✨✧ REMMonster ... CD
Warner, 1994. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A nice later noise pop moment in REM's canon, bringing some electric fuzz to the forefront after the soaring, anthemic alt folk of Automatic For The People! Monster might've been a bit divisive at the time, and maybe it still is after all these years, but it holds up better than a lot of their later work, with catchy vocals sailing over reverb-y guitars. REM changed courses a lot over the years, but this might be one of the their latest daring twists, especially coming out at right after the most popular peak. Includes "What's The Frequency, Kenneth?", "Crush With Eyeliner", "Star 69", "I Don't Sleep, I Dream", "Strange Currencies" and more. CD

Craft, 1980s/1990s/Early 2000s. New Copy 2LP Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
A really big selection of rare material by REM – all recorded for the BBC in the UK, with a presentation that makes the whole thing way more than just a batch of live remakes! Even in the days when most other TV was just having artists lip synch to their hits, the BBC was allowing bands to perform in a truly live style – often encouraging them to give the audience something different – as REM does throughout this set. The "best of" version is half "live in studio" sides, and half live recordings broadcast by BBC – and titles include "Country Feedback", "Bad Day/Orange Crush", "Man On The Moon/Imitation Of Life", "Supernatural Superserious", "Lotus/At My Most Beautiful", "Driver 8/Radio Free Europe", "Losing My Religion/Man On The Moon", "Everybody Hurts/It's The End Of The World", and "What's The Frequency Kenneth/Crush With Eyeliner/Drive/Half A World Away/Pop Song 89". ✨✧ MonkeesMonkees Christmas Party ... CD
Rhino, 2018. New Copy ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
The first-ever Christmas album by The Monkees – recorded in 2018, many decades after their famous show went off the air! The images on the front show a youthful version of the group – but the vocals are all by the aged members of the second fab four – which even means that Mike Nesmith got back into the studio with Peter, Mickey, and Davy to sing some lines. All tracks feature an individual member of the group in the lead – and one of Peter Tork's tracks is a spare duet with James Lee Stanley on guitar. But most of the other numbers have a fuller feel, especially those with Andy Partridge of XTC, who really gets the 60s spirit right. Other guests include Peter Buck of REM and Rivers Cuomo of Weezer – and titles include "Snowfall", "Christmas Party", "Unwrap You At Christmas", "What Would Santa Do", "Mele Kalikimaka", "House Of Broken Gingerbread", "Merry Christmas Baby", and a great version of "Wonderful Christmastime". Nice cover by Mike Allred too! CD

Tracks are long and open, and have a vibe that's somewhere between Saft's great recent work on the Rare Noise label, and what you might expect from Allen's participation – on tunes that include "Inhale", "Goma", "Amulet", "Sacred Authority", "The Summoning", "Honoring The Healing Spirits", and "Loa". Amon Tobin & OthersVerbal Remixes & Collaborations EP ... CD
Ninja Tune (Canada), 2003. Used ... $5.99
This great little ep features five nice cuts that Amon produced in collabortation with like-minded beatheads Kid Koala, Bonobo, Steinski, and P-Love! The first untitled track with Kid Koala is the real keeper – a languid, hypnotic groover that plays like some of the trippier cuts of the last wave of trip hop a few years back. The other tracks range from tight, electric beat clappers to more of an electro soul beat kinda sound. Tracks include "I'll Have The Waldorf Salad", "Hot Korean Moms", Ten Piece Metric Wrench Set", and "Ownage". If those aren't enough incentive, "Verbal", one of the better electronic pulse-pounding groovers from Amon's Out Of Nowhere LP gets five exclusive remix treatments by Prefuse 73, Topo Gigio and others – plus the Quicktime video for the track, with great 80s style futureworld animation! Nicolas BeardeI Remember You – The Music Of Nat King Cole ... CD
Right Groove, 2019. New Copy ... $13.99 15.99
Nicolas Bearde is a singer with equal parts experience in jazz and soul – which makes him a perfect artist to take on the music of Nat King Cole – which he does here in a way that may well be better than any other Cole tribute we've heard, including a recent effort by Gregory Porter! This set's got more of a jazz vibe, and a very open style – classics associated with Nat's years recording for Capitol Records, but swung with a modern small combo style – thanks to arrangements from pianist Josh Nelson, whose talents really shape the set in a great way – as does tenorist Eric Alexander, who appears on a few tracks too – adding a tenor/vocal approach that Nat never used. Titles include "Funny", "That Sunday That Summer", "Sweet Lorraine", "Tenderly", "Rules Of The Road", and "I Wish You Love". CD

Beastie BoysCheck Your Head (limited 180 gram remastered edition) ... LP
Grand Royal, 1993. New Copy 2LP Gatefold (reissue)... $26.99 34.98
If Paul's Boutique was the Beasties' psychedelic hip hop Sgt Peppers, then Check Your Head is their White Album – a raw, stylistically sprawling, yet always connected batch of live instrumentation – backing rhymes that range from stream of consciousness to expertly written. Check Your Head is also their first outing without the guidance of outside producers, though the trio did bring in a host of regular collaborators like Money Mark and Mario Caldato Jr, who work as well with the Boys as ever. It's stunning how far The Beastie Boys grew creatively over their first few albums, and this point is pretty close to perfection! Titles include "Jimmy James", "Pass The Mic", "Gratitude", "Finger Lickin' Good", "So Whatcha Want", "Time For Livin'", "Something's Got To Give", "Groove Holmes" and "Professor Booty". Maria Bethania & Zeca PagodinhoDe Santo Amaro A Xerem ... CD
Biscoito Fino (Brazil), 2019. New Copy 2CD ... $34.99
A classic-styled Brazilian live collaboration – a set with solo performances by each of the stars in the lead, and some great duet material together! The approach is one that's been used on Brazilian albums from the earliest records by Elis Regina and Jair Rodriguez – and it's still a fantastic way to present two strong singers in their best light – as Maria Bethania seems to hit a whole new level of warmth when singing alongside Zeca Pagodinho! Arrangements for Zeca's tracks are by Paulao De 7 Cordas, and Maria's are by Jaime Alem – and the set begins and ends with a number of duets, and features solo passages in the middle. Titles include "Sono Meu", "Samba Pras Mocas", "Vai Vadiar", "Adalgisa/Falsa Baiana", "Iluminada", "Pano Legal/Safe Socaite", "Reconvexo", "Gente Humilde", "Amaro A Xerem", "Naquela Mesa", "Desde O Samba E Samba", and "Verdade". Okka Disk, 2007. New Copy ... $9.99
A sharp-edged Chicago quartet – made up of key players of the underground scene of the past decade or so – including Jeb Bishop on trombone, Dave Rempis on saxes, Nate McBride on bass, and Tim Daisy on drums! The sound here is forceful, but nicely restrained – not nearly as free as some of the other work by the players, and with a strongly compositional sensibility that often makes the most of dark notes and moody rhythms. Titles are all originals by members of the group, and tracks include "Riser", "Jet Lag", "Rewind", "Mish Mumkin", "Backend Cover", and "Four Broken Plates". CD

Ruben BladesMaestra Vida Vol 1 – Primera Parte (remastered edition) ... CD
Fania, 1979. Used ... $16.99
An amazing achievement for Ruben Blades – a full suite of tracks conceived and composed by Ruben as a "disco drama" on wax! The work isn't the disco-styled album you might think from this description – and is more of a mini-opera or concept album by Blades, one that features ambitious arrangements from Louie Cruz, Marty Sheller, and Carlos Franzetti – using strings and more standard Latin backings to expand the tunes tremendously, and make the whole album work with the full drama it requires. There's a few spoken bits on the set, which give way to some great songs – and the album also has a few instrumental passages. Willie Colon produced and supervised the whole effort – and tracks on the first part include "Prologo", "Manuela", "Carmelo (part 1)", "Dejenme Reir", and "El Nascimento De Ramiro". CD

Art BlakeyCaravan (20 bit remaster with bonus tracks) ... CD
Riverside, 1962. Used ... Just Sold Out!
One of the best non-Blue Note sessions from Art Blakey in the 60s – a really searing set that features the sextet lineup of the Jazz Messengers – a group that's filled with legends who include Freddie Hubbard on trumpet, Wayne Shorter on tenor, Curtis Fuller on trombone, Reggie Workman on bass, and Cedar Walton on piano! The sextet format really pushes the energy of the group – and allows for even more wonderful horn interplay than before – while still allowing for lots of solo space for individual voices. Tracks are long and open, with a bouncing lyrical groove that's more soaring than some of the heavy-hitting earlier albums from Blakey, but no less pleasing – and possibly even a bit more soulful! Titles include "Sweet N Sour", "This Is For Albert", "Skylark", and "Thermo". CD

Art Blakey & The Jazz MessengersAt The Cafe Bohemia Vol 1 (RVG remaster edition) ... CD
Blue Note, 1955. Used ... $4.99
A classic early set featuring the Jazz Messengers back when the group still included Horace Silver, Hank Mobley, and Kenny Dorham – one of the earliest and purest versions of Blakey's hardbop vision, touched with the slightly exotic lyricism of Silver, which gives the tracks a wonderful edge. The playing is excellent throughout – and the album's the kind of live stormer that shows why the group were such a huge draw right out of the box, and why they performed as well (if not better) in a live setting than they did ain a studio one! Tracks include "Minor's Holiday", "The Theme", "Prince Albert", and "Deciphering The Message" – and the CD features 3 bonus tracks, all long, plus great remastering! CD

Blue Note, 1954. Used ... $3.99
A wonderfully hard-storming set – and a record that not only firmly put the Jazz Messengers on the map, but also set a whole new standard for live jazz recording! The group here is the early version of the Messengers – almost co-led by drummer Art Blakey with pianist Horace Silver – and featuring Clifford Brown on trumpet, just a few months before his early death – plus Lou Donaldson on alto and Curley Russell on bass. The presence of alto instead of tenor makes the sound slightly different than later incarnations of the group – and the overall approach is one that virtually defines the shift from straight bop to hardbop in the 50s – a mode that both Blakey and Silver were key in creating. Tracks include "Split Kick", "Quicksilver", "Mayreh", and "A Night In Tunisia". CD features 2 bonus tracks, and great remastering! CD

Flavio BoltroI Remember Clifford ... CD
Venus (Japan), 2019. New Copy ... $34.99
A beautiful record from trumpeter Flavio Boltro – and one that's way more than the Clifford Brown tribute that you might guess from the title! First off, Flavio's phrasing here is much more earthy than Brownie's – and maybe even more so than some of Boltro's other records too, with less of the sparkle – and even this current of humanity, or fragility, that we don't always hear from the Italian trumpeter. Next, the set also does include a few of the Clifford Brown-related songs from back in the day, but also has some later material too – which rounds things out with a very deep vibe – partly thanks to the strong rhythm support from Massimo Farao on piano, Nicola Barbon on bass, and Ruben Bellavia on drums. Titles include "Ceora", "Nutty", "Con Alma", "Wasabi Blues", "Mamacita", and "Whisper Not". CD

Dave and crew made the trip at the request of the kids – breaking from their mostly San Francisco-based recording career to cut what would end up becoming a very successful album in Dave's catalog, and begin a whole "at" or "goes to" series in his career. The group's the early quartet with Paul Desmond, Lloyd Davis, and Ron Crotty – and tunes include long and jamming versions of "The Way You Look Tonight", "How High The Moon", and "Stardust". CD

Blue Note, 1963. Used ... $5.99
Great great stuff – and for some folks, THE album by Kenny Burrell! This classic set features the guitarist in a quintet with Stanley Turrentine on tenor, Major Holly on bass, Bill English on drums, and the great Ray Barretto on conga – a really great lineup that sparkles with soulful imagination, and moves with a very rhythmic groove – thanks to Ray's extra percussion contribution on the bottom! Burrell's guitar somehow seems a bit harder and grittier than ever – and titles include the classic groover "Chittlins Con Carne", an early jazz dance classic – plus "Soul Lament", "Wavy Gravy", and "Mule". Glen CampbellGlen Travis Campbell/I Knew Jesus/I Remember Hank Williams ... CD
Capitol/BGO (UK), 1972/1973. New Copy 2CD ... $8.99 16.99
A trio of early 70s albums from Glen Campbell – all of them a lot more obscure than his hits! Glen Travis Campbell has a cover proclaiming that the set is "a new musical path" – and producer Jimmy Bowen works with bigger backings from Larry Muhuberac to use soaring strings next to the acoustic core, in ways that push Glen into some of the more soulful expressions he had to offer. The approach is a bit hard to describe, but it's different both from country roots, and from Jimmy Webb territory – that majestic Glen Campbell sound rising up nicely – on tunes that include "One Last Time", "I Will Never Pass This Way Again", "Sweet Fantasy", "Running Scared", "Just For What I Am", and "The Last Thing On My Mind". I Knew Jesus is a record that continues the further exploration of Glen Campbell's vocal range – with some mellow fluid moments that are awash in deeper trills, mixed with more upfront tunes that do a great job of unlocking more of the country currents in Glen's talents – a great shift, and one that would come on even more strongly in his mid 70s return to fame. The set includes a great version of the Kinky Friedman song "Sold American" – one we maybe like even better than Kinky's – plus "I Take It On Home", "I Want To Be With You Always", "Give Me Back That Old Familiar Feeling", "You're The One", and "On This Road". On the final album, Glen Campbell takes on the music of Hank Williams – but in a way that often has the sort of dreamy haze that goes with the "I Remember" in the title! The songs are all Hank's, but the presentation isn't gritty honky tonk – and instead uses fuller backings with Glen's lead vocals, almost as if the whole thing were done in the mid 60s by Chet Atkins at RCA! Jimmy Bowen's at the helm, but there's backup singers and fuller strings than before – which really changes up the Campbell takes on tunes that include "Cold Cold Heart", "Half As Much", "Your Cheatin Heart", "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry", and "You Win Again". Johnny Cash & June CarterCarryin' On With Johnny Cash & June Carter (remastered edition) ... CD
Columbia/Legacy, 1967. New Copy ... $4.99 7.99
Johnny first album collaboration with his soon-to-be wife June Carter, and it's a nice one! Carryin' On has it's share of sweet, lovely moments shared by the two, but also has a lot more cool 60s oddball touches than one would expect. The couple cover Dylan's "It Ain't Me Babe" and two Ray Charles tunes, "I Got A Woman" and "What I Say". All three sound pretty strange coming out of hard-nosed Johnny, and prove to be quite fun and endearing, and very indicative of the freedom he had at Columbia to do whatever the heck he wanted. Other tracks include "Shantytown", "Pack Up Your Sorrows", "Jackson", "What A Good Thing We Had", and "No, No, No". Includes two bonus tracks from the sessions, and new liner notes by old pal Carl Perkins. CD

Flipper/Spettro (Italy), 1972. New Copy (reissue)... $19.99
A sweet little sound library album – of the sort that first got us digging for sound library records so many years ago! This one's got it all – some funky moments, some jazzy bits, and a number of cuts that remind us of our favorite Italian soundtracks from the period – served up by three different composers who really know their thing – and who definitely are working at the grooviest side of their talents! Most instrumentation is small combo, and shifts nicely over the course of the album – with tablas on one number, breezy flute on another, sweet keyboards on the next – continuing a blend of elements that really makes for a varied and compelling set. Titles include "Astrazione Per Flauto", "Venerdi Ore 20:30", "Idee", "Lunedi Ore 7:45", "Filanda", "Tibetano", and "Ansieta". LP, Vinyl record album

Columbia, 1966. Very Good ... $2.99
A slightly headier sound than before from Chad & Jeremy – music that's still in a great mix of Brit Invasion and Sunshine Pop, but which also shows a somewhat deeper sensibility too – a desire to reach past the simpler pop modes that first got the pair going here in the US! Chad Stuart's listed as the music director for the album – and we're not sure if he's the one responsible for the sound, but there's definitely some great elements going on – bits of flute, harpsichord, flugelhorn, and more – all wrapped up beautifully with some great production that hangs the whole album in a warmly harmonic pillow of sound. Titles include "Ain't It Nice", "Distant Shores", "Morning", "Homeward Bound", "You Are She", and "Don't Make Me Do It". LP, Vinyl record album

Mighty funky mushrooms from the Canadian scene of the early 70s – a group who work with a jazzy sort of energy, but also know when to rock out as well – serving up this wonderful blend of saxes, organ, guitar, bass, and drums! The songs are mostly instrumental, and kind of poised between late beat group and early prog modes – usually with a great sort of groove going on at the bottom, almost soul jazz moving into fusion – and solos that get the job done, but all without ever getting too overindulgent! The group's a sextet, and are wonderfully sharp throughout – on titles that include "Folies Du Mercredi", "Pop Pino", "Le Ghetto Noir", "Dynamite", "Le Train", and "Le Chateau Hante". Blue Note, 1958. Used ... $4.99
One of the most legendary albums on Blue Note – or maybe THE most legendary albums on Blue Note – a stunning session that shows what the label was capable of when it was really hitting on all burners – from the lineup to the music to the production – and even the classic cover art on the front! The album's a crowning achievement for pianist Sonny Clark – a player who'd already brought greatness to the world before the record, but really knocks it out of the park during the session – leading a razor sharp lineup that includes Art Farmer on trumpet, Jackie McLean on alto, Paul Chambers on bass, and Philly Joe Jones on drums – all coming together with some magic in the studio, crafting a sound that forever put Blue Note on the map! Tracks are long, open-ended, and almost effortlessly soulful – and titles include Clark's classics "Cool Struttin" and "Blue Minor", plus versions of "Sippin At Bells" and "Deep Night". Plus, this CD also adds 2 long bonus cuts – "Lover" and "Royal Flush" – both of which weren't on the original album! CD

A brilliant new move for Willie Colon – a set that goes even further than his mid 70s classics with Ruben Blades, and pushes Willie into a Pan-American consciousness carried off with ambitious musical vision! The sound is still salsa at the core, but Willie's also brought in bits of other South American influences – traces of styles from Columbia, Argentina, and most importantly Brazil – heard wonderfully on Willie's reading of Chico Buarque's excellent "Oh Que Sera"! The backings are full, and sometimes have large orchestrations – and the vocals are both proud yet somehow fragile at the same time. Titles include "Oh, Que Sera?", "Mi Sueno", "Celo", "Amor Verdadero", "Al Dormir", "Toma Mis Manos", and "Sueno De Papelote". CD

✨✧ John ColtraneLove Supreme ... LP
Impulse, 1964. Very Good Gatefold ... $199.99
Maybe one of the greatest jazz albums of all time – a real breakthrough moment for the legendary John Coltrane, and the blueprint for generations of jazz records to come! Trane was already breaking down plenty of boundaries before Love Supreme – but he knocked it out of the park for the album – which is a full-length suite of spiritual expression, one that gives even greater focus and message to Coltrane's long-spiralling style of soloing on the tenor sax! The group here is the classic quartet – McCoy Tyner on piano, Jimmy Garrison on bass, and Elvin Jones on drums – taking Trane up to the heavens on waves of modal energy, but also holding his spirit closer to the planet than on some of later, more outside performances. There's a slight bit of vocalization on the record – that chanted energy that imbues the set with so much love – and movements include "Acknowledgement", "Resolution", "Pursuance", and "Psalm". Wonderful mellow work from Sam Cooke – and a set that's recorded with a sound that's very much in keeping with the "night beat" that you might expect from the title! In fact, there's not so much a "beat" as a simple easy groove – a gentle sort of "night" feeling, with some piano in the lead on many tracks, and backing by a larger group conducted by Rene Hall – a great setting that lets Cooke hit some of his most soulful moments on record from the time! The album includes many lesser-known Cooke performances – including "Trouble Blues", "You Gotta Move", "Fool's Paradise", "Lost & Lookin", and "Mean Old World". CD

A classic collaboration between Celia Cruz and Johnny Pacheco – one that uses the rootsier sounds of Pacheco's tumbao group to further focus the energy of Celia's vocals! The record's got a solid, cohesive feel that makes it easily one of the best Celia Cruz sessions of the 70s – a focus that no doubt comes from the sharp arrangements by Louie Ramirez, Bobby Valentin, Johnny Pacheco, and Papo Lucca – the latter of whom plays piano in Pacheco's group on the record. Charlie Rodriguez plays tres on a number of tracks, further enforcing the roosty element of the music – and titles include "Cuala", "Oriza Eh", "La Sopa En Botella", "No Aguanto Mas", "Rico Changui", and "Ni Hablar". Miles DavisBirth Of The Cool (RVG remaster edition) ... CD
Capitol, Late 40s/Early 50s. Used ... $2.99
Legendary early work from trumpeter Miles Davis – late 40s sessions for Capitol Records that are completely different than the bop material he was cutting with Charlie Parker and on his own! Instead, these sides have Miles working with a complex, more arranged style – built up with a young Gil Evans, in a mode that prefaces the later famous recordings the pair would make in the late 50s for Columbia. Here, the tracks are shorter, but beautifully blend bop ideas with fuller arrangements – and Davis blows alongside other key young modernists in a variety of larger groups – with work from Lee Konitz on alto, Gerry Mulligan on baritone sax, JJ Johnson and Kai Winding on trombones, Al Haig and John Lewis on piano, and Kenny Clarke and Max Roach on drums. Mulligan contributed plenty, too – his ideas on an overall sound definitely helped shape these sides – and the record's go on to legendary status – even though it's very different than most other Miles Davis from the time. Titles include "Godchild", "Jeru", "Move", "Venus De Milo", "Budo", and "Deception". CD

✨✧ Mark DimondBrujeria (remastered edition) ... CD
Vaya/Fania, 1971. Used ... $39.99
An obscure early album from Mark "Markolino" Dimond – one that features some especially great vocals from Angel Canales! Dimond's piano really adds a heck of a lot to the set – coming across with a boldness that sometimes recalls Eddie Palmieri, but also laying back with warmer tones that augment the jazzier style of instrumentation here – a groove that's often still got traces of the Latin Soul era at the bottom rhythms, even though the overall instrumentation tends a bit more towards 70s salsa. Canales' vocals are wonderful – very expressive but always in tune with the groove – and Dimond's darker notes on the keys help things stay soulful throughout. The tracks have a tight jaunty feel – very much like those on Patton's mid 60s sides for Blue Note, with lots of room for each player to solo intently – but still a strong focus on the overall groove of the ensemble. Eremite, 2019. New Copy 2LP Gatefold ... Just Sold Out!
A really fantastic album from bassist Joshua Abrams – a set that may well be his greatest to date – and that's saying a lot, given all the other work he's given us in recent years! The double-length set has Abrams working with this lineup of improvising jazz talents, but in a way that's very rhythmic, and very organic – slow-building songs that almost seem to mix jazz with inspiration from gamelan music, but with very spiritual currents overall – music that builds slowly and flows to the cosmos – almost in a way that reminds us of the seminal "On The Beach" by Phil Cohran & The Artistic Heritage Ensemble! Yet Abrams is very much in his own territory here – working with a lineup that features the leader on guimbri, Lisa Alvarado on harmonium and gongs, Mikel Avery on tam-tam and gongs, Ben Boye on electric autoharp and piano, Hamid Drake on tabla and tar, Ben Lamar Gay on cornet, Nick Mazzarella on alto saxophone, and Jason Stein on bass clarinet – with every member of the ensemble also performing on flutes. The sound is incredible – music to build a bridge to the heavens – and titles include "In Memory's Prism", "Finite", "Shadow Conductor", and "Agree". LP, Vinyl record album

A tremendous step forward for the young Muhal Richard Abrams – a set that still shows his early roots in the AACM, but which also blossoms with some of his more serious compositional efforts to come! There's a sensitivity here that really stands out – even among Abrams' contemporaries – a striving for a wider range of expression – some as bold as before, some much more deeply personal and intimate. The tracks feature a shifting array of players – working alongside Abrams piano, and building up the sound in a number of different ways. Players include Wallace McMillan on flute and sax, Edwin Daugherty on sax, Richard Brown on sax, Emanuel Cranshaw on vibes, Rufus Reid on bass, and Steve McCall and Wilbur Campbell on drums. Ella Jackson provides vocals on "How Are You?" – and other titles include "Ballad For New Souls", "Things To Come From Those Now Gone", "In Retrospect", "Ballad For Old Souls", "1 & 4 Plus 2 & 7", and "March Of The Transients". Johnny AceMemorial Album ... LP
Duke, Early 50s. Very Good+ ... $4.99
The only full album from Johnny Ace – a key figure in the Memphis scene of the 50s, and one of the first great casualties of rock and roll! Johnny was one of the first singers to record for the legendary Duke label, and worked in a mode that helped transform the smoother style of the west coast postwar R&B singers into a rougher, rawer mode that would pave the way for Memphis soul in years to come. And although Johnny died a tragic early death (and partially because of it), the impact of his work was tremendous, even in the few short years for which he recorded for Duke – leading to countless posthumous collections, mostly illegitimate, which often presented Johnny's work in less-than-superior conditions. This set is still the best – and features 12 tracks that Ace recorded for the Duke label. Titles include "How Can You Be So Mean", "My Song", "The Clock", "Cross My Heart", "Anymore", "Don't You Know", "Saving My Love For You", "So Lonely", and "Pledging My Love". LP, Vinyl record album
