Sarathy KorwarSarathy Korwar & Upaj Collective ... LP
Night Dreamer (UK), 2021. New Copy 2LP ... $33.99 36.99
Drummer Sarathy Korwar has a great reputation for blending together Indian music and contemporary jazz – and in ways that are very different than similar British experiments from the late 60s! That legacy is moved forward a few strong notches here – as Korwar works with his Upaj Collective on a set of really long, beautifully-recorded tracks that let the whole group really open up and do their thing – on long tracks with a lot of modal energy in the rhythms, and plenty of space for extended solos over the top! Sarathy made sure that he whole group was on the same spiritual footing before the session – and you can really hear that play out here, between players who include Tamar Osborn on tenor, Giuliano Modarelli on guitar, Alistair MacSween on keyboards, and Achuthan Sripathamanathan on violin. Titles include "Elephant Hangover", "Intimate Enemy", "So Said Said", and "Flight IC 408". Also features the bonus "So Said Said (Yoruba Soul mix)". LP, Vinyl record album

MogollarAnatolian Sun Part 1 ... LP
Night Dreamer (UK), 2021. New Copy ... $27.99 29.99
Mogollar are a legendary group in Turkish music – formed in the 60s, with a mission to explore psychedelic impulses amidst more traditional instrumentation – and all these many years later, the combo is still going strong, and with a sound that still beats most of the groups they inspired over the years! This set features material recently recorded in Haarlem, but there's a vibe here that's very much like the best Arabesk rock experiments from the Turkish scene of the 70s – with familiar guitar, keyboards, bass, and drums mixed with a range of sounds from a bowed tanbur, long-necked bagalama, cura, Iklig, darbuke, and bendir. As with all Night Dreamer sessions, the performance was recorded live in the studio – and titles on this volume include "Dum Tek", "Dinleyiverin Gari", "Gel Gel", "Gam Yuku/Nilufer", and "Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalim". LP, Vinyl record album
Also available Anatolian Sun Part 2 ... LP 27.99

✨✧ Baba ZulaHayvan Gibi ... LP
Night Dreamer (UK), 2021. New Copy 2LP ... Out Of Stock
Very cool sounds from Baba Zula – a group who really keep the Turkish psychedelic sound strong well into the 21st Century – by working here on long, extended tracks that blend electric elements with plenty of earthy acoustic touches! The group is led by Osman Murat Ertel on electric saz – an instrument that he plays with the touches of a psychedelic guitar, but with a more open, fluid style overall – amidst other instrumentation that includes a fair bit of percussion, darbuka, davul, electronics, and even an electric oud! There's a bit of vocals on the record, but the main focus is on the long-spun instrumental passages – which stretch out nicely on tunes that include "Kucuk Kurbaga", "4 Nal", "Kelebekler Kuslar", "Tafus Havasi", "Col Aslanari", and "Sipa". Sonny StittMake Someone Happy ... LP
Roulette, Mid 60s. Very Good+ ... $13.99
Stitt's on the Varitone here – blowing away on a mellow set of late night tracks that features some great original compositions! Sure, the groove is perhaps a bit sleepier than some of his other sides of the time, but Sonny always does well in this sort of late nite mode – and the arrangements give him plenty of room to solo over the top. Titles include "Afro Serenade", "I Don't Care If You Do", "Lovin Mood", "Night Of Surrender", "Dreamer", and "Gotta See My Baby". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has a sticker remnant, a cutout notch, split seams held with tape, and some surface wear.)

Easy WilliamsEasy Does It ... LP
Dot, 1957. Sealed ... $59.99
We have to admit, we don't know Easy Williams at all – but with a name like that, we're willing to try! More seriously, though, the album's a great one – a cool little small combo vocal session, recorded with a group that includes vibes, guitar, and flute – backing Easy up like some late night club session, with a very intimate feel! The song choices are nice, too – lesser-known tracks that move past the usual chestnuts and standards – tunes that include "Where There's Smoke There's Fire", "I'm A Dreamer Aren't We All", "A Woman Needs So Little", "The Whistler On The Bayou", "Judy", and "You're Not The Kind". LP, Vinyl record album
(Mono pressing, still sealed! Shrinkwrap is cracked a bit at the top seam. Cover is lightly bent at the top right corner.)

✨✧ Sylvia TellesSylvia Telles Sings The Wonderful Songs Of Antonio Carlos Jobim (Japanese paper sleeve edition) ... CD
Kapp/Victor (Japan), 1965. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A beautiful album of mellow bossa tracks sung by Sylvia Telles – recorded in Rio, but issued (and reissued) here in a US version on Kapp records. The album was one of the few that Sylvia ever issued in the US, and it features a beautiful batch of Jobim tracks, done in a shimmering style that works perfectly with Sylvia's emotional voice. She'd cut earlier albums of Jobim's work (this is her 7th overall LP), so she's well accquainted with the material – as you'll hear on tracks like "Bonita", "One Note Samba", "Roses & Roses", "Quiet Nights", "Dindi", and "Dreamer". CD
(Out of print. Includes obi – and still sealed!)

✨✧ Pete RockReturn Of The SP1200 ... LP
TruSoul, Early 90s/2019. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Early Pete Rock beats from the 90s golden age – beginning with the dawn of that decade when Pete was at the forefront the era's pioneering production heavies ushering in a new era in hip hop, to closer to the end of the decade and his solo debut Soul Survivor. It's a testament to his production pedigree that each one of these instrumentals wouldn't sounded right on point on any of the NY hip hop classics of the era, yet these remained unreleased til now. Includes scratches by J Rocc of the Beat Junkies, and titles include "Dreamer", "Harps Of Heaven", "Round Midnight", "Hole The World Doesn't Stop (Before I Get Mines)", "Gutta Music", "Kool Jazz", "Below 0", "A Khamlimba Story", "Food 4 Thought" and more.
