George Adams/Don PullenLive At The Village Vanguard ... LP
Soul Note (Italy), 1985. Near Mint- ... $19.99
Open, swinging live work from the George Adams/Don Pullen Quartet – and a set that shows both the group's sense of jazz tradition, and their willingness to play with it on their own terms! The tracks here are all quite long, jamming numbers – built on lively rhythms from the bass of Cameron Brown and drums of Dannie Richmond, and featuring a mix of exploratory solos and more swinging moments from Adams on tenor and Pullen on piano. Titles include a great reading of the Mingus tune "Diane" – plus "The Necessary Blues", "Intentions", and "Solitude" – all of which are over 13 minutes long! LP, Vinyl record album

Impulse, 1961/1977. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold ... $24.99
Excellent 2LP set that brings together material that was recorded during 'Trane's first live recording session at the Village Vanguard in 1961. If you know the historic Vanguard LP, then you know how great this stuff is, and you especially know that Dolphy joins in on most of the tracks on alto and bass clarinet. The band is excellent, and is agumented on one track by Ahmed Abdul-Malik's oud playing. The set includes "India", "Greensleeves", "Spiritual", "Untitled Original", and "Chasin' The Trane" – all done in nice long long takes! LP, Vinyl record album

Bobby HutchersonIn The Vanguard ... LP
Landmark, 1986. New Copy ... $4.99
A subtle gem from Bobby Hutcherson's wonderful years on Landmark Records – a point when he was really getting back to basics, and cutting some great straight work that almost hearkened back to his 60s gems on Blue Note! The set's recorded live at the Village Vanguard – and Bobby swings soulfully in a great quartet with Kenny Barron on piano, Buster Williams on bass, and Al Foster on drums. Hutcherson's playing both vibes and marimba – and the scope of his playing here has both grown from earlier years, awash with tones, colors, and light – which Barron and Williams are only happy to fill in more deeply. Titles include "I Wanna Stand Over There", "Little Niles", "Estate", "Well You Needn't", and "Young & Foolish". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Thad Jones & Mel LewisThad Jones & Mel Lewis Live At The Village Vanguard ... LP
Solid State, 1967. Very Good Gatefold ... $2.99
One of the first albums in a long line of successes from the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra – recorded live in their home turf at the Village Vanguard! The group at this point was a freshly-created outfit filled with some of the best large group jazz soloists of the time – players that included Jerome Richardson, Joe Farrell, Eddie Daniels, Pepper Adams, Richard Williams, and Bob Brookmeyer – not to mention Jones and Lewis themselves! The style here is very much in the mode that the Clarke Boland Band was crafting in Europe during the same period – a redefinition of the larger jazz group, in a way that allowed it to swing with the dynamic energy and soul of some of the smaller combos of the 60s. And while the Jones/Lewis group had many years over which to hone their craft, they've never sounded better than on these initial recordings – as you'll hear on tracks that include "Samba Con Getchu", "A That's Freedom", "Bachafillen", and "Little Pixie". Vanguard/Wounded Bird, 1966. New Copy ... $10.99 14.99
The debut album from a group who became a seminal bridge on the Chicago scene in the 60s – a blue-eyed blues quartet who got their start on the south side, then helped bring the music up north! The group have an edge here that's sharper than you might expect – maybe in part because the set was issued on the Vanguard label, who really hang on to some sort of folk blues roots, and don't try to polish these guys up too much. But they're also young, gritty, and full of fire – and Corky Siegel sounds better than we remember on vocals and harmonica, next to some mighty great guitar work from the young Jim Schwall! Titles include "Down In The Bottom", "When I Get The Time", "Boot Hill", "Mama/Papa", "Going To New York", "Little Babe", and "I'll Be The Man". CD features two bonus tracks – "Howlin For My Darlin" and "I've Had All I Can Take" – early demos from Corky and Jim, as the Two Man Blues Band. CD

VariousFor Discos Only – Indie Dance Music From Fantasy & Vanguard Records – 1976 to 1981 (3CD set) ... CD
Fantasy/Craft, Late 70s/Early 80s. New Copy 3CD ... $31.99 35.99
Rare singles from the glory days of the American club music scene – most of which were only issued as promo release – hence the "for discos only" in the title! The package looks at the wealth of material issued by the Fantasy and Vanguard family of labels in the late 70s – imprints that have never fully gotten their due, in comparison to companies like Salsoul or Philadelphia International – even though they made an equally huge contribution to the world of funky grooves! In fact, given that Fantasy owned Prestige and other jazz labels at the time, they also had a longer heritage in soulful music – which often made some of their singles these real mini-masterpieces in sound. Vanguard was equally unusual, but in a different way – as disco and club were relatively new to their catalog – which almost seemed to give them a freedom to be a bit more experimental than some of the bigger companies working the dancefloors. The result is a great collection of really creative, really upbeat material – almost all of which is nice and extended, and presented here on the rare 12" single versions. Titles include "Til You Surrender (special rmx)" by Rainbow Brown, "Rock Creek Park (rmx)" by The Blackbyrds, "No One Can Do It Like You (12" special Shep Pettibone rmx)", "Chill Out (12" version)" by Free Expression, "I Don't Know What's On Your Mind (special 12" mix)" by Spiders Webb, "Over & Over (special 12" disco)" by Sylvester, "Turn The Music Up (12" disco)" by Players Association, "Beat Of The Night (special 12" disco)" by Fever, "Party Vibes (special 12" disco)" by Ike Turner & Home Grown Funk, "You've Got Me Dancing In My Sleep (special remaster)" by Frisky, "Boogie City (special 12" disco mix)" by Phil Hurtt, "Space Bass (special 12" disco)" by Slick, "Mondo Man (12" version)" by Roni Griffith, "It's Music (special 12" disco)" by Damon Harris, "Always There (special 12" disco)" by Side Effect, "For Your Love (special 12" disco)" by Idris Muhammad, "Straight To The Bank (special 12" disco)" by Bill Summers, "Boogie With Me (12" disco)" by Poussez, "Don't Know What To Say" by The Blackbyrds, "I'm The One" by Rainbow Brown, "I Got The Feeling (Patrick Cowley megamix)" by Two Tons O Fun, "Dance (special 12" disco)" by Paradise Express, and "Savage Lover (12" disco long vocal)" by The Ring. ✨✧ John ColtraneLive At The Village Vanguard Again! ... LP
Impulse, 1966. Very Good+ Gatefold ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
John Coltrane returns to the Village Vanguard – but his sound here is a lot more far-reaching than a few years before! The album's a great counterpart to the first Vanguard session – as it takes all of the bold, soaring energy of that date, and balances it with the newly introspective sound of the later Coltrane years – plus some of the freedoms learned from the Love Supreme era. The group here showcases the new territory explored by Coltrane – with Trane himself on tenor, soprano, and a bit of bass clarinet (echoing earlier Dolphy), plus Pharoah Sanders on additional tenor, Alice Coltrane on piano, Jimmy Garrison on bass, and Rasheid Ali on drums. The album only features 2 long tracks – an incredibly soulful version of "Naima", and a very firey version of "My Favorite Things", but one that begins with a haunting bass solo by Garrison! ✨✧ Sonny RollinsNight At The Village Vanguard ... LP
Blue Note, 1957. Very Good+ ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
One of the greatest Sonny Rollins records ever! The set is a legendary batch of trio tracks that feature Sonny working in a format that is incredibly free for the time, and which show him as more of a modernist than a bopper – although his solos are still pretty darn fantastic from a bop perspective – stretching out in free, piano-less space – really cutting some amazing edges, and blown in tones we might never have expected from Rollins a few years before. The group is beautifully open ended – with Wilbur Ware on bass and Elvin Jones on drums, and both of them in their best mode of the late 50s. Titles include "Softly As In A Morning Sunset", "Sonny Moon For Two", and "Striver's Row". Great stuff, and one of the best sides that Blue Note ever cut! LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Woody ShawStepping Stones – Live At The Village Vanguard (expanded edition) ... CD
Columbia/Legacy, 1978. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Soulful brilliance from Woody Shaw – a searing live set that matches the power of earlier classics like Moontrane and Blackstone Legacy! The album's got Woody working with a heck of a great group – Carter Jefferson on tenor and soprano sax, Onaje Allan Gumbs on piano, Clint Houston on bass, and Victor Lewis on drums – all of whom come together with just the right mix of earthy grooving and spiritual searching that puts Woody in his best light. Jefferson is especially great – as it's his soaring work on reeds that really give the album a sense of spirit – but credit should also be giving to the well-knit rhythm team, whose ability to push out in flowing lines of power really raises the energy of the performance. Titles include "Stepping Stone", "In A Capricornian Way", "Seventh Avenue", and "Theme For Maxine". CD features 3 bonus tracks, 2 unissued – "Blues For Ball", "All Things Being Equal Are Not", and "Escape Velocity". CD

Riverside/OJC, 1961. Used ... Out Of Stock
One of Bill Evans' landmark sessions with the young bassist Scott LaFaro – a player who made key contributions on every record he touched, then left this earth far too soon in his career! The live session's a perfect demonstration of the way that the Evans trio format not only re-worked the use of the piano in jazz, but also the bass and drums as well – as LaFaro's deeply evocative playing is paired with the equally fresh drum work of Paul Motian – heard here at his youthful early best, before some of his contributions to jazz had become cliche in the hands of other players. The session was caught live at the Village Vanguard on the night of June 25, 1961 – and titles include longish takes on "Solar", "Jade Visions", "Gloria's Step", and "Alice In Wonderland". CD

One of the most open-ended sessions ever recorded by the Great Jazz Trio of Hank Hones, Ron Carter, and Tony Williams – a live set from the Village Vanguard, and one that features them really stretching out on 4 longer tracks! Jones' work on piano is an especially nice treat here – as he's still got the poise that we know from his more restrained studio sessions, yet also seems to really loosen up with the warm rhythm accompaniment of Carter and Williams. The session features a great obscure gentle groover titled "Wind Flower", plus a really introspective take on Miles Davis' "Nardis", and the tunes "Lawra" and "Confirmation". CD

This set's the 3rd that the trio recorded at the Vanguard – and it's very much in the best spirit of its predecessors – gently soulful, with a strong focus on the individual talents of the players, yet nary a moment of overindulgence. Verve, 1992. Used ... Out Of Stock
A wonderful return to form for drummer Art Taylor – and a set that crackles with the same sense of soul and fire as his legendary 50s work for Blue Note and Prestige! Taylor's working here in an open-ended hardbop mode that makes the most of the live setting of the record – and which has the drummer leading a crack quintet that features alto sax from Abraham Burton, tenor from Willie Williams, piano by Jacky Terrason, and bass by Tyler Mitchell. The overall format of the live performance is kept strongly by the recording – including introductions by Taylor, the band's theme, and a bit of inter-song chat – and the record's a real standout in the Verve catalog of the 90s, one that we'll always remember fondly. Titles include "AT's Shout", "So Sorry Please", "Stressed Out", "Mr AT Revisited", "Chelsea Bridge", and "Harlem Mardi Gras". CD

Sandy BullE Pluribus Unum ... LP
Vanguard, 1968. Very Good+ ... $24.99
Sandy Bull's third album – a pair of long pieces that combine the multicultural folk instrumental experimentation – with Bull playing guitar, bass, bass drum, oud and hand percussion – rolling in a bit more electric blues on one side, and meandering psychedelic impulses on the other! The album features 2 sidelong pieces, "No Deposit, No Return Blues" and "Electric Blend" – the both recognizable as Bull's work if you've heard is previous couple of excellent LPs for Vanguard, but actually manage to work in more conventional grooves and more far out experimentation – splitting the difference in that regard. "No Deposit, No Return Blues" does work in some laidback electric blues guitar and spare percussion backing, but tinged with Sandy's Middle Eastern touches, too. "Electric Blend" works in the evolving sprit of his earlier "Blends", with with inspiration from the later 60s psyche sounds. LP, Vinyl record album

The group features Bobby Hutcherson on vibes, Harold Mabern on piano, and the great Billy Mitchell on tenor. Vanguard/Universe (Italy), 1971. Used ... $24.99
One of the most stripped-down records from the early years of Larry Coryell – but one of the most powerful, too – as the record sometimes has Larry singing along with his guitar, in an effortless blend of trippy rock and jazz! The date's a live one – and the trio features Marvin Bronson on bass and Harry Wilkison on drums – both players who are super-tight, and move through lots of amazing rhythm patterns on the longer tracks on the set – which maybe demonstrate the growing power of the young guitarist more than his studio work of the time. Given the structure of the group, and the very expressive work on electric guitar, the whole thing's almost got a Hendrix-into-jazz sort of vibe – although Larry "sings" mostly with his guitar instead of his voice. Early work from guitar genius Larry Coryell – and a set that's maybe not as basic as you'd guess from the title! Larry's clearly out to state himself right from the very first note – in guitar modes that seem to draw equally from jazz, blues, and rock – and which are produced here with just the right dose of fuzz to showcase the key kind of crossover energy that he'd bring to the first decade or so of his career! The tracks were recorded in the late 60s, but never originally issued at the time – yet the album makes as great a statement of Coryell's power as any of his Vanguard classics – thanks in part to killer work from sidemen who include Bernard Purdie on drums, Mike Mandel on organ, Chuck Rainey on bass, and Ray Mantilla on percussion. Titles include a great version of Larry Young's "Tyrone", plus the tracks "Sex", "Slow Blues", "Call To The Higher Consciousness", "Organ Blues", and "The Jam With Albert". CD

Titles include "Foreplay", "Ruminations", "Scotland 1", "Beggars' Chant", and "Offering". CD

Larry Coryell tries out his vocal chops a bit on this album with his classic group from the early 70s – but the main "voice" on the record is still his wonderfully tight guitar – which has a beautifully sharp sound throughout! When Coryell sings, he almost seems to be doing so through the pickup of a guitar – or a least getting processed via pedals and effects – which gives his singing as much fuzz as his electric instrument – set up in a great combo that features work on tenor and soprano sax from Steve Marcus, and a mixture of piano and Arp from the great Mike Mandel. A great entry in the ever-diverse catalog of guitarist Larry Coryell in the 70s – a set that has him both returning to Vanguard Records, and to more electric modes than on a few previous records – and also working with the sons of Dave Brubeck in a nicely tight mode! The album's maybe a bit more of a conventional jazz outing than Coryell at the start of the decade – given the Darius, Chris, and Dan Brubeck play acoustic piano, bass, and drums, respectively – but Larry's always changing up the rhythms and tones in these really great ways, and getting some nice inspiration from the percussion of Ray Mantilla, who's also in the group. Titles include "Mediterranean Sundance Entre Dos Aguas", "Sweet Shuffle", "Return", "Rue Gregoire Du Tour", and "Three Mile Island". CD

Vanguard, 1967. Very Good ... $19.99
A seminal set from Country Joe & The Fish – one of those albums that brought the new psychedelic sound strongly into the mainstream – but all without softening up or commercializing it at all! There's still a very sharp edge to the record – mean organ lines, fuzzy guitar, and lots of cool production that makes the sounds weirder and more watery than before – even the vocals, which have this edge that nobody would ever refer to as Sunshine Pop! In a way, the whole set's as sinister as any of the most groundbreaking albums on Elektra from the time – and definitely shows that both Vanguard and the group were at the forefront of the new psych recording scene. Great lost John Hammond material for Vanguard Records – tracks recorded from some of his earlier sessions for the label, but issued here as a great batch of material on their own! The strength of these tracks is undeniable – further proof that Hammond was really at home in the freedom that Vanguard allowed in the studio – and on side one, John works with two different groups – one a hip assemblage with Charlie Musselwhite on harmonica, Robbie Robertson on guitar, Mike Bloomfield on piano, and Levon Helm on drums – the other a three-guitar combo with Billy Butler and James Spruill, in addition to Hammond – plus bassist Jimmy Lewis on the electric version of the instrument. Side two is more acoustic – with just Hammond himself on guitar, and singing with an even folksier style in the setting – on titles that include "I Wish You Would", "Stones In My Passageway", "Statesboro Blues", "I Just Got Here", "Death Don't Have No Mercy", "Rock Me Mama", and "Motherless Willie Johnson". The guests here are Bennie Wallace on tenor, Larry Karush on piano, and David Earl Johnson on congas and timbales – and the tracks move from longer to shorter, quintet to duo performances – all showing different aspects of the guitars of Ralph Towner, reeds of Paul McCandless, bass of Glen Moore, and sitar and percussion of Collin Walcott. Karush and Moore duet on piano on the beautiful "Love Over Time", Wallace and Walcott mix sitar and tenor on "First Thing In The Morning" – and other titles include "Time Remembered", "Interstate", "Timeless", "Love Over Time", and "Grazing Dreams". The fantastic first outing of Oregon as a quartet – recorded right after the group's initial work with the Paul Winter Consort – but not released until a decade after the material was first put down to tape! Oregon had already reached greater fame by the time of the record's issue in 1980 – but you can easily hear the fullness of their vision here, right at the start – the unusual blend of world elements and jazz – served up in a pre-ECM universe by Ralph Towner on guitars, piano, and mellophone; Paul McCandless on oboe and English Horn; Glen Moore on bass and flute; and Collin Walcott on tablas, sitar, 12 string guitar, percussion, and esraj. The songs are maybe a bit more spacious and shorter than later years, but the group's sound is very firmly in place – on titles that include "Jade Vision", "Margueritte", "Canyon Song", "Full Circle", "Collin's Delite", and "Aheer". The title's a reference to the special presence of Polish violinist Zbigniew Siefert, who joins Oregon for the set – and it's also the name of the side-long track on the first half of the record – a surprisingly beautiful long improvisation by the entire group! Given the way that Oregon can take other instruments and provide them in a very different setting, they also do the same thing here with Siefert – who has elements that are sometimes different than his own records, especially the more fusion-based ones – flowering wonderfully in the acoustic setting provided by Paul McCandless on oboe and bass clarinet, Glen Moore on bass, Ralph Towner on guitars and piano, and Collin Walcott on tablas and percussion. In addition to the long track "Violin", other titles include "Raven's Mood", "Serenade", "Flagolet", and "Friend Of The Family". CD

A pair of gems from The Players Association – back to back on a single CD! First up is the fantastic first album from The Players Association – a group who may well have gotten their name for the great jazzy musicians in their lineup! Players Association are best known for their disco grooves, but they've got a core sense of instrumentation that's really a cut above – with strong leadership from jazzman Chris Hills – who plays drums, guitar, and keyboards – and other players who include Joe Farrell on tenor and flute, Bob Mover on alto and soprano, Jon Faddis on trumpet, and Mike Mandell on keyboards! Ray Mantilla and Buddy Williams add in some great percussion to the mix – which furthers the spontaneous, jazzy vibe of some of the tunes – and titles includes the funky cut "I Like It", which has a nice break in the beginning, plus the tracks "Let's Groove", "Hustlin", "Moon In Pisces", and a sweet cover of "For The Love Of You". Turn The Music Up is wonderful work from The Players Association – a group who were equal parts jazz funk and equal parts 70s club – with a vibe that's maybe like The Blackbyrds or other Fantasy Records acts at their best! The mighty Chris Hills is at the helm – and the record is overflowing with top-shelf talent from the jazz side of the spectrum – work by Bob Berg on tenor, Tom Harrell on trumpet, and Bob Mover on alto – all with room to solo, and really helping bring a musical maturity to the record that other disco records never seem to have! Titles include "Everybody Dance", "Ride The Groove", "The Closer I Get To You", and "I Wish". CD

The Siegel Schwall Band are still kicking it hard here – playing with a surprisingly gritty vibe, maybe thanks in part to production from the great Sam Charters – who'd handled so many great blues sessions over the years! But we're guessing that at this point, the group didn't even need Sam's help to sound this tight – as they're really finding their voice, and work with mostly original material of their own – yet in a way that strongly echo the Chicago blues legends who inspired their sound. The set leads off with a version of the Willie Dixon tune "Shake For Me" – then moves into originals that include "My Starter Won't Start", "Think", "334 3599", "Get Away Man", "Wouldn't Quit You", and "You Can't Run That Fast". The Siegel Schwall Band change things up a bit here – leaving behind the rootsy Sam Charters production of their first few albums for the the heady sound of Dunwich – and picking up just a bit of electric piano and electric bass in the process! The style is still rooted in blues, but maybe not as slavishly tied to the modes of Chess Records as before – as the group, especially Corky Siegel, seem to be coming up with lyrical modes that are maybe a bit more of a nod to the north side crowds that were really cheering them on in Chicago – not mainstream, certainly, but maybe a bit more longhaired than south side juke joint crowds – almost a bit of a Bay Area vibe in the mix. A great first album from this unusual Florida trio – a hip little group whose members would later end up working with The Allman Brothers, Boz Scaggs, and Cowboy – but who sound plenty darn great here on their own! The style's a lot headier than you might expect – almost with some of the deeper echoes you'd expect from the LA scene of the late 60s – the post-folk explorations of the headier side of rock, done with slight psych undercurrents, and a warm vocal style that's introspective, yet never overindulgent – a really great balance that should have made these guys as big as Buffalo Springfield or Crosby Stills & Nash at the time. A few moments get somewhat heavy, but never too much so – and the album's filled with great original numbers that include "Sandcastles", "Porcelain Mirrors", "Pedestals", "A Different Kind Of Head", "Free", "Pick A Gripe", and "Cries Of Treason". A great early album from Junior Wells – and one that really opens up that more soulful side of his talents that was becoming a Chicago hallmark at the time! The set was produced by Samuel Charters, but has none of the rootsy vibe of his earlier work on Folkways – and instead matches the harmonica and raw vocals of Wells with a bit of horn backings on a few tunes by the great Ed Bland (of previous Sun Ra cinema fame, and later funk arrangements) – blown by the unlikely mix of Tom McIntosh on trombone, with trumpets by Clark Terry, Wallace Davenport, and Jimmy Owens! The core group has the mighty Buddy Guy on guitar, with Walter Williams on rhythm guitar and Douglas Fagan on tenor – and Junior knocks it out of the park, on tunes that include "So Sad This Morning", "When My Baby Left Me", "Stop Breakin Down", "Somebody's Tippin In", "You Don't Love Me", "Little By Little", and "I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man". Beautiful work from Hedy West – a folk singer with a voice that cuts through to the quick – none of the sweetness of some of the poppier acts of the 60s, and none of the softness that you might get from commercial efforts – and instead a sound that's straight from the hills, and a bit like some of the best Elektra recordings by Jean Ritchie! West plays banjo along with her vocals, but uses the instrument in a way that's almost more like acoustic guitar – very complicated note patterns, and less of the rhythmic strumming that you'd get in a hokier effort – with qualities that are often very dark and brooding. CD features Hedy's first two albums for Vanguard – Hedy West, with tracks that include "Single Girl", "Shady Grove", "Drowsy Sleeper", "Fare Thee Well", "Fragments", and "Sweet Jane" – and Hedy West Volume 2, with tracks that include "Pans Of Biscuits", "Lady Beauty Bright", "Boston Burglar", "Farther Along", "Hubbard", "Run Slave Run", and "Poor Little Lost Baby". One of THE spoken word classics of the 70s funk years – an amazing album based around the poetry of Camille Yarbrough – set to some amazing funky backings! The sound here is incredibly righteous – almost a more sophisticated version of Betty Davis – done with a stark, spare groove that makes the bass bits and drums really come out in the mix! Camille's got a heck of a lot of personal vision, and really works the album together as a whole – making for a set that's far more than just "poetry plus music" – and instead an audio tapestry with an incredibly deep sound! Includes a heavy rap on the streets that culminates in the great "Little Sally the Super Sex Star" – plus the classic "Take Yo Praise", which was sampled famously by Fatboy Slim – and the cuts "Can I Get A Witness" and "All Hid". Vanguard, 1971. Very Good ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Coryell plays a lot of acoustic guitar here, in addition to some electric – and the group also features additional guitar from Ralph Towner – whose open, airy approach really shapes the sound in a different way – but, alongside Larry, also has more force than on his own ECM recordings. Vanguard/Wounded Bird, 1967. New Copy ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Early work from Chicago's Siegel Schwall Band – one of the better blue-eyed blues groups to ever come out of the Windy City! Like their contemporaries, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, these guys started with a real love of the music, and worked very close to the source – earning their dues in small clubs on the south side, and continuing to avoid some of the more polished, or more jamming modes that were beginning to birth in the blues rock scene in the years before classic rock emerged. Instead, the quartet keep things very close to their Chess, Cobra, and Vee Jay inspirations – with work from Corky Siegel on harmonica, piano, and vocals, plus more vocals from Jim Schwall, whose guitar work really gets a chance to stretch out here on some of the longer tracks. Titles include "ISPI Blues", "I'm A King Bee", "Slow Blues In A", "I Liked It Where We Walked", and "Bring It With You When You Come" – plus the 11 minute "That's Why I Treat My Baby So Fine". CD features bonus tracks – "Easy Rider", "I Like The Way You Rock", "Don't Want No Woman", and "Sneaky Pete (take two)". CD
