Monday MichiruJazz Brat (Japanese pressing) ... CD
Kitty (Japan), 1995. Used ... $9.99
The breakthrough LP that brought Monday Michiru out of Japan, and exposed her work to a new worldwide audience! The record (like so many of her others) features performances by a great array of cool guests, including Cleveland Watkiss, DJ Krush, and Simon Richmond of Palm Skin Productions. The production's very tight, and is a stellar example of the way that Monday mixes jazz funk, soul, and abstract influences into a tight modern soul sound. Loads of great tracks, including "Sunshine After the Rain", "Hold On", "Rainy Daze", "Scat Attack", and "Givin' It". And if our raving comments are not enough, whenever we play this one on the radio in Chicago, we get a massive massive response! CD

✨✧ Monday MichiruDouble Image (Japanese pressing) ... CD
Polygram (Japan), 1998. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
One of the best recent albums by Japan's hippest singer! Monday Michiru arranged and produced most of this release – although she has help from famous guest stars (as usual), like DJ Krush, Mondo Grosso, Byron Wallen, The Angel, and others. The vibe's slightly more abstract than her typical soul jazz sound, with bits of junglist rhythms, and other modern touches. Underneath it all, though, are Monday's usual strong vocals and tight songwriting, proving once again that she's one of the few artists working in the 21st Century Soul genre who can take things over the top to a whole new audience. Cuts include "Reflexions", "You Make Me", "Island Of The Saints", "Method 2 The Madness", "Double Image", and "Scheme Of Things". CD

Polydor (Japan), 1999. Used 2LP Gatefold ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Nice work from our favorite Japanese soul star – a tight batch of remixes, filled with guest appearances by the likes of Incognito, Basement Jaxx, Shinichi Osawa, Soul Society, Rob Playford, and others – all packaged in an extremely captivating cover with great graphics! Titles include "You Make Me (Shin Shin's Mix)", "Yellow Bird (Incognito Flyin High Mix)", "Cruel 2 Be Kind (Basement Jaxx Nite Dub)", "Double Image (Live At Manic One Remix)", "Love Flow (Mango Margarita Mix)", and "Freed Or Bound (Reconsideration Mix)". Very nice stuff, with more focus on the dancefloor side of Monday's work, than the pop-hook sort of side. A mixture of jazzy bits, jungley bits, and lots more! Packaged in a stunning heavy cover with a beautiful look to it! LP, Vinyl record album

Steal Vybe, 2018. New Copy 2LP ... About October 26, 2018 (delayed)
Fast funky sounds from the Steal Vybe duo of Chris Forman and Damon "Mr Dizzy Fingers" Bennett – and a record that's overflowing with great guest help – from a lineup that includes Omar, Peven Everett, Kenny Bobien, Fertile Ground, Sara Devine, Ursula Rucker, Trizonna McClendon, and even Monday Michiru! The whole thing almost feels more like an extended mix of sorts – clubby cuts that vary in pace, but have this warm glow all the way through – uplifting, positive, and definitely a real cut above. Titles include "Music Makes Me High", "Fill The Skyy", "Deja Vu", "Distant", "Harvest Moon", "I Found Inside", "As Long As We Believe", "Sanctuary", "Take It Slow", and "I Know You I Live You".
