Gianni Dell'Orso/Gianni OddiMondo Di Notte Oggi – Soul Meeting/Teenager ... 7-inch
Four Flies (Italy), 1975. New Copy (pic cover)... $19.99 22.99
Two fantastic tracks from this sweet Italian 70s soundtrack – both very worthy of being pressed on a funky 45! "Soul Meeting" has a strong piano line at the start, peppered with lots of funky congas – then given this sweet flute line that gets all jazzy and colorful, and really sends the tune home! "Teenager" has some great electric piano at the start – riffing right into a wah-wah-drenched rhythm that's mighty nice – as lots of jazzy horns come in and take these short funky solos over the top! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Limited to 350 copies.)

Lee MorganIntroducing Lee Morgan ... CD
Savoy, 1956. Used ... $8.99
One of Lee Morgan's first-ever recordings as a leader, cut way back when he was just a hip teenager from Philly with a bucketful of promise on the trumpet! The session's a crack hard bop date – with an all-star cast that includes Hank Mobley on tenor, Hank Jones on piano, Doug Watkins on bass, and Art Taylor on drums – and although the proceedings are a bit rough around the edges compared to some of the Blue Note sets, the album's still filled with a heck of a lot of fire, and like all Morgan albums, is totally worth owning! Tracks are longish, and filled with imagination – and titles include "Bet", "Hank's Shout", "Nostalgia", "That's All", and "Softly As In A Morning Sunrise". CD
(Out of print.)
Also available Introducing Lee Morgan (Japanese paper sleeve edition) ... CD 18.99

VariousLaurie Records Story Vol 3 – Girls & Girl Groups ... CD
Ace (UK), Mid 60s. New Copy ... $11.99 18.99
Great girl group grooves from Laurie Records – one of the powerhouses of the genre during the 60s! The set brings together some of the best that Laurie had to offer at the time – not just hits, but some great lesser-known gems that really make the package stand out from other girl group sets on the market – a wonderful collection of both rock and soul cuts that show there's still plenty left to discover if you know where to dig! Tracks are pulled not just from the main Laurie label, but also from other imprints too – including the Rust, Providence, and Harmon labels – and as usual, Ace has done a bang-up job with the notes and images – helping us learn plenty about the music while our ears are enjoying the sounds. Titles include "Hanky Panky" by The Summits, "Shy Guy" by The Charmers, "You're The Love Of My Life" by Brenda Lee Jones, "Stop Look & Listen" by The Chiffons, "He's Mine" by Linda & The Lindettes, "Your Big Mistake" by The Del-Rons, "I Still Love You" by Les Girls, "He's My Dream Boy" by Marie Antoinette, "How Can I Be Sure" by Gloria Dennis, "Circus Girl" by Bernadette Carroll, "Whenever A Teenager Cries" by The Jeans, "Nothing Went Right" by Lorrie Darnell, and "Your Life Is Gone" by Reparata. ✨✧ Eazy-EEazy-Duz-It ... CD
Ruthless/Priority, 1988. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Eazy's first and best LP, from back when he was trying to kid everyone that he was still a teenager. As we all know, Eazy Duz It is a lot more of a companion piece to Straight Outta Compton than a standout solo album by Eazy E, with most the writing credits going to almost everyone involved with NWA EXCEPT Eazy. We all also know that that is a good thing, as the puckish MC was a much better mouthpiece than he was a great thinker. As an instrument of helium voiced anger and bile spewing, Eazy was pretty hard to top in those days (Eminem is Humpty Hump in comparison), and those tight, propulsive beats Dre and co. conjured up in the late 80s will keep our lowriders bouncing until the end of time. Truly a conceptual masterpiece, whether you're comfortable with that or not. Includes "Radio", "Eazy Duz It", "Boyz In The Hood", and "We Want Eazy". CD
(Original Priority/Ruthless version.)

✨✧ Bishop Nehru & MF DOOMNehruvianDOOM ... LP
Lex, 2014. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A solid – and at the time, underappreciated – effort from Bishop Nehru and MF Doom – one we love even more with bit of time on its side! Doom is more or less focused on the production side on this one while the former handles the majority of the rhymes – and having arrived at a time when Doom's mic and stage presence were probably a bit more famous (or infamous, depending on when & where you might've seen him live) than his playful, moody and oddly melodic production genius, it was a reminder how great he could be – and Bishop Nehru is more than up to task of shining strong as the primary lyricist despite still being a teenager when this was made! Good stuff, and like most of Doom's productions, pretty timeless. Includes "First Day Of Class", "Om", "Mean The Most", "So Alone", "Darkness (HBU)", "Coming For You", Caskets", "Great Things" and "Disastrous". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Malcolm XMalcolm X Talks To Young People ... LP
Douglas, Early 60s/Early 70s. Very Good ... Out Of Stock
One of the rarer Malcolm X recordings – at least in that it hasn't been copied again and again. The LP features a talk given by Malcolm to a group of teenagers who were brought up to New York from Mississippi by the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee for young people who had made an outstanding contribution to Civil Rights in their area. LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has light wear and a small tear in the rear paste-on.)
