Carmen LundyCode Noir ... CD
Afrasia, 2017. New Copy ... $14.99 16.98
Fantastic work from Carmen Lundy – one of our favorite jazz singers of all time, and an artist who keeps on giving us her best as the years go on! This album's definitely some of Carmen's best – as it features the singer working with a wonderful group that includes Jeff Parker on guitar, Patrice Rushen on piano, Ben Williams on bass, and Kendrick Scott on drums – a tight core combo who really find a way to push Lundy's energy even more than usual – while Carmen herself handles other keyboards with her vocals, and serves especially righteous material! There's a bit more politics here than on previous records – perfect for the spirit of the moment – but Carmen also mixes a lot of warmth and love into her music as well. Titles include "Black & Blues", "Afterglow", "Whatever It Takes", "I Keep Falling", "The Island The Sea & You", "Have A Little Faith", and "Another Chance". CD

VariousGunsmoke Vols 3 & 4 – Dark Tales Of Western Noir From A Ghost Town Jukebox (10 inch vinyl) ... CD
Stag O Lee (Germany), Late 50s/Early 60s. New Copy ... $15.99
A cool collection of really oddball numbers – unusual country, offbeat pop numbers, and a fair bit of cuts that have a popcorn groove somewhere down there at the bottom! These aren't the usual sorts of cuts you might expect – and instead, the collection's definitely on the hipper side of the spectrum from the things we hear from the Stag O Lee label – maybe the farther reaches past Bear Family and Ace records – into the real hinterland of the obscure 45. CD brings together material from the 10" LP sets vols 3 and 4 – and tracks include "Fire Of Love" by Jody Reynolds, "Lonely Moon" by Johnny Wells, "On The Horizon" by Ben E King, "Squaw Girl" by Fatima, "Hellbound Train" by Marie Robertson, "Tennessee Hillbilly Ghost" by Eddy Arnold, "Hard Working Man" by Dorsey Burnette, "Lumber City" by Big Buddy K, "Wild Streak" by Johnny Fallin, "Ghost Town" by Eddie Miller, "Down Bound Train" by Frank Gay & The Gayblades, "Bury Me Deep" by Bill Shaw, "The Living Dead" by Jim Burgett, "Mistery's Child" by Richard Hayes, "Workin On The Santa Fe" by Randy Starr, "Cell Walls" by Craig Brown, and "Rebel Heart" by Larry Hall. Stag O Lee (Germany), Late 50s/Early 60s. New Copy ... $19.99
Plenty to grind to here – a moody mix of R&B, early soul, and other gritty styles from the late 50s and early 60s – served up in a set that may well be the best so far in this excellent series! In a world where some of the contemporary R&B collectors aim for cuts that are supposed to shake certain parts of the female anatomy, these guys look more for deep tracks that groove very slowly – with a kind of blue lights in the basement vibe! Titles include "Mr Blues" by Jo & Ann, "Hey Hully Gully No 2" by Van Pince & His Complex, "Danger" by Jimmy Witherspoon, "Living By The Gun" by Dick Holler & His Rockets, "I'm Waitin" by Lee Richards with Left Bates Orchestra, "The Web" by Abie Available Baker, "The Place" by Johnny Guidry with Jeanie & The Clowns, and "Sweetheart" by Frank Heppingstall. ✨✧ KaS ProductBlack & Noir – Mutant Synth Punk From France 1980 to 1983 ... LP
Soul Jazz (UK), Early 80s. Near Mint- ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Overlooked work from the French scene of the post-punk years – a musical world that never got the same global exposure as sounds from the UK – which is quite a surprise, given that the lyrics here are all in English! The sound is great – lean, mean, and electro – inspired by punk, but taken into analogue electronic styles – yet also not with the kind of spare, dark sounds of the cold wave generation. Instead, these guys are pretty vibrant – often moving at a punkish pace, with both lyrics and instrumentation, but using keyboards as much as riffing guitars. The vibe is very much like some of the coolest sounds on Rough Trade at the end of the 70s – or maybe like the fantastic work on the Fast Product compilation – and titles include "Mind", "Take Me Tonight", "In Need", "Electric"," Mezzo", "Crash", "Malena", and "Doctor Insane". Slow grinders and lots lots more – a sweet set of raunchy little numbers from the years in which teen pop and rock and roll were taking over the mainstream – but still left lots of space for the creation of nasty little singles like these! As with previous volumes, the music is a mix of jazz, R&B, early soul, and more – some tracks by familiar names, others by obscure artists who may have only cut the single track you'll hear on this set! AfriquaColored (colored vinyl pressing) ... LP
R&S, 2019. New Copy 2LP ... Just Sold Out!
Afriqua's got a continental reference in his name, but a sound that's very forward-thinking overall – music that's supposedly inspired by classics from Roy Ayers, Quincy Jones, and Weldon Irvine – but which sounds completely different than those inspirations! Instead, Afriqua's sound is almost a sci-fi reimagining of a new future in which the past has been pulled forward and completely transformed – almost as if someone took all the energy that 4Hero were going for 20 years back, then cut it up, slimmed it down, and put it back together – offering up a double-process reworking of old school elements. The cover bears elements of Chicago house party flyers, and even our fantastic WBMX radio station from back in the day – but the music is completely contemporary, and very distinct – with tracks that include "Noir", "Upstream", "Sociodelic", "Shout", "Dope", "Tema", "At Last", "Space Dookie", "Whatever Means", "Burns", "Native Sun", and "Zenith". Nicholas CarrasMr Peters' Pets (yellow vinyl pressing – with DVD) ... LP
Modern Harmonic/Something Weird, 1962. New Copy (reissue)... $20.99 24.99
A very cool soundtrack for a very weird movie – an early 60s nudie film, but one that's a fair bit tamer and sweeter than material from later in the decade! The focus here is on the music – which is surprisingly well-done, and mixes jazz with exotic currents – often with a lot more thoughtfulness than you might expect, at a level that puts some of the best tracks here right up there with the best early 60s Italian noir jazz classics. Nicholas Carras wrote and conducted – but there's a tenorist on the album that really makes the whole thing great, someone who can play with the depth of Plas Johnson at his best. Titles include the eleven-minute "A Happy Turtle" – plus "Jungle Duck", "Three Sporty Ladies", "Petey's Sweeties", "The Happy Animal", "Animal Ambrosia", and "My Little Shasta". Return To Analog (Canada), 1972. New Copy (reissue)... $18.99
Mighty funky mushrooms from the Canadian scene of the early 70s – a group who work with a jazzy sort of energy, but also know when to rock out as well – serving up this wonderful blend of saxes, organ, guitar, bass, and drums! The songs are mostly instrumental, and kind of poised between late beat group and early prog modes – usually with a great sort of groove going on at the bottom, almost soul jazz moving into fusion – and solos that get the job done, but all without ever getting too overindulgent! The group's a sextet, and are wonderfully sharp throughout – on titles that include "Folies Du Mercredi", "Pop Pino", "Le Ghetto Noir", "Dynamite", "Le Train", and "Le Chateau Hante". Ghostface Killah & Adrian YoungeTwelve Reasons To Die 2 ... LP
Linear Labs, 2015. New Copy ... $18.99 24.98
A superior sequel to Ghostface Killah & Adrian Younge's Twelve Reasons To Die saga – cementing the mid teens Ghostface creative resurgence in a major way – with some of the finest production work by Younge to date! It's a stunning reminder of how sharp Ghostface can be this late in the game when he's really feeling it, and he's a gracious host here, too – collaborating with Raekwon on the mic throughout the record, even featuring some moody narration by RZA – and seriously impressive guest appearances by Scarab, Lyrics Born, Chino XL and Bilal. There's a real mythology to the project, with a loose, but genuinely compelling narrative arc – combining prime Wu school crime noir rhymes and soundtrack funk production inspired by giallo, Blacksploitation and Younge's own distinct genius. Includes "Powerful One", "Daily News", "Return Of The Savage" with Raekwon & RZA, ,"Death's Invitation" with Scarab, Lyrics Born and Chino XL, "King Of New York", "Let The Record Spin" and "Blackout" with Raekwon, "Resurrection Morning" with Raekwon and Bilal and "Life's A Rebirth" with RZA. United Artists, 1975. Near Mint- ... $3.99
Farewell My Lovely is a great late Robert Mitchum film – kind of a 70s noir, featuring Mitchum as Philip Marlowe – and the music is kind of a reworking of an older style of dramatic crime soundtrack styles, with the additional of some more off-beat and edgey passages that create a more sinister feel. The score's actually got some nice jazz work by players that include Dick Nash, Don Menza, and Artie Kane – and features 12 titles that include "Mrs Grayle's Theme", "Amthor's Place", "Marlowe's Trip", "Three Mile Limited", and "Moose Finds His Velma". ViscountsHarlem Nocturne ... LP
Amy, Late 60s. Very Good+ ... $9.99
A classic little record from this 60s instrumental group – a set that probably got more play among the rock crowd than the jazz scene – but one we strongly associate with the latter, given the strength of the tenor solos! That instrument, featured in a sexy scene on the cover, gets plenty of heavy play here – blown in a soulful mode that recalls 50s work by artists like Sam "The Man" Taylor, Red Prysock, or Sil Austin – but set to a slight 60s vibe with some guitar-based instrumentation that rings out in almost a crime jazz mode – sometimes mixed with organ, recorded like a small instrumental combo – but with a echoey, late nite vibe that feels more like a noir soundtrack at all the best moments. In addition to the hit title reading of "Harlem Nocturne", other titles include "Dig", "Viscount Rock", "The Touch", and "Chug A Lug". LP, Vinyl record album

Victor/Ultra Vybe (Japan), 1960/1961. New Copy ... $22.99
Chilling work from Japanese composer Takeo Yamashita – a record that echoes with the shadows of night, blending sound effects, rough percussion, and some slight jazz instrumentation – into a sound that's a bit noir, a bit avant, and very very striking. The album works like one long sound collage – a brooding portrait of life at its darkest, filled with odd shapes and sounds, disembodied voices, and things that go bump in the night! Titles are all in Japanese, but you don't need any words to understand the record – as it's got a really unique vibe that's pure sonic beauty at its best – and a great testament to the more experimental years of the Japanese recording scene! Adrian Younge's a talent who never sleeps – a producer/musician who's always on to new projects and new records – including some surprisingly great soundtrack efforts in recent years! Here, Younge takes a bit of time to collaborate with four different lyricists – Georgia Anne Muldrow, Estelle, Gallant, and Black Thought – each of whom get their chance to shine in the vocal spotlight, while Adrian handles all the other instrumentation in the studio – with just a bit of help from the great Terrace Martin on keyboards, and Ali Shaheed Muhammad on acoustic piano and scratches. A tremendous collection of modern jazzy groups – featuring unreleased material by Schema Records legends Nicola Conte and Gerardo Frisina, plus some of the best bits from the European underground! The set does a great job of collecting "bubbling under" tracks that have been floating around on expensive singles for the past few years – really going for the best of the bunch, and getting past the weak "fake" jazz tracks that too often get in the way! The whole thing's got a true jazzy groove that's up there with the best we've ever heard from Schema – and it's a mad-riffing modal delight all the way through! ✨✧ Harlan EllisonPulling A Train – Violent Stories Of Naked Passions (paperback) ... Book
Norton/Kicks, 2012. New Copy ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Gritty prose from the legendary Harlan Ellison – a writer known best for his science fiction work, but who's represented here by some very early material that's plenty violent and salacious! The writing should be taken in the spirit of the title and cover – and Harlan himself does a great job of situating the work in his introduction to the book – telling the tale of the somewhat sleazy roots of this read, which is almost as titillating as the stories themselves! Yet despite the obvious apology for the schlock quality of the stories (some weren't even originally billed under Ellison's own name!) – there's a real force to the writing throughout – a youthful, powerful feel that bridges the gap between classic noir and underground exploitation – as you'll find in stories like "Sex Gang", "Jeannie With The Bedroom Eyes", "A Girl Named Poison", and "Both Ends Of The Candle". Some of the hippest sounds we've ever heard from Guadeloupe – served up by Erick Cosaque – a singer, percussionist, and key figure in the gwo-ka genre – yet an artist who works in a special space that's all his own! The tunes here definitely have the heavy percussion of gwo-ka, but they also bring in plenty of elements of funk and soul – the latter from Erick's amazing vocal style, which has this really deep flow that's wrapped around a set of French and Creole lyrics, but which has amazing power even if you can't understand the language! There's lots of great elements on keyboards and electric bass, which further helps underscore the funkier part of the music – and the whole thing is the kind of wonderful blend we've always loved from the criss-crossing of cultures in Guadeloupe, but also in a mode that's head and shoulders above most of the rest. Mercury (France), Late 60s/1970s/1980s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Incredible stuff – a mind-blowing collection of work by Manu Dibango that offers some real gems that go way way past the hits! The package is divided up into different periods of Manu's career – his early recordings in France with Nino Ferrer, his Soul Makossa years, his time in the Ivory Coast, Jamaica, and his revival at the end of the 80s. The real treat is the work with Ferrer – highlighted here in 7 recordings from 1967 to 1969, some of Dibango's earliest tunes – cut in a go-go funky soul mode that's really really great. Other sides are excellent too – with a few big hits mixed in with other numbers we missed – making for a wonderful 15 track sampler that shows that Dibango always stayed strong, no matter what the setting. Afro beats, funky sax, and lots of heavy bass all over the place – and a track list that includes "Wakafrica", "Dikalo", "Soul Machine", "Je Veux Etre Noir", "Hot Chicken", "Sunday Morning", "From Congo", "Wouri", "Senga Abele", "Choc N Soul", "Soul Makossa", "Big Blow", "Duala Serenade", and "Goro City". Funky house from the Italian scene of the early 90s – a real hotbed of musical energy, thanks to a thriving club scene that kept on going well past the big disco years in the US! In fact, at some level disco never really died in Italy – and kept on transforming during the 80s – to the point where these 90s tracks provide this great blend of the sharper sounds of early house rhythms, mixed with warmer soul touches that really set the music apart. Boy, that cover alone is more than enough to draw us in – a frizzy-headed guy sitting amidst a whole host of 70s studio gear – but we've also always loved the music of Francois Bayle, which has always been some of the most striking in the French electronic tradition! The work here is all previously unreleased – and side one features a host of spare, stark tracks that has Bayle working with a portable set of 70s electronics – with a feel that's more intimate than the scope of the image on the cover might make you expect – as Bayle creates all these weird and wonderful cycles of sound on the album's short tracks. Titles include "Ennemi Intime", "Voltage Stomp", "Quadrille", "Crepuscule", "Train Noir", and "La Chose". The debut album from Uruguayan singer Diane Denoir – served up with heavy help from Eduardo Mateo of the legendary group El Kinto! Like Mateo's work, the music here is a bit beyond easy comparison – in a rock or pop structure, but with lots of deeper ideas too – a bit like the changes in the post-1968 underground in Paris, where more sophisticated styles of songwriting and arrangement really led the way past simpler pop of the previous decades. Mateo handles some of the arrangements – with Gustavo Beytelmann and Alberto Nunez Palacio too – and the music is full of beautiful elements that resonate strongly with the voice, in complex genre-stepping modes that bridge a space between late 60s A&M and Island Records. A really great collection of Chess Records work by JB Lenoir – one of the more unusual singers on the Chicago scene at the time – and one with a sound that's pretty darn great all the way through! Lenoir's tone is a pitch or two up from most of his contemporaries – not as gritty and deep, and with inflections that almost point the way towards soul singers in the generation to come. Yet the backings are definitely in the best Windy City modes of the time – as Lenoir plays some great electric guitar, alongside Alex Atkins on alto, Ernest Cotton on tenor, Joe Montgomery on piano, and Willie Dixon on bass. The set mixes vintage singles with a few unreleased tracks – and titles include "Natural Man", "Don't Dog Your Woman", "Don't Touch My Head", "Five Years", "Mama What About Your Daughter", "Korea Blues", "Let Me Die With The One I Love", "I'm In Korea", and "Carrie Lee". La Comtesse Noire has music that moves slowly, but with a nicely slinky vibe – and a fair bit of wordless female vocals that are maybe in an Edda Dell'Orso style, but also have some warmer currents too – almost jazzy at times, echoed by some jazzy paino work on one track – which makes a very surprising sound for a movie like this! Vintage work from Marius Cultier – a singer with roots in the Antilles, but who found a very welcome audience in the French Canadian scene – where he recorded this great little groover at the start of the 70s! Marius has this rich vocal style that's often best set up next to rhythms that move quickly with some inspiration from his roots, but which also borrow bits of modern jazz and soul too – the latter especially on the album's few instrumental moments, which seem to have Marius soloing on piano and organ! Yet it's his voice that's the real treat – slightly raspy, and with a compelling approach to the French language lyrics of the tunes – on titles that include "Adieu Foulard", "Mister Joy", "Panama/Haiti", "Sylvie", "Je Veux De Toi", "Les Ailes D'Un Oiseau", and "Les Anges Noirs". LP, Vinyl record album

Dizzy Gillespie/Django ReinhardtJazz From Paris ... LP
Verve, Early 50s. Very Good+ ... $18.99
Some obscure work – and nice! We really dig side one of this LP – as it's got Diz in one of his rare "with strings" sessions, recorded here with backings by the Paris Opera-Comique Orchestra, on tunes that include "Night & Day", "The Man I Love", "My Old Flame", and "I Waited For You". Diz's work in this respect is very similar to Charlie Parker's – with lots of moody overtones, and broad washes of dark tone and emotion. Django's work is from his last recording date ever – with accompaniment by Maurice Vander, Pierre Michelot, and Jean-Louis Vialle, on tunes that include "Insensibilement", "Nuages", "Night & Day", and "Manoir De Mes Reves". Gigi Gryce/Art FarmerBebop In Paris Vol 2 ... CD
Vogue/BMG (France), 1953. Used ... $18.99
50s modern jazz at its best – served up in a set of rare 1953 recordings by a young Art Farmer and Gigi Gryce! The tracks on the set easily rival the greatness of both Farmer and Gryce's key sides for Prestige during the period – recorded with a freshness that still holds up strongly even 50 years later, and which represents some of the best larger group work of the post-swing generation! Quincy Jones had a hand in some of the work, as he, Gryce, and Farmer were all playing together with Lionel Hampton at the time – and the tunes on the set have a style that's as swingingly soulful as it is modern. 7 of the tracks were recorded under the name of the Gigi Gryce Orchestra, and 3 others under Art Farmer's New Jazz Stars – but the work has a very unified feel, with shared players that include Jimmy Cleveland, Anthony Ortega, Clifford Solomon, Henri Renaud, and Quincy Jones. Titles include "Serenade To Sonny", "Evening In Paris", "Purple Shades", "Paris The Beautiful", "La Rose Noire", "Anne Marie", and "Strike Up The Band". CD features a few alternate takes. CD

Pierre HenryPolyphonies (12CD set) ... CD
Universal, New Copy 12CD ... $64.99 99.99
A fittingly massive collection of works by one of the most important electronic composers ever! The 12CD Polyphonies features material chosen and remastered by Henry himself specifically for this box set in the months before he passed away, so he's pretty well in charge of his legacy here. It's made up of compositions from as early as 1950 and as late as 2016, brilliantly showing how vital Henry was throughout the decades – with 9 of the 29 pieces previously unreleased – and includes "Chroniques Terriennes" (2016), "Etudes Transcendantes Pour Un Piano Imaginaire" (2015), "Grande Toccata" (2006), "Gymkhana" (1970), "Pleins Jeux" (2008), "Kyldex" (1973), "Une Tour De Babel" (1988)"La Reine Verte", Rock Electronique" (1963), "Histoire Naturelle" (1997), "Facies" (1960), "Le Livre Des Morts Egyptien" (1988), "Fragments Pour Artaud" (1970), "La Noire A Soixante" (1961), "Deuxieme Symphonie" (1972), "Spatiodynamisme" (1953), "Concerto Des Ambiguites" (1950) and more. Verve, 1960. Very Good+ ... $4.99
Great large group material from Gerry Mulligan – and a record that definitely defines the sound of his famous Concert Jazz Band of the early 60s! The group features a four part sax section – headed by Mulligan, with other players that include Zoot Sims on tenor, Gene Allen on baritone, Gene Quill on alto, and Dick Meldonian on alto – and the set also features work by Nick Travis and Conte Candoli on trumpets, and Bob Brookmeyer on valve trombone and trombone – shading in some nice colors to the group's tone-heavy approach! Titles include "Out Of This World", "Sweet & Slow", "Bweebida Bobbida", and "Manoir Des Mes Reves". LP, Vinyl record album

Gary Numan's looking mighty noirish on the cover – and the record continues that fantastic run of dark-edged electro pop that made the man one of the most important song stylists of his generation! A few tracks here are maybe more tuneful than before – with some surprisingly bright moments – but overall, the Numan vibe is still very much in place – and those trademark vocals are completely wonderful. Titles include "White Boys & Heroes", "This Is My House", "The 1930s Rust", "We Take Mystery To Bed", "War Songs", "Music For Chameleons", and "I Assassin". LP, Vinyl record album

Jean Claude VannierL'Enfant Assassin Des Mouches (UK pressing) ... LP
Finders Keepers (UK), 1972. New Copy Gatefold ... $22.99
A baroque instrumental masterpiece from Jean Claude Vannier – Serge Gainsbourg's right hand man at the start of the 70s, and a key figure in the legendary Histoire De Melody Nelson album! The feel here is very much along the lines of work that Serge was doing at the time – larger orchestrations mixed with smaller instrumentation – in a level that's often funky, always baroque, and very much in the best Sexopolis styles of the French pop scene of the time! There's a marked similarity here to some of the work of Michel Colombier – but unlike Colombier, and Gainsbourg, there's no vocals at all on these tracks – and the main genius is carried by Vannier's incredibly arranged strings, rolling rhythms, fuzzy guitars, and dark little soundtrack-styled groove! Some tracks are wonderfully funky, others are moody and tripped-out – and the whole thing's a masterpiece that we'd file right up there with our favorite French work of the time! Titles include "L'Enfanta La Mouche Et Les Allumettes", "Danse Des Mouches Noires Gardes Du Roi", "Mort Du Roi Des Mouches", "Le Papier Tue-Enfant", "Les Garde Volent Au Secours Du Roi", and "Petite Agonie De L'Enfant Assassin". ✨✧ James CarterJames Carter Organ Trio – Live From Newport Jazz ... CD
Blue Note, 2019. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A fantastic little album from tenorist James Carter – every bit as soulful as ever, and maybe even a bit funky too! The approach is wonderful – a bold trio with lots of Hammond from Gerald Gibbs and heavy drums from Alexander White – oddly tuned to songs from the book of Django Reinhardt, but done in a way that's completely different overall! There's not a trace of gypsy swing in the mix – and with no guitar in the group, there's no real Django element at all – just long, tight, funky grooves served up by a really great trio – with Carter blowing strongly, and with a heck of an edge! Titles include "Le Manoir De Mes Reves", "Melodie Au Crepuscule", "Anouman", "La Valse Des Niglos", "Pour Que Ma Vie Demeure" and "Fleche D'Or". CD

The second LP from this enigmatic UK soul diva. The album, like her first, has a tightly produced sample-driven funk groove, with lots of warm keyboard touches that work well with Jhelisa's shimmering vocals. There's definitely a bit more spaciness to the production style here, but it works nicely to complicate the groove a bit, and keep this one from being just another UK soul/sample rehash. Titles include "Sell Me Away", "Bete Noire", "Sending You A Message", "Everybody Jump Off", and "Feelings Of Love". CD

Yep Roc, 2019. New Copy 2LP ... Out Of Stock
The most legendary Flesh Eaters line-up – Chris D, Dave Alvin, John Doe, Bill Bateman, Steve Berlin, and DJ Bonebrake – back with a full scale reunion for the first time in decades! Now as much as ever, The Flesh Eaters are a vessel for Chris D's smart and serious lit quality punk poetry, with macabre lyrical themes that give it a dark, distinctive edge. And what a vessel he has with these seasoned genre-defying legends from X, Los Lobos and The Blasters, all seemingly invigorated here, especially Alvin – who must love putting aside the rootsier vibe of his solo work and The Blasters once in a while – and Berlin and Bonebrake on bringing in some cool noirish R&B sax, marimba & percussion. Titles include "Black Temptation", "House Amid The Thickets", "She's Like Heroin To Me", "Miss Muerte", "Cinderella" and lots more. It gets better the deeper into the tracklist you go, too...these guys learned thing or 2 about pacing over the years! LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Django ReinhardtSwing It Lightly (aka Django Reinhardt Joue Avec Les Guitars Unlimited) ... LP
Barclay/Columbia, 1968. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
A weird and wonderful chapter in the career of Django Reinhardt – a posthumous album that has his solo guitar parts taken from older Barclay albums, then reworked with added 60s sounds from Guitars Unlimited! The approach is totally great – an all-guitar groove that has the newer combo adding in rhythm and melody bits with their own electric work – all augmenting Django's originals in ways that are surprisingly wonderful, and which really retain the bristling excitement of the classics. Titles include "Nuages", "Gypsy With A Song", "Insensiblement", "Brazil", "Manoir De Mes Reves", and "Confessin". LP, Vinyl record album
