Peabo BrysonPositive ... CD
Elektra/Wounded Bird, 1988. New Copy ... $6.99 11.98
Peabo Bryson in prime pop soul years – a time when he was really crossing over big, thanks to a strong ear for the mainstream market! Bryson's as positive and confident here as you might guess from the title – a master balladeer in the smoother soul mode – still with that incredible range in his voice, but also a bit more concerned with the softer, more intimate side of his vocal powers. Regina Belle duets with Peabo on the track "Without You" – which was penned by Lamont Dozier – and other titles include "Positive", "Come On Over Tonight", "I Want To Know", "Tonight", "When We Need It Bad", "Hurt", and "This Time Around". Peabo Bryson & Roberta FlackBorn To Love ... CD
Capitol, 1983. Used ... $5.99
The beautiful full scale duets set from Peabo Bryson and Roberta Flack – a record that's no doubt defined by its biggest hit – but the rest is just as great! Born To Love kicks off with "Tonight I Celebrate My Love For You" – a song that's doubtlessly one of the most inescapable slow dance classics of all time – and if its ubiquity overshadows the rest of the record, that's not because it's any less excellent! Peabo's affectionate style is in top form here, and Roberta is such a perfect duet partner – with plenty of lead moments of her own. It definitely feels like a perfectly balanced partnership. The record's got some lovely slow jams on par with the aforementioned pop soul standard, plus some great ones that up the tempo a little bit. Other titles include "Blame It On Me", "Born To Love", "Heaven Above Me", "Comin' Alive", "Can We Find Love Again", "You're Looking Like Love To Me" and more. CD
(Out of print, Columbia House pressing.)

✨✧ Peabo BrysonReaching For The Sky ... LP
Capitol, 1978. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Peabo Bryson's first for Capitol – and a sublime blend of modern soul that's light years ahead of any of his later work! Part of the credit goes to Richard Evans – who's worked out these wonderfully smooth stepping arrangements that are a perfect accompaniment for Peabo's deep voice, but which also avoid any of the syrupy indulgence of later records. And sure, Peabo's still got that expressive tone – but he's keeping it mean and lean to let the music keep on going strongly in a Capitol Rare kind of way. Titles include "Reaching For The Sky", "Hold On To The World", "Love From Your Heart", "Love Walked Out On Me", "You Haven't Learned About Love", and "Feel The Fire". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has a cutout hole.)
