Alton MillerNext Generation Vol 1 ... 12-inch
Music Institute, 2019. New Copy ... $9.99
A timeless trio of dancefloor stunners from house legend Alton Miller! "Inner 5" is light and compelling at the seam time, the beats busy not pounding too hear, the jazzy keyboards floating throughout, the jazz funk synth coming in a little bit thicker on "Inner 7". "Inner 8" fills out the other side with a little bit heavier a bounce to the beat. 12-inch, Vinyl record

Thurston MooreSonic Street Chicago ... CD
Corbett vs. Dempsey, 2013. New Copy Gatefold ... $11.99 12.99
A pretty great solo performance from the legendary Thurston Moore – recorded at the Art Institute Of Chicago, as live accompaniment to the film Street, by James Nares – and maybe some of the most compelling sounds we've heard from Moore in awhile! The set features just solo electric guitar, in one long track – improvising over the space of an hour, with an especially great ear for sonic textures and very subtle shapes – a gentler, more personal version of the noise in which Thurston has been steeped for many many years – and music that's every bit as beautiful as the images on the screen! Jeff ResnickSAC ... LP
RIT/Outernational (UK), 1977. New Copy (reissue)... $20.99
A totally wonderful little record, and one with a very unlikely origin story too – given that the music was originally composed to highlight the different creative departments at the Rochester Institute Of Technology in the late 70s! The music is all jazz on side one – done in this warmly groovy way that reminds us a lot of our favorite Australian jazz of the time – very illuminating, with a vivid sense of image within the music – but never in a way that's forced, stiff, or held to any sort of rigid structure. The group on that side features producer Jeff Resnick on keyboards, plus great trumpet from a young Jeff Tyzik, piano from Sonny Kompanek, and tenor and flute from Ramon Ricker. Side two is a bit more electric – with a mix of different keyboards from Resnick, who also dubs over some soprano and alto recorders, and makes a bit of space for some especially lovely work on flute and saxes from Dick Griffo – all with a style that echoes side one, but with more emphasis on keyboards. The whole thing's pretty darn great – with a sound that's even more vivid than its lost history! LP, Vinyl record album
