✨✧ VariousBe Arisionable ... CD
Arision (UK), 2003. Used ... Out Of Stock
A brilliant overview of work from one of the most important London labels in recent years – Big Bang's Arision label, home to some incredible work that pushes the boundaries of modern groove! Arision's sound is firmly in the style inspired by the post-4 Hero generation – but there's also a much deeper quality here than in most of its British counterparts – strongly influenced by jazz of the past 30 years, and put together with a care that takes most of these tunes far past the simple world of beats and keys. The set features a few previously unissued tracks exclusive to the set, plus some other hard to find tunes from expensive singles – and the whole thing's got a really unified feel that makes the compilation a delight throughout! Titles include "Search For The Sun" by Xantone Blacq, "Belong" by Dharma One with Tuomo, "Percussive One (Vipersquad 2003 re-edit)" by Cuica, "Little Egypt (Cuica rmx)" by Bakazou, "The Cat (Nature's Plan re-work)" by Consequences, "I Am With You" by Hajimi Yoshizawa, "Won't Let It Go" by Domu with Alexander, and "Flightime" by Hopper. ✨✧ VariousWax Poetics Japan Compiled Series – Spinel ... CD
P-Vine (Japan), 2012. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A really great package of contemporary funky cuts – put together in collaboration between the folks at Wax Poetics Japan and P-Vine Records – and filled with an international assortment of artists that all lean very heavily on the best spirit of 70s funk and soul! We love the albums by almost all of the artists in the set – but somehow, these individual cuts sound even better in the company of each other – running through a long set list of 17 tracks in all, with a very funky spirit throughout! Titles include "Chase The Dream" by Funkshone, "Don't Take It Too Hard" by Tuomo, "I Believe In Miracles" by Eddie Roberts & The Fire Eaters, "Where I'm At" by Push with Candi Staton, "Self Reliance" by The Liberators, "The Bouncer" by New Cool Collective, "Yellow Soul Force" by Mountain Mocha Kilimanjaro, "Pick Up The Pieces (parts 1 & 2)" by Osaka Monaurail, "Above The Law" by Federation Of The Disco Pimps, and "This Time" by Baby Charles. ✨✧ Kero OneEarly Believers ... LP
Plug Research/P-Vine (Japan), 2009. New Copy 2LP (reissue)... Out Of Stock
A classic from the Bay Area scene – damn soulful hip hop from Kero One, an artist who's equally great in the studio as a producer! There's nothing forced or overdone here – and although the record's hip hop, there's plenty to appeal to the neo soul crowd as well – well-delivered rhymes from Kero, almost with the cadence of sung vocals – presented with live instrumentation that really enforces the warm soul of the set – especially when guitarist Vince Czekus lays down some great 70s-styled lines! Kero's definitely in the lead, but there's some nicely collaborative moments on the set too – thanks to appearances from Ohmega Watts, Tuomo, and Ben Westbeech. Titles include "Welcome To The Bay", "When The Sunshine Comes", "Goodbye Forever", "Keep Pushin", "Let's Just Be Friends", "Love & Happiness", "Bossa Soundcheck", "A Song For Sabrina", "I Never Thought That We", and "On & On". LP, Vinyl record album
