OutkastATLiens (2LP 180 gram picture disc) ... LP
LaFace, 1996. New Copy 2LP (reissue)... $34.99
The huge creative leap forward for Outkast – and one of the greatest hip hop albums ever! The duo laid some incredible groundwork with the debut Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, but this one is really their first (and stunningly, not their last) masterpiece. Timeless and soulful outer space grooves lace teh production and beats behind crazy good, free flowing, inventive rhymes that still manage to stay grounded enough to aptly reflect the darker realities of the ATL of the time. Most tracks have a laid back southern fried groove, and Dre and Big Boi's rhymes are as great as ever here. Essential! Tracks include "ATLiens", "Two Dope Boyz (In A Cadillac)", "Wheelz Of Steel", "Jazzy Belle", "Babylon", "Millennium", and "13th Floor/Growing Old". 14 cuts in all. LP, Vinyl record album
(Really nice 20th anniversary double picture disc pressing!)

OutkastIdlewild ... LP
LaFace/Zomba, 2006. New Copy 3LPs ... $31.99
The new album from Outkast and the soundtrack to their film Idlewild! Outkast has been daring haters for years to pounce at will – and they really take that approach to the next level by making what is far and away their oddest project in midst of the most scrutiny they will probably ever receive. We're lacking a bit of perspective in that we haven't seen the movie – but the best stuff probably makes it worth picking up. Idlewild continues the tag team style of Speakerboxx/Love Below in that the duo rarely appear together on the same tracks. The single "Mighty O" is the most notable expection, in that both rappers do their thing on it – and 3000 is actually rapping! The rest of the album, surprisingly, has a fairly coherent flow – with little touches of the 1930s vibe and atmosphere ( the setting of the film) – as envisioned by forward looking hip hoppers. It's a daring set of tracks with strong moments – and lots of additional singing by Sleepy Brown and others. Tracks include "Mighty O", "Peaches" feat Sleepy Brown & Scar, "Idlewild Blue (Don'tchu Worry 'Bout Me", "N2U" feat Khujo Goodie, "Morris Brown" feat Scar & Sleepy Brown, "Chronomentrophobia", "The Train" feat Sleep Brown & Scar, "Life Is Like A Musical", "Hollywood Divorce" feat Lil' Wayne & Snoop Dogg, "Buggface", "PJ & Rooster", "Greatest Show On Earth" feat Macy Gray. "When I Look In Your Eyes", "Dyin' To Live" and "A Bad Note". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ OutkastStankonia ... LP
LaFace, 2000. New Copy 2LP ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
One of the most hyped hip hop album by rock critics of the last decade – but don't hold that against Stankonia, because these ghetto grooves from planet P-Funk were exactly what the world needed in 2000! The millenium blowout party jam feel throughout is surely a nice change of pace from all the doom and gloom out there, but they still manage to spit out enough reality to keep things feeling true – particularly in the playful battle of the sexes showdowns. Dre, Big Boi and Organized Noize continue to innovate, even if they are at the top of the charts – and we can't wait to see where they take it all next! Tracks include "Gasoline Dreams", "So Fresh, So Clean", "Ms. Jackson", "Spaghetti Junction", "I'll Call Before I Come" featuring Gangsta Boo & Eco, "B.O.B.", "Xplosion" featuring B-Real, "We Luv Deez Hoez", "Humble Mumble" featuring Erykah Badu, "Red Velvet", "Gangsta Sh*t", "Toilet Tisha" "Slum Beautiful", and "Stankonia (Stanklove)". ✨✧ OutkastSouthernplayalisticadillacmuzik ... LP
LaFace/Legacy, 1994. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
The mid 90s instant classic! Outkast's debut set hem up as one of the most distinctive hip hop duos ever, right out of the gate, but it also helped to established the freewheeling, funky dirty south sound, thanks to genius Organized Noize production! The Outkast sound would get bigger and more wildly eclectic on the records to follow Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, but the consistent, funky southern swagger on this one holds up incredibly well. It sounds fresh to this day! Includes breakout hit "Player's Ball", "Crumblin Erb", "Git Up, Git Out", "Claimin' True", "Funky Ride", "Soouthernplayalisticadillacmuzik", "Ain't No Thang", "CallOf Da Wild", "Hootie Hoo" and a couple of interludes. ✨✧ OutkastSpeakerboxxx/The Love Below (4LP set) ... LP
LaFace, 2003. New Copy 4LP Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
Pick any 10 words out of any Outkast album description on our pages at random, and you'll see how dearly we've loved these boys throughout the years – but truth be told, deep down we didn't think that they would be able to pull off the double album/solo album project(s). We were seriously wrong – Speakerboxxx/Love Below is HUGE in every way, and both halves are great all the way through! If you were worried Big Boi's Speakerboxxx half would be lazy southern hip hop without Andre's freaky presence throughout, you can put those fears to rest right now. Speakerboxxx is a deeply soulful electro hopping pounder from front to back – every bit as innovative as Andre's half! Tracks include "Ghettomusick" (which features one of just two appearances by A3000 on the whole disc), "Bowtie" with Sleepy Brown, "Bust" with Killer Mike, "Church", "Tomb Of The Boom" with Konkrete, Big Gipp and Ludacris, "Flip Flop" with Jay-Z, "The Way You Move" and more. A lot of press has been given to the assumption that Andre 3000 has largely forsaken hip hop on his half (The Love Below) and has instead dived head first into cosmic future funk. Well, the rumors are true. There's lots of straight up jazz piano and horn bits on the Love Below, with Andre's half serious, half tongue-in-cheek romantic soul cabaret croon way over the top. It's steeped in the classic Outkast party vibe, but with lots of Sign Of The Times-era Prince (complete with androgynous distorted vocals), Parliament and Cameo thrown into the mix. Sick, energetic genius! Tracks include the deliriously great "Hey Ya!" single, "She Lives In My Lap", "Love Hater", "Happy Valentine's Day", "Roses", "Good Day, Good Sir", "Behold A Lady", "Pink And Blue", "Spread", "Dracula's Lady" with Kelis, and more. Who the hell knows what they can possibly do to surprise us after this – but wherever Andre 3000 and Big Boi go from here, they each have yet another classic in the discography! Earth Wind & FireIllumination (with bonus tracks) ... LP
Sanctuary/BMG, 2005. New Copy 2LP (reissue)... $28.99 29.99
Earth Wind & Fire's most ambitiously orchestrated records of recent years – one that pairs the legendary funk/soul/pop collective with contemporary players such as Will I Am of Black Eyed Peas, Raphael Saadiq, Floetry, Big Boi of Outkast, Sleepy Brown and others! Believe us, we were as skeptical as the rest of you when this project first materialized, so it's really a wonderful surprise to report that it works very well! The album is essentially a modern, uptempo neo soul effort by a group that just happens to be legendary – with clean vocals and horns by the group, and warm production by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Will I Am and Raphael Saadiq. It may not be a classic on par with the 70s work, but it's easily the best Earth Wind & Fire album in at least a decade! Tracks include "Lovely People" feat Will I Am, "Show Me The Way" feat Raphael Saadiq, "Work It Out", "Elevated" feat Floetry, "Pass You By", "Pure Gold" and more! LP version features bonus tracks – instrumentals of "Lovely People" and "Elevated". LP, Vinyl record album
