Jon BatisteAnatomy Of Angels – Live At The Village Vanguard ... LP
Verve, 2019. New Copy ... Just Sold Out!
A very different side of pianist Jon Batiste than you'll hear on television – and a record that's a great reminder of just how great a jazz musician he can be when he wants to! The set was recorded live at the Vanguard – and the songs are beautiful long-spun numbers that not only provide a perfect showcase for Jon's skills on the piano, filled with lots of soulful inflections that are really wonderful – but also display the larger Batiste vision with a group – a slightly larger ensemble here with arrangments by Jon that fill things in nicely alongside his strong voice on the keys. Rachael Price delivers a vocal performance on "The Very Thought Of You" – and other tunes include "Creative", "Dusk Train To Doha", "Round Midnight", and "Anatomy Of Angels". LP, Vinyl record album

Jon BatisteChronology Of A Dream – Live At The Village Vanguard ... CD
Verve, 2019. New Copy ... $13.99 14.99
Jon Batiste is fantastic here – way more so than we normally give him credit for, and maybe even sharper in a live setting than in the studio! The group works with a mix of jazz, funk, and soul – but very different than Jon's band on TV, as there's deeper, richer elements going on – both in the general colors of the instruments, and in the way that the solos soar out and really give the songs some emotion. The lineup features tenor, alto, trumpet, and lots of nice bottom currents on the rhythms – sometimes funky, sometimes more lyrical – all topped with great piano lines from Batiste, who also sings a bit too. Much of the phrasing and flavor is more modern than some of his other albums – and titles include "Blacck", "Prince", "Pwwr", "Birthe", "Kenner", "Story", "Ordr", and "Higher". CD

Bill EvansSunday At The Village Vanguard ... CD
Riverside/OJC, 1961. Used ... $5.99
One of Bill Evans' landmark sessions with the young bassist Scott LaFaro – a player who made key contributions on every record he touched, then left this earth far too soon in his career! The live session's a perfect demonstration of the way that the Evans trio format not only re-worked the use of the piano in jazz, but also the bass and drums as well – as LaFaro's deeply evocative playing is paired with the equally fresh drum work of Paul Motian – heard here at his youthful early best, before some of his contributions to jazz had become cliche in the hands of other players. The session was caught live at the Village Vanguard on the night of June 25, 1961 – and titles include longish takes on "Solar", "Jade Visions", "Gloria's Step", and "Alice In Wonderland". CD

Nonesuch, 1980. Used 6 CDs ... $79.99
Brilliant late work from Bill Evans – his last set of recordings from the Village Vanguard – recorded in the summer of 1980, nearly two decades after his first famous albums at the club! Evans here is a wealth of imagination – really stretching out in relaxed, fluid formation – gentler than before, but also with a deeper sense of feeling too – and getting some great support from trio members Marc Johnson on bass and Joe Labarbera on drums. Tracks mostly hover around the five minute range – but there's some key longer numbers too – and the whole thing's a perfect example of why live Bill Evans is often some of the best Bill Evans you can find! 58 tracks on 6CDs, packaged with a booklet – and titles include "Nardis", "Knight For Mary F", "Emily", "Minha", "My Romance/Five", "But Not For Me", "Bill's Hit Tune", "I Do It For Your Love", "Quiet Now", "Days Of Wine & Roses", "Your Story", "Tiffany", and "Re Person I Knew". A real moment of genius for Joe Henderson from the 80s – a spare trio session, recorded live at the Village Vanguard, in a mode that recalls Sonny Rollins classic sets there for Blue Note! And while Sonny often performed heavily in a trio setting, unfettered by chords in the rhythm section – this is a unique date for Joe, and he sounds brilliant throughout! Ron Carter and Al Foster provide a crisp but elastic foundation for Henderson's burnished melodies and solos in a very spacious setting – and this second volume features the tracks "Boo Boo's Birthday", "Cheryl", "Y Ya La Quiero", "Soulville", and "The Bead Game". A subtle gem from Bobby Hutcherson's wonderful years on Landmark Records – a point when he was really getting back to basics, and cutting some great straight work that almost hearkened back to his 60s gems on Blue Note! The set's recorded live at the Village Vanguard – and Bobby swings soulfully in a great quartet with Kenny Barron on piano, Buster Williams on bass, and Al Foster on drums. Hutcherson's playing both vibes and marimba – and the scope of his playing here has both grown from earlier years, awash with tones, colors, and light – which Barron and Williams are only happy to fill in more deeply. Resonance, 1966. New Copy 3LP Gatefold (reissue)... $69.99
The birth of a legend – documented here in a really wonderful package – a brilliant 2CD set that brings forth the first-ever recordings of the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra – heard here on the debut nights of their very long run of Monday night performances at the Village Vanguard! Right from the start, this group was really something special – formed by the meeting of two legendary talents, trumpeter Thad Jones and drummer Mel Lewis – and driven strongly by a lineup of all-star players who were happy to shelve their egos this night of the week, and come together in a unit that was far more than just the sum of its amazing parts. Players on these two nights include Hank Jones on piano, Richard Davis on bass, Jimmy Owens and Bill Berry on trumpets, Bob Brookmeyer and Garnett Brown on trombones, and Jerome Richardson, Joe Farrell, Pepper Adams, and Jerry Dodgion on a flurry of amazing reed performances – producing the kinds of insane colors and edges the group was always known for! This isn't big band jazz – at least not the sort you'd think of with cliche – and instead, the recordings document the meeting of amazing talents creating effortlessly together under the leadership of two generous giants. The package is wonderful, really a tribute to this amazing music – oversized, and with a huge booklet of notes and photos – and 2CDs with titles that include "Back Bone", "Big Dipper", "Mornin Reverend", "Little Pixie", "All My Yesterdays", "Once Around", "Ah That's Freedom", and "Don't Ever Leave Me". The speed of the set is by no means a detriment to Mance's soulful playing – and if anything, the record stands as one of his most compelling from the period – not just a batch of soul jazz styles that were soon becoming cliches, but a vibrant example of the full range of Mance's talents, caught in a very spontaneous setting. Trio members include Larry Gales on bass and Ben Riley on drums – and titles include "Smokey Blues", "Bingo Domingo", "Looptown", "Letter From Home", and "Girl Of My Dreams". LP, Vinyl record album

Sonny RollinsNight At The Village Vanguard ... LP
Blue Note, 1957. Very Good ... Just Sold Out!
One of the greatest Sonny Rollins records ever! The set is a legendary batch of trio tracks that feature Sonny working in a format that is incredibly free for the time, and which show him as more of a modernist than a bopper – although his solos are still pretty darn fantastic from a bop perspective – stretching out in free, piano-less space – really cutting some amazing edges, and blown in tones we might never have expected from Rollins a few years before. The group is beautifully open ended – with Wilbur Ware on bass and Elvin Jones on drums, and both of them in their best mode of the late 50s. Titles include "Softly As In A Morning Sunset", "Sonny Moon For Two", and "Striver's Row". Great stuff, and one of the best sides that Blue Note ever cut! LP, Vinyl record album

Woody ShawStepping Stones – Live At The Village Vanguard (expanded edition) ... CD
Columbia/Legacy, 1978. Used ... $11.99
Soulful brilliance from Woody Shaw – a searing live set that matches the power of earlier classics like Moontrane and Blackstone Legacy! The album's got Woody working with a heck of a great group – Carter Jefferson on tenor and soprano sax, Onaje Allan Gumbs on piano, Clint Houston on bass, and Victor Lewis on drums – all of whom come together with just the right mix of earthy grooving and spiritual searching that puts Woody in his best light. Jefferson is especially great – as it's his soaring work on reeds that really give the album a sense of spirit – but credit should also be giving to the well-knit rhythm team, whose ability to push out in flowing lines of power really raises the energy of the performance. Titles include "Stepping Stone", "In A Capricornian Way", "Seventh Avenue", and "Theme For Maxine". CD features 3 bonus tracks, 2 unissued – "Blues For Ball", "All Things Being Equal Are Not", and "Escape Velocity". CD

East Wind/Inner City, 1977. Very Good ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A wonderful live set from the legendary Great Jazz Trio of Ron Carter, Tony Williams, and Hank Jones – one of the group's key Japanese albums of the 70s! As the title implies, the set was recorded live at the Village Vanguard – in a setting that has the trio stretching out even more than on their already-spacious studio sides of the time. Williams is especially nice on the record – light and free on the kit, and miles away from some of his fusion work of the 70s. Jones' tones are warm and soulful, and Carter's bass work is always a treat in a setting like this. The album features a great take on "Naima", plus the tracks "Moose The Mooche", "Favors", and "12+12" – all done in nice long versions. LP, Vinyl record album

Vanguard, 1966. Sealed ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A huge leap forward for the mighty Bert Jansch – and a record that's somehow even more amazing than the ones that came before! Bert's maybe even more introspective here, but also on a personal journey that takes him down musical paths that seem broader than before – almost echoing a wider range of influences on his guitar performance, yet in a way that still comes across with a uniquely pointed vibe. There's some occasional shift in the instrumentation, too – as Jansch plays banjo on the leadoff track, but with the same chilling currents as his sublime acoustic guitar – and John Renbourn joins on second guitar for a number of tracks, prefacing the pair's collaboration to come. And as with all of Jansch's genius material at this point, there's a quality that's both ancient and modern, timeless and uniquely tied to its moment – flowering beautifully on tunes that include "Jack Orion", "The Waggoner's Lad", "Nottamun Town", "Black Water Side", "Pretty Polly", and "The Gardner". One of the first albums in a long line of successes from the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra – recorded live in their home turf at the Village Vanguard! The group at this point was a freshly-created outfit filled with some of the best large group jazz soloists of the time – players that included Jerome Richardson, Joe Farrell, Eddie Daniels, Pepper Adams, Richard Williams, and Bob Brookmeyer – not to mention Jones and Lewis themselves! The style here is very much in the mode that the Clarke Boland Band was crafting in Europe during the same period – a redefinition of the larger jazz group, in a way that allowed it to swing with the dynamic energy and soul of some of the smaller combos of the 60s. And while the Jones/Lewis group had many years over which to hone their craft, they've never sounded better than on these initial recordings – as you'll hear on tracks that include "Samba Con Getchu", "A That's Freedom", "Bachafillen", and "Little Pixie". CD features 3 bonus tracks too – "Lover Man", "The Second Race", and "Quietude". CD

Verve, 1992. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A wonderful return to form for drummer Art Taylor – and a set that crackles with the same sense of soul and fire as his legendary 50s work for Blue Note and Prestige! Taylor's working here in an open-ended hardbop mode that makes the most of the live setting of the record – and which has the drummer leading a crack quintet that features alto sax from Abraham Burton, tenor from Willie Williams, piano by Jacky Terrason, and bass by Tyler Mitchell. The overall format of the live performance is kept strongly by the recording – including introductions by Taylor, the band's theme, and a bit of inter-song chat – and the record's a real standout in the Verve catalog of the 90s, one that we'll always remember fondly. Sublimely spiritual work from the great John Coltrane – a live album, but one that's easily one of his most important contributions to music in the early 60s – and a set that we'd rank right up there with his best studio sides for Impulse or Atlantic Records at the time! The group here features McCoy Tyner on piano, Reggie Workman on bass, and Elvin Jones on drums – plus the very important addition of Eric Dolphy on the leadoff tune "Spiritual" – a number that features Dolphy on bass clarinet alongside Coltrane's tremendous tenor, as both players open up on extended solos that take the tune to nearly 14 minutes in length! Other numbers omit Dolphy, but are still totally great – and Coltrane picks up the soprano sax for a classic reading of "Softly As In A Morning Sunrise" – and the group shifts slightly for the freer "Chasin The Trane", a 16 minute romp done with only tenor sax, drums, and bass – the latter of which is handled here by Jimmy Garrison instead of Workman. The group have an edge here that's sharper than you might expect – maybe in part because the set was issued on the Vanguard label, who really hang on to some sort of folk blues roots, and don't try to polish these guys up too much. ✨✧ VariousFor Discos Only – Indie Dance Music From Fantasy & Vanguard Records – 1976 to 1981 (3CD set) ... CD
Fantasy/Craft, Late 70s/Early 80s. New Copy 3CD ... Out Of Stock
Rare singles from the glory days of the American club music scene – most of which were only issued as promo release – hence the "for discos only" in the title! The package looks at the wealth of material issued by the Fantasy and Vanguard family of labels in the late 70s – imprints that have never fully gotten their due, in comparison to companies like Salsoul or Philadelphia International – even though they made an equally huge contribution to the world of funky grooves! In fact, given that Fantasy owned Prestige and other jazz labels at the time, they also had a longer heritage in soulful music – which often made some of their singles these real mini-masterpieces in sound. Vanguard was equally unusual, but in a different way – as disco and club were relatively new to their catalog – which almost seemed to give them a freedom to be a bit more experimental than some of the bigger companies working the dancefloors. The result is a great collection of really creative, really upbeat material – almost all of which is nice and extended, and presented here on the rare 12" single versions. Titles include "Til You Surrender (special rmx)" by Rainbow Brown, "Rock Creek Park (rmx)" by The Blackbyrds, "No One Can Do It Like You (12" special Shep Pettibone rmx)", "Chill Out (12" version)" by Free Expression, "I Don't Know What's On Your Mind (special 12" mix)" by Spiders Webb, "Over & Over (special 12" disco)" by Sylvester, "Turn The Music Up (12" disco)" by Players Association, "Beat Of The Night (special 12" disco)" by Fever, "Party Vibes (special 12" disco)" by Ike Turner & Home Grown Funk, "You've Got Me Dancing In My Sleep (special remaster)" by Frisky, "Boogie City (special 12" disco mix)" by Phil Hurtt, "Space Bass (special 12" disco)" by Slick, "Mondo Man (12" version)" by Roni Griffith, "It's Music (special 12" disco)" by Damon Harris, "Always There (special 12" disco)" by Side Effect, "For Your Love (special 12" disco)" by Idris Muhammad, "Straight To The Bank (special 12" disco)" by Bill Summers, "Boogie With Me (12" disco)" by Poussez, "Don't Know What To Say" by The Blackbyrds, "I'm The One" by Rainbow Brown, "I Got The Feeling (Patrick Cowley megamix)" by Two Tons O Fun, "Dance (special 12" disco)" by Paradise Express, and "Savage Lover (12" disco long vocal)" by The Ring. Vanguard, 1960. Near Mint- ... $7.99
One of the most essential debut albums of the 60s folk revival, and the early 60s in general – the great first album from Joan Baez on the Vanguard label – a masterpiece of emotional interpretation and impeccable folk guitar playing! Joan Baez is arguably more legendary as a figure than she his as a musician, in that she was a leader in a movement, but the singer and musician is what makes the biggest impact on us, and here she is at her finest. She's accompanied by second guitarist Fred Hellerman on about half the songs, which include "Silver Dagger", "East Virginia", "House Of The Rising Sun", "All My Trails", "Wildwood Flower", "John Riley", "Little Moses", "Ek Preso Numero Nueve" and more. Sandy BullInventions ... LP
Vanguard, 1964. Near Mint- ... Just Sold Out!
A pretty darn incredible album – featuring Sandy alone playing guitar, banjo, oud, Fender bass, and electric guitar – plus some slight percussion accompaniment from Billy Higgins. Like his previous LP, Inventions is an awe inspiring blend of folk, jazz & rustic sounds with a global reach – but he goes deeper this time out. "Blend II" is the epic opener that's lets you know you're into something special, blending disparate styles, from classical to folk to Middle Eastern droning strings, without ever getting to be too much, it's truly a wonderful blend. Tracks are long an introspective – meditative instrumentals that mix Bull's folksy roots with some more eastern-oriented perspectives. From Bach to Berry in scope, it's got a dexterous diversity, and may be his best work. Other titles include "Triple Ballade", "Gavotte No 2", "Triple Ballade", "Memphis, Tennessee" and "Manha De Carnival". LP, Vinyl record album

Larry CoryellAt The Village Gate ... LP
Vanguard, 1971. Very Good+ ... $11.99
One of the most stripped-down records from the early years of Larry Coryell – but one of the most powerful, too – as the record sometimes has Larry singing along with his guitar, in an effortless blend of trippy rock and jazz! The date's a live one – and the trio features Marvin Bronson on bass and Harry Wilkison on drums – both players who are super-tight, and move through lots of amazing rhythm patterns on the longer tracks on the set – which maybe demonstrate the growing power of the young guitarist more than his studio work of the time. Given the structure of the group, and the very expressive work on electric guitar, the whole thing's almost got a Hendrix-into-jazz sort of vibe – although Larry "sings" mostly with his guitar instead of his voice. Titles include "The Opening", "Can You Follow", "Beyond These Chilling Winds", "Entaredecendo En Saudade", and "After Later". LP, Vinyl record album

Early work from guitar genius Larry Coryell – and a set that's maybe not as basic as you'd guess from the title! Larry's clearly out to state himself right from the very first note – in guitar modes that seem to draw equally from jazz, blues, and rock – and which are produced here with just the right dose of fuzz to showcase the key kind of crossover energy that he'd bring to the first decade or so of his career! The tracks were recorded in the late 60s, but never originally issued at the time – yet the album makes as great a statement of Coryell's power as any of his Vanguard classics – thanks in part to killer work from sidemen who include Bernard Purdie on drums, Mike Mandel on organ, Chuck Rainey on bass, and Ray Mantilla on percussion. Titles include a great version of Larry Young's "Tyrone", plus the tracks "Sex", "Slow Blues", "Call To The Higher Consciousness", "Organ Blues", and "The Jam With Albert". CD

Vanguard/Universe (Italy), 1969. Used Gatefold ... $24.99
Maybe the funkiest album that guitarist Larry Coryell ever cut – his debut as a leader, and a fuzzy, freaky set that features some massively heavy drums from the great Bernard Purdie! The set's jazz at the core, but has lots of rock elements too – including vocals from Coryell on a few cuts, whose rough-edged style of singing works nicely with the fuzz on his guitar. The whole thing's a really freewheeling trip down that genre-busting road that had opened up in the underground of the late 60s – a path taken away from folk, jazz, rock, and other more mainstream roads – served up with help from Mike Mandel on keyboards, Jim Pepper on flute, and bassists Chuck Rainey, Ron Carter, and Albert Stinson. Titles include the long funky groove called "The Jam with Albert", plus the tracks "Sex", "Beautiful Woman", "Morning Sickness", and "Ah Wuv Ooh". (Nice "naked kids" cover, too – the kind that must have made someone's therapist a lot of money!) CD

A fantastic record from guitarist Larry Coryell – one that maybe has him shedding some of the more rockish tendencies of his roots, while finding the way forward in a searing, searching style of funky jazz! There's almost a Flying Dutchman sort of righteousness to the record – as Larry mixes the ever-increasing sharpness of his guitar with great soprano sax from Steve Marcus – who himself may well be topping performances on albums under his own name. Bottom energy is driven strongly by Mervin Bronson on bass and Harry Wilkinson on drums – and the group also features lots of great keyboards from Mike Mandel – playing "electric piano with fuzz wah"! Titles include "Foreplay", "Ruminations", "Scotland 1", "Beggars' Chant", and "Offering". CD

Larry Coryell tries out his vocal chops a bit on this album with his classic group from the early 70s – but the main "voice" on the record is still his wonderfully tight guitar – which has a beautifully sharp sound throughout! When Coryell sings, he almost seems to be doing so through the pickup of a guitar – or a least getting processed via pedals and effects – which gives his singing as much fuzz as his electric instrument – set up in a great combo that features work on tenor and soprano sax from Steve Marcus, and a mixture of piano and Arp from the great Mike Mandel. Guitarist Larry Coryell really changes it up from before – shedding both some of his electric modes and his vocal inclinations – and also working with a completely different group, who give the record a very unusual sound! Coryell plays a lot of acoustic guitar here, in addition to some electric – and the group also features additional guitar from Ralph Towner – whose open, airy approach really shapes the sound in a different way – but, alongside Larry, also has more force than on his own ECM recordings. The group also features Glen Moore on acoustic bass – but the real highlight may well be Collin Wolcott, who plays tablas and congas – bringing in earthy, global elements that really make some of the best moments shine. Titles include "Julie La Belle", "Song For Jim Webb", "Pavane For A Dead Princess", "Ann Arbor", and some improvisations on music by Robert De Visee. CD

A great entry in the ever-diverse catalog of guitarist Larry Coryell in the 70s – a set that has him both returning to Vanguard Records, and to more electric modes than on a few previous records – and also working with the sons of Dave Brubeck in a nicely tight mode! The album's maybe a bit more of a conventional jazz outing than Coryell at the start of the decade – given the Darius, Chris, and Dan Brubeck play acoustic piano, bass, and drums, respectively – but Larry's always changing up the rhythms and tones in these really great ways, and getting some nice inspiration from the percussion of Ray Mantilla, who's also in the group. A seminal set from Country Joe & The Fish – one of those albums that brought the new psychedelic sound strongly into the mainstream – but all without softening up or commercializing it at all! There's still a very sharp edge to the record – mean organ lines, fuzzy guitar, and lots of cool production that makes the sounds weirder and more watery than before – even the vocals, which have this edge that nobody would ever refer to as Sunshine Pop! In a way, the whole set's as sinister as any of the most groundbreaking albums on Elektra from the time – and definitely shows that both Vanguard and the group were at the forefront of the new psych recording scene. The Johnstons got their start as a more traditional Irish folk group, but like most of their British Isles contemporaries at the end of the 60s, they were able to find a way to bridge the ancient and the current – by this point mixing traditional material with some very well-chosen contemporary cuts, all of which really flower even more wonderfully in the beautiful male/female vocal style of the group – who can hit a warm blend that's almost like the west coast post-folk modes of the Sunshine Pop generation, but much more cerebral. Production is nicely stripped-down at most points – with a focus on acoustic instrumentation, but also some slight elements on the second two albums that almost remind us of the hipness of Warner/Reprise productions for this sort of material. Early work from Chicago's Siegel Schwall Band – one of the better blue-eyed blues groups to ever come out of the Windy City! Like their contemporaries, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, these guys started with a real love of the music, and worked very close to the source – earning their dues in small clubs on the south side, and continuing to avoid some of the more polished, or more jamming modes that were beginning to birth in the blues rock scene in the years before classic rock emerged. Instead, the quartet keep things very close to their Chess, Cobra, and Vee Jay inspirations – with work from Corky Siegel on harmonica, piano, and vocals, plus more vocals from Jim Schwall, whose guitar work really gets a chance to stretch out here on some of the longer tracks. Titles include "ISPI Blues", "I'm A King Bee", "Slow Blues In A", "I Liked It Where We Walked", and "Bring It With You When You Come" – plus the 11 minute "That's Why I Treat My Baby So Fine". The style is still rooted in blues, but maybe not as slavishly tied to the modes of Chess Records as before – as the group, especially Corky Siegel, seem to be coming up with lyrical modes that are maybe a bit more of a nod to the north side crowds that were really cheering them on in Chicago – not mainstream, certainly, but maybe a bit more longhaired than south side juke joint crowds – almost a bit of a Bay Area vibe in the mix. The style's a lot headier than you might expect – almost with some of the deeper echoes you'd expect from the LA scene of the late 60s – the post-folk explorations of the headier side of rock, done with slight psych undercurrents, and a warm vocal style that's introspective, yet never overindulgent – a really great balance that should have made these guys as big as Buffalo Springfield or Crosby Stills & Nash at the time. A few moments get somewhat heavy, but never too much so – and the album's filled with great original numbers that include "Sandcastles", "Porcelain Mirrors", "Pedestals", "A Different Kind Of Head", "Free", "Pick A Gripe", and "Cries Of Treason". Camille YarbroughIron Pot Cooker ... CD
Vanguard/Ace (UK), 1975. New Copy ... $9.99 14.98
One of THE spoken word classics of the 70s funk years – an amazing album based around the poetry of Camille Yarbrough – set to some amazing funky backings! The sound here is incredibly righteous – almost a more sophisticated version of Betty Davis – done with a stark, spare groove that makes the bass bits and drums really come out in the mix! Camille's got a heck of a lot of personal vision, and really works the album together as a whole – making for a set that's far more than just "poetry plus music" – and instead an audio tapestry with an incredibly deep sound! Includes a heavy rap on the streets that culminates in the great "Little Sally the Super Sex Star" – plus the classic "Take Yo Praise", which was sampled famously by Fatboy Slim – and the cuts "Can I Get A Witness" and "All Hid". ✨✧ Hamza El DinMusic Of Nubia ... LP
Vanguard, Mid 60s. Very Good ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Haunting work from Hamza El Din – a spare album that mostly features work on the oud, that mystical instrument that has a short plucked stringy kind of sound. There's also vocals on a few tracks, and one number features guest bass work by Ahmed Abdul Malik, and another features bongos by Sandy Bull. Titles include "Fegir Nedan", "Kuto Fa Pattaroni", "Nubala", and "Nabra". LP, Vinyl record album
(Vinyl has a short click in one spot, but is nice and clean overall.)
