightforward songcraft road they'd been traveling on since Sky Blue Sky, after the art rock leaning previous few LPs – including the classic Yankee Hotel Foxtrot – but Wilco being Wilco, their version of straight forward songcraft has more depth and diverse instrumentation than just about any other contemporary rock peers! And after some years of feeling underserved by the "alt country" tag and steering clear of anything too twangy, it's kinda nice to hear the more lap steal and Byrds-y harmonies back in the fold without discarding the art rock textures. Good stuff from a great band in it for the long haul! Includes "Wilco (The Song)", "Deeper Down", "One Wing", "Bull Black Nova", "You And I", "You Never Know", "Country Disappeared", "Solitaire", "I'll Fight", "Sonny Feeling" and "Everlasting Everything". ✨✧ Uncle TupeloAnodyne ... CD
Sire/Reprise, 1993. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Uncle Tupelo's excellent, unfussy, fairly timeless final album – with equally good songs written by Jay Farrar and Jeff Tweedy that sound great together even if it's pretty clear in retrospect that they were soon to split up for good. The difference between Uncle Tupelo's loud guitar ragers and folk and roots infused songcraft got a lot more seamless over their years as a band, and on Anodyne they tend to let their rootsier influences shine a little brighter without sacrificing the grit and muscle of the more electric material. This one notably features John Stirratt and Ken Coomer, soon to join Tweedy in Wilco. Includes "Slate", "Acuff-Rose", "The Long Cut", a cover of Doug Sahm's "Give Back The Key To My Heart" featuring Sahm himself on vocals, "Chickamauga", "Anodyne", "15 Keys", "High Water", "Steal The Crumbs" and more. ✨✧ Mavis StaplesOne True Vine ... CD
Anti, 2013. Used ... Out Of Stock
Mavis Staples makes a big nod here to the indie underground that have really helped support her recent comeback – working with production from Jeff Tweedy of Wilco, who also contributed new songs to the record – alongside Alan Sparhawk of Low, and the legendary Nick Lowe too! The setting is nicely understated at times – in a mode that's gentler, and not nearly as forceful as some of Staples other comeback recordings – a change that we really appreciate a lot, as Tweedy seems to find a folksy element in Mavis' singing that hasn't been captured this well in years. Titles include a remake of the Funkadelic classic "Can You Get To That" – plus "Holy Ghost", "Sow Good Seeds", "What Are They Doing In Heaven These Days", "One True Vine", and "Far Celestial Shore". ✨✧ Harry Roche ConstellationSpiral (180 gram white vinyl pressing) ... LP
Music On Vinyl (Netherlands), 1973. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
One of the grooviest records ever cut by Brit easy maestro Harry Roche – and a set that's got plenty of sweet 70s touches in the mix, at a level that really opens things up in a great way! The set's got some key Fender Rhodes from Alaln Branscombe, who has a very unique touch on the instrument – and in addition to Harry's own work on valve trombone, the record also features Ray Swinfield on flute, Chris Pyne on trombone, and Roy Wilcox on soprano and alto sax. There's plenty of other jazz players in the mix too, grooving to sweet arrangements from David Lindup, Derek Cox, Pete Moore, and others – on titles that include "Superwoman", "Pinball Wizard", "Good Morning Heartache", "Lay Lady Lay", "Ludmilla's Theme", "That's Living", and the 10 minute title track, "Spiral" – a mighty nice number!
