Really wonderful music from British tenorist
Ronnie Scott – working here in the very familiar setting of the BBC Jazz Club, one that's almost as comfortable for
Scott as his own nite spot in Soho! The set presents three different performances recorded for radio – all
with the great
Stan Tracey on piano – working here at his Monkish best, which brings out a much more modern quality in
Ronnie than you might expect if you only know his recordings from the late 50s! Vocalist
Mark Murphy also appears on two tracks – again
with a quality that is quite advanced, as his work on the UK scene in the 60s really helped
Mark pave the way for the vocal advances he'd express in the 70s back in the US.
Murphy sings on "Waltz For Debby" and "Music That Makes Me Dance/
When She Makes Music" – and other titles include "Sweet Lotus Blossom", "Sweet & Lovely", "Close Your Eyes", "What's New", "The Night Is Young", and "I'll Be Seeing You".
