Vernon JoynsonPotpouri Of Melodies & Mayhem – Latin American & Canadian Rock, Pop, Beat, R&B, Folk, Garage, Psych, & Prog 1963 to 1976 (paperback) ... Book
Borderline (Scotland), 2017. New Copy Book ... $79.99 99.99
A long-overdue book from this legendary expert on psychedelia – a huge volume that matches the depth of Vernon Joynson's Tapestry Of Delights, but which looks at the rich legacy of music in Canada and Latin America! If you think there's not much to talk about here, then think again – because the book is huge, and overflowing with page after page of information on groups who never got full exposure at the time – amazing acts who were plenty darn experimental, and often in ways that were different than Anglo psych artists at the time. The book even gets into richer strands of Brazilian music – rightly giving Tropicalia and MPB artists some overdue credit in the world of psych – and the book offers up listings on hundreds of groups, along with information on their members, their record, and their histories – alongside hundreds of album covers too. The whole thing is huge – a super-heavy 884 pages, very large and detailed – with most images in black and white, but some color images in the middle. Book

Vernon Joynson (UK), 2017. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A fantastic volume on music – penned by the same expert on psychedelia who gave the world the crucial books Fuzz Acid & Flowers and Tapestry Of Delights! Like those books, this one's a very detailed overview of rare strands of trippy work from the underground of the late 60s and early 70s – mostly the psychedelic styles that drove the other two volumes – but also a more expanded global palette that includes some funky and groovy bits as well! The book is huge – and offers up both artist listings, album reviews, and discographical information – with page after page of information that you'd never come across otherwise – which is saying a lot in these days of online music writing. The book is super-heavy, and well worth the high price tag – as, like the other volumes, it's due to become a well-thumbed volume in your collection, with a constantly illuminating flow of details that will help guide your music listening. 762 pages, softcover, with lots of black and white images, and a small color section in the middle.
