✨✧ VariousGreasy Mike's Halloween Monsters – 18 Slices Of Rott N Roll Records From Weirdsville, USA ... LP
Jazzman (UK), Late 50s/Early 60s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Really cool cuts from that magical moment when monster movies, rock and roll, and the 45rpm single all collided together – creating a short-lived but fantastically rich underground of really weird and wonderful records! The music here is a great mix of instrumentals, vocal numbers, and plenty of tracks that use odd effects to create all these sonic touches that make the records even better than just the sum of their parts – like mini-movies or musical cartoons, all with elements that hearken back to the glory days of horror movies! Titles include "Lock Your Door" by Ken Meyer, "Night Walk" by Dick D'Agostin, "The Prowler" by The Idols, "Shock Hop" by Johnny Cale, "Vampire" by The Cyrstals, "The Nightmare" by The Nightmares, "Zombie Walks" by Rebel Rousers, "Rigor Mortis" by Gravestone Four, "Night Sweats" by The Sadists, "The Chiller" by Googie Rene, "Egor's Chant" by Ziggy Gee & His Combo, "The Morgus Creep" by Morgus With The Daringers, and "Haunted Sax" by The Nite Caps. LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Sun RaAngels & Demons At Play/Nubians Of Plutonia ... CD
Saturn/Evidence, Late 50s. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Brilliant early work by Sun Ra and the Arkestra – 2 rare Saturn recordings back to back on one CD! Angels & Demons At Play is a monster of an album! Ra plays organ and electric piano, and the band includes Gilmore, Pat Patrick, Marshall Allen, Ronnie Boykins, Art Hoyle, Phil Cohran, and Julian Priester. The group's also got an electric bass, which gives the tracks a nice bottom, and a good spooky feel. Nothing's too out, but the record's got a great off-kilter sound, and lots of original tracks like "Between Two Worlds", "Tiny Pyramids", "Music From the World Tomorrow", and "Angels And Demons At Play". Nubians Of Plutonia has Ra and the Arkestra playing in a mix of straight jazz and spacey styles, with Ra on electric piano throughout the entire set. A few tracks have some great chanted vocals – and we're not sure if they're sung by one of the Saturn doo wop groups, or by the ensemble – but they give the tracks a great sound, and the whole set has a good late 50's Arkestra sound. With the tracks "Nubia", "Plutonian Nights", "Star Time", and "Watusa". CD

✨✧ Centre El MuusaMoonlight Horses/Catching Stars ... 7-inch
Funk Night, 2023. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A slow-building monster – nice bass that rumbles around in a cool wavy pattern, topped with this gently cascading electric piano line that builds in a really cool way, and tangled with these echoey guitar lines – as the whole thing builds and rises, ebbs then flows! "Catching Stars" has a similar slow funk vibe, but more break in the drums this time around – peppered by great Fender Rhodes – and production on both tracks has almost a Johnny Harris sort of vibe! 7-inch, Vinyl record
