✨✧ Peabo BrysonPeabo ... LP
Bullet, 1976. Very Good ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Early work by Peabo – smooth soul with a sophisticated feel, but not as stiff and stodgy as his later work, which could sometimes verge on the adult contemporary side. Peabo's voice has an honest soulful quality, and the album's got arrangements by Gene Page that move along nicely – never too fast, never too slow, with a style that shows the huge potential that Peabo could have in the mid 70s. Titles include "Just A Matter Of Time", "Just Another Day", "You Bring Out The Best In Me", "Smile", "Underground Music", and "Let The Music Play". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Peabo BrysonQuiet Storm ... LP
Elektra, 1986. Near Mint- ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A great little record from Peabo Bryson – recorded at the height of his mainstream fame, but still with plenty of the best elements from the early days too! The album's definitely got a polished feel, but it's not nearly as sleepy as you might expect from the Quiet Storm title – certainly with a bit of a nod to the popularity of that genre at the time, but also with a feel that's much fuller, and often a bit more upbeat too. Peabo produced the set himself, and also plays keyboards on some tracks – and titles include "Since I've Been In Love", "Somebody In Your Life", "If You Love Me", "The Higher You Climb", "Catch 22", and "Only At Night". ✨✧ Peabo Bryson & Roberta FlackBorn To Love (with bonus tracks) ... CD
Capitol/Soulmusic.com (UK), 1983. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
The beautiful full scale duets set from Peabo Bryson and Roberta Flack – a record that's no doubt defined by its biggest hit – but the rest is just as great! Born To Love kicks off with "Tonight I Celebrate My Love For You" – a song that's doubtlessly one of the most inescapable slow dance classics of all time – and if its ubiquity overshadows the rest of the record, that's not because it's any less excellent! Peabo's affectionate style is in top form here, and Roberta is such a perfect duet partner – with plenty of lead moments of her own. It definitely feels like a perfectly balanced partnership. The record's got some lovely slow jams on par with the aforementioned pop soul standard, plus some great ones that up the tempo a little bit. Other titles include "Blame It On Me", "Born To Love", "Heaven Above Me", "Comin' Alive", "Can We Find Love Again", "You're Looking Like Love To Me" and more. 3 bonus tracks on this Soulmusic CD version: US single version of "You're Looking Like Love To Me", plus UK 12" and 7" mixes of "Heaven Above Me". ✨✧ Regina BelleShow Me The Way – The Columbia Anthology ... CD
Columbia/Soulmusic.com (UK), Late 80s/Early 90s. New Copy 2 CDs ... Out Of Stock
A great collection of work from Regina Belle – one that features a number of remixes, singles, and collaborations – as well as the album tracks that made her one of the most rock-solid female soul singers at the end of the 80s! At some level, Regina's a singer from another time – the kind of vocalist with a soaring, powerful style that would have been right at home in both the club styles and mellower modes of the 70s – but which also makes for a great match here in an assortment of catchy tunes, quiet storm numbers, and some great midtempo charmers. Given the more electric instrumentation often used in these productions, the richness of Belle's voice really helps ground these tunes – and the package features a total of 29 tracks that include "Love TKO", "You Got The Love (rmx)", "Show Me The Way", "Please Be Mine", "After The Love Has Lost Its Shine", "How Could You Do It To Me (rmx)", "Good Lovin", "Make It Like It Was", "I'll Be Around", "You Make Me Feel Brand New", "So Many Tears (cool mix)", "Someday We'll All Be Free/Save The Children", "Interlude/Passion", and "Do You Wanna Get Serious" – plus duets "Better Together" with Johnny Mathis, "I Can't Imagine" with Peabo Bryson, and "All I Want Is Forever" by JT Taylor.
