✨✧ VariousIndustrial Accident – The Story of Wax Trax! Records (Blu-Ray – deluxe edition with bonus disc) ... DVD
Wax Trax, 2019. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A beautiful tribute to one of the greatest record stores of all time – and a place that was crucial in the formation of what we do at Dusty Groove too! Wax Trax Records began as a store in Denver in the mid 70s – influencing a generation of young punks in that city, before then moving to Chicago a few years later – where it became a key outpost for all sorts of underground culture from around the globe! We grew up as young shoppers in the store, and it forever changed the way we thought about music – and this fantastic film really gets at everything that made the place great, and then follows the growth of Wax Trax as they launched a label that gave them an even stronger global impact by the end of the 80s. The film's also tells the love store of the couple behind the legend – Jim Nash and Dannie Flesher – and features commentary and contributions from an all-star lineup that includes Steve Albini, Dave Grohl, Jello Biafra, Al Jourgensen, David J, Richard 23, Ian Mackaye, Trent Reznor, and many others – plus an insane amount of vintage footage that reminds us how exciting a city Chicago used to be! Special bonus – this package also features 75 more minutes of extra footage – longer parts of the interviews used to create the film. DVD
(Includes over 75 minutes of bonus footage!)

CoilLove's Secret Domain (30th anniversary edition – amber vinyl pressing) ... LP
Wax Trax, 1991. New Copy 2LP (reissue)... $37.99 40.00
A really surprising set from Coil – a record that has the group sticking strongly to their roots as a more experimental industrial act, at a time when so many of their contemporaries from that scene were just heading for the dancefloor! Make no mistake, there's still plenty of groove-oriented moments – but there's also plenty of weird sonic elements taking place too – all sorts of odd sounds that are abstracted beyond their referent, but handled skillfully – at a level that maybe has Coil maturing a lot more than so many others who were working in this territory. This isn't noise for noise sake, but very thoughtful repositing of a variety of different sounds and musical elements – served up in ways that are maybe even better than anything else the group did on previous records. Titles include "Dark River", "Teenage Lightning", "Disco Hospital", "The Snow", "Further Back & Faster", "Windopane", "Titan ARch", "Chaostrophy", and "Love's Secret Domain". LP, Vinyl record album
(A beautiful heavy vinyl pressing – with a 16 page booklet of notes!)

✨✧ Naked RaygunOver The Overlords (deluxe edition – with bonus 12 inch) ... LP
Wax Trax, 2021. New Copy 2LP ... Out Of Stock
The first record in many many years from Chicago legends Naked Raygun – but a set that makes us feel like we're still with the group back in the days when they had all their best qualities fully intact! The interplay between blistering guitar lines and anthemic lyrics is fantastic – focused with that energy that not only set the group apart from so many of their contemporaries, but which also maybe left a special sort of midwestern imprint on the music – qualities that still shine brightly throughout! If you have any doubts at all that the group's still got what it takes, then put those aside and dive right into the kind of set you would have treasured back in the 80s – still sounding somehow as urgent and important all these many years later. Titles include "Broken Things", "Ode To Sean McKeough", "Farewell To Arms", "Soul Hole Baby", "Living In The Good Times", and "Treat Me Unkind". Limited 2LP version – with Paul Barker remix and unreleased live tracks! LP, Vinyl record album
(Limited to 1000 copies.)

Brian ShanleyDodged & Burned – Seminal Rock Photography 1976-1984 ... Book
HoZac, 2020. New Copy ... $16.99 20.00
An incredible document of the punk and post punk era live music scene in Chicago by Brian Shanley – a photographer and designer who shot so many iconic bands and did design work for Wax Trax Records early on – and this book of his black & whites is pretty breathtaking if you have even a passive interest in punk or Chicago live music history in general! It captures some of the earliest Chicago appearances by solo era Iggy Pop,The Ramones, Bauhaus, Pere Ubu, Patti Smith, Motorhead, The Dead Boys and so many more, pics from some of the legendary suburban Chicago gigs in Wheeling and Schaumburg by punk bands back in the day with gigs in the city proper were harder to get, shots of seminal Chicago bands like Skafish and Tutu & The Pirates around town, shots of X in their own LA stomping grounds, Television and others at their CBGBs home base – it's one amazing shot after another here. After a short foreword and intro the book is almost all photos, every one of them vital. Book

VariousShake The Foundations – Militant Funk & The Post Punk Dancefloor 1978 to 1984 (3CD set) ... CD
Cherry Red (UK), Late 70s/Early 80s. New Copy 3CD ... $29.99 38.99
A funny thing happened to British music after the initial explosion of punk in the late 70s – it got surprisingly funky, in all sorts of weird ways that helped the new music cross over to the dancefloor – maybe inspired by American funk and soul, but coming off with a very different vibe overall! The basslines are key – and some of these groups really make amazing use of the brooding sounds of the instrument, picked up a few notches in pace – while others might include some snapping drums that could come as a surprise if you were expecting things to only stay in the moody dark corners of the postpunk universe! This package is a great overview of the way the groove picked up on the UK scene at the end of the 70s – very different than American disco, and with an offbeat current that then influenced the New York scene in the early 80s, and went on to have ripples in Chicago, both for Wax Trax and the early house music artists too. 3CD set features a very detailed booklet of notes – and 49 gems by artists who include The Passage, Blue Rondo A La Turk, A Certain Ratio, Tones On Tail, Kissing The Pink, Thomas Leer, Fashion, Wide Boy Awake, Vicious Pink, Modern Romance, C Cat Trance, Animal Magic, Surface Mutants, Furniture, Pop Group, Machine Gun Hogg & Co, Glaxo Babies, Family Fodder, London Underground, Nightmares In Wax, Haircut 100, 23 Skiddoo, Ian Dury, Shock, Visage, Paul Haig, and others. ✨✧ MinistryLand Of Rape & Honey ... LP
Sire, 1988. Near Mint- ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A huge moment for Ministry – and the record that strongly brought forward all the underground styles that Al Jourgenson was bringing to the Chicago scene! The vocals and overall sound are a lot rawer than ever before – especially the earliest Ministry music, which was more in a Brit pop mode – and the record is honestly more of a Wax Trax release, as it shows Al's strong links to the industrial underground that had grown up around that Chicago label – as well as a surprising interest in hardcore too. Recorded in both Chicago and London, with some great guest work from Chris Connelly (onetime Dusty Groove employee!) – and titles that include "Deity", "The Missing", "Destruction", "Golden Dawn", "Stigmata", "Land Of Rape & Honey", and "Flashback". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has a cutout notch, light surface wear, and a bent corner at the back panel.)
