One of the crowning moments of Keith Jarrett's longform improvised style of the 70s – a huge batch of concert material recorded in Japan – done in a style that's similar to his famous Koln and Berlin concert records! The album features different performances from Kyoto, Osaka, Nagoya, Tokyo, and Sapporo – each titled after the city itself, and laid out without much in the way of other ornamentation or explanation – which creates an even greater focus on Jarrett's amazing work on piano, and his nonstop energy to create! A great set of Sonny Rollins Road Show material – recorded in Japan and NYC in the fall of 2010 – the latter from the Sonny Rollins @80 Concert at The Beacon Theatre! The set is bookended by the Japanese recordings – a nearly 15 minute "They Say It's Wonderful" live in Sapporo with Rollins backed by Russell Malone, Bob Cranshaw, Kobie Watkins and Sammy Figueroa. "St Thomas" features that line up in Tokyo a week later. The Beacon Theatre players include Ornette Coleman on "In A Sentimental Mood", Christian McBride on "Sonnymoon For Two and Roy Hargrove on "I Can't Get Started". CD
