✨✧ BeatlesAbbey Road (Original Master Recording) ... LP
Mobile Fidelity/Capitol, 1969. Near Mint- ... Just Sold Out!
Pure brilliance from start to finish – especially the second side of the record, which has a continuous run of tunes that's very unique – and still completely sublime all these many years later! The album shows the fracturing ideas of the group, but crafted together with a unity you won't find on The White Album or Let It Be – still a way of making it all gel together beautifully, as the fab four stretch their wings to find new ways of being. Added instrumentation is used wonderfully – never overdone, but with orchestral passages that can really hammer home the best musical moments – and titles include "I Want You", "Because", "You Never Give Me Your Money", "Golden Slumbers", "The End", "Her Majesty", "Polythene Pam", and "Sun King". LP, Vinyl record album
(Original 80s pressing, with heavy inner sleeve – a great copy.)

BeatlesBeatles – The White Album (Original Master Recording) ... LP
Capitol/Mobile Fidelity, 1968. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold ... $149.99
The Beatles at their late best – on 1968's self-titled set – now immortalized as The White Album! The White Album capped offed a period of intense creativity for the band with a double that's as freewheeling as anything they'd ever release. It's got raw rockers with wry lyricism, tender acoustic balladry, psych blues jams and some flat out weird bits. As was always the case, John's and Paul's songs cover the majority of the sides, but The White Album also features what's arguably George's most vital moment as a Beatle with "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". Other tracks include "Back In The USSR", "Dear Prudence","Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da", "Happiness Is A Warm Gun", "Martha My Dear", "Rocky Raccoon", "Why Don't We Do It In The Road", "Julia", "Yer Blues", "Sexy Sadie", "Helter Skelter", "Revolution 1", "Good Night" and more. LP, Vinyl record album
(Original 80s pressing, with inserts. Cover has some ringwear and discoloration from age.)

Apple/Mobile Fidelity, 1968. Used 2CD ... $14.99
Sure it's a soundtrack, and sure it's got a number of songs that are just instrumentals from the film – but the record also features some excellent late Beatles tracks that can only be found here – including the killer tracks "Hey Bulldog" (almost a funky nugget), "Only A Northern Song", and "All Together Now". Also includes "Yellow Submarine" (natch) – plus "It's All Too Much" and "All You Need Is Love" – and side two features a number of groovy instrumentals from George Martin – including "Pepperland", "Sea Of Holes", "March Of The Meanies", and "Pepperland Laid Waste". Miles DavisSomeday My Prince Will Come (Original Master Recording) ... LP
Columbia/Mobile Fidelity, 1961. Sealed ... $109.99 129.99
The tenor sax here makes the album a standout – as John Coltrane still works with Miles Davis on 2 tracks for the record, but Blue Note stalwart Hank Mobley joins in on the rest! The approach is similar to that of the classic Coltrane/Davis years – and in a way, the record's kind of a swan song to that period – one of the last studio session that Miles would cut in such an unabashedly sweet and lyrical way. And while Mobley's always better known for his harder-blown notes at Blue Note, he sounds totally great here next to Davis – really keeping up the gentle spirit and spaciousness of the record, and working with a gentleness that surpasses even his work on the legendary Soul Station album. Rhythm is by the trio of Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers, and Jimmy Cobb – and titles include Miles' classic version of "Someday My Prince Will Come", plus "Old Folks", "Teo", "Drad-Dog", and "Pfrancing". Jefferson AirplaneVolunteers (original master recording – SACD pressing) ... CD
RCA/Mobile Fidelity, 1969. Used Gatefold ... $29.99
Seminal late 60s work from Jefferson Airplane – done with an all-star roster of fellow counterculture heroes and late 60s icons in the studio – including David Crosby, Jerry Garcia, Steven Stills, and Nicky Hopkins! The whole thing is an incredible mix of breezy harmonies and killer melodies, but tuned to more political lyrics – a brilliant approach – full of disarmingly tuneful, yet lyrically defiant songs. Amazing stuff – and a heck of a way to cap off the 60s for this legendary band. Titles include "Wooden Ships", "Eskimo Blue Day", "We Can Be Together", "A Song For All Seasons", and "Volunteers". CD
(Limited and numbered hybrid SACD pressing – in a nice gatefold sleeve!)

Earl KlughFinger Paintings (Original Master Recording) ... LP
Mobile Fidelity/Blue Note, 1977. Very Good+ ... $13.99
A real breakout album for Earl Klugh – the kind of record that got him on the a-list of fusion players for the rest of the 70s! The title here is especially well-chosen – as the tunes have a gently colorful feel that's never too slick, despite the tighter setting of the album – with light arrangements by Dave Grusin that still leave Earl plenty of space to work his subtle magic on the strings of the guitar. Titles include "Keep Your Eye On The Sparrow", "Summer Song", "Dance With Me", "Dr Macumba", "Long Ago & Far Away", and "Cabo Frio". LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes the insert. Cover has some surface and edge wear, with a name in marker in back. Labels have some smudges.)

Gram ParsonsGP ... CD
Warner/Mobile Fidelity, 1972. Used Gatefold ... $49.99
The seminal Gram Parsons solo debut, and arguably his most consistant post-Burritos album. GP is pretty much the record that put the country in country rock – with a sharp steel guitar cry throughout, an unpretentious proud/poor delivery, and those sweet harmonies with Emmylou Harris. The album is split pretty evenly between tunes penned by Parsons, and other writers who aren't as deeply celebrated, like the great Tompall Glaser. Includes "Still Feeling Blue", "We'll Sweep Out The Ashes In The Morning", "Streets Of Baltimore", "She", "That's All It Took", "Cry One More Time", and more. CD

✨✧ Gram ParsonsGrievous Angel (Original Master Recording) ... CD
Reprise/Mobile Fidelity, 1974. Used Gatefold ... Just Sold Out!
One of the most beloved country rock albums of all time! Grievous Angel is likely to have cemented Gram's legacy even if he didn't pass away before it's release – it's really that good – mixing mournful honk tonk laments, bleary-eyed barroom rockers and soul searching lyricism in a way that was pretty damn distinctive in the 70s. It's bookended by the (arguably) 2 greatest songs he ever wrote, "Return Of The Grievous Angel" and "In My Hour Of Darkness", plus "Love Hurt"", "Brass Buttons", "$1000 Wedding", a rockin' cover of Tom T Hall's "I Can't Dance" and "Hickory Wind". And for all the praise we just heaped on Gram Parsons in the preceding sentences, there's no discounting the importance of co-singer and ""In My Hour Of Darkness" co-writer Emmylou Harris, who's like the beautifully voiced angel on Gram's shoulder. ✨✧ SantanaSantana III (Original Master Recording) ... CD
Columbia/Mobile Fidelity, 1971. Used Gatefold ... Just Sold Out!
One of the most searing, soaring albums ever from Santana – a set that takes all the power of the previous two records, and packs it into one tight little set! There's plenty of Latin influences going on – mixed with heavy fuzz from Carlos, and lots of jazz and funky touches too – way more happening on the rhythm tip than most of Santana's contemporaries – which is why the record continues to find such a wonderfully wide audience over the years. Drop cuts like "Batuka","Toussaint L'Overture", "Jungle Strut", or "Para Los Rumberos" next to tracks by War, Mandrill or Tower Of Power and you'll see what we mean – and titles also include "No One To Depend On","Taboo", "Guajira" and "Everything's Coming Our Way". Don SebeskyThree Works For Jazz Soloists & Symphony Orchestra (Birds & Bella In B Flat/Rite Of Spring/Sebastian's Theme) (Original Master Recording) ... LP
Mobile Fidelity/Gryphon, 1979. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold ... $11.99 16.99
A serious later session from Don Sebesky – one that shows that he's still capable of plenty of darkness in his music, even after scoring some smoother sets in the 70s! The album's definitely got something of a "jazz orchestra" feel – with a full orchestra that initiates the proceedings, and sets the scene with a low-toned, rumbling sort of style – before the album then opens up into some much more jazz solo-based work that has a much more redemptive feel! Players include Alex Foster on tenor, Jon Faddis on trumpet, Gordon Beck on piano, Richard Davis on guitar, and Joe Beck on guitar – all of whom get some nice space to state their cases as the album rolls on – on three long tracks that include "Bird & Bela In B", "Rite Of Spring", and "Sebastian's Tune". Frank SinatraSinatra's Swingin Session (original master recording) ... CD
Capitol/Mobile Fidelity, 1960. Used Gatefold ... $38.99
A Swingin Session indeed – as Frank steps out with Nelson Riddle on one of his last great albums for Capitol! The record's got the bounce and lilt of Frank's earlier gems with Riddle – a sly mix of jazz and strings that's every bit the best fit for Blue Eyes' vocals at the end of the 50s as it was back when he and Riddle cooked up the comeback sound earlier in the decade – and as before, although the tunes are mostly familiar, they're spun out by Frank as if they're his own – phrased beautifully, punched up nicely, and swung in just the right way to fit the spirit of the session! Titles include "I Concentrate On You", "Blue Moon", "When You're Smiling", "It's Only A Paper Moon", "Always", and "September In The Rain". CD

✨✧ Frank SinatraWhere Are You? (Original Master Recording) ... CD
Capitol/Mobile Fidelity, 1957. Used Gatefold ... Just Sold Out!
A sad little album that has Frank still in the throes of the emotional loss expressed on The Wee Small Hours album – working here with Gordon Jenkins arrangements that use a fair bit of strings to well up the darkness that lurks in the songs on the set. The album kicks off with the sublime "Where Are You?", one of the greatest songs of loss we could ever recommend – and then moves into some incredible readings of standards like "Where Is The One", "I'm A Fool To Want You", "I Cover the Waterfront", "Laura", and "Lonely Town" – all done in a style that's emotive, yet never overwrought, perfect sad Sinatra all the way! ✨✧ Steely DanAja (Original Master Recording) ... LP
Mobile Fidelity/ABC, 1977. Very Good+ Gatefold ... $129.99
An undisputed masterpiece, and a record we never tire of hearing – unabashedly the inspiration for our years of jazzy exploration as adults, even though it was probably the closest thing we ever got to the genre as wee lads! Walter Becker & Donald Fagan raise their already-high bar to new heights here – creating one of those rare records that flows together so beautifully, it's hard to remember where some songs begin and others end. There's a sense of perfection in everything about the record – the sound, the songs, the instrumentation – all woven together beautifully without any sense of self-consciousness. One majestic flow that starts with "Black Cow", and runs through classics that include "Aja", "Deacon Blue", "Peg", "Home At Last", "I Got The News", and "Josie". LP, Vinyl record album

SupersaxPlays Bird (Original Master Recording) ... LP
Capitol/Mobile Fidelity, 1973. Near Mint- ... $6.99 18.99
A completely fresh take on the Charlie Parker aesthetic of the bop generation – updated for the 70s, but in ways that are still pretty classic overall! The group's a large one, but plays with a tightness that goes way past their gimmicky name – thanks to players who include Med Flory and Joe Lopes on alto, Warne Marsh and Jay Migliori on tenor, Jack Nimitz on baritone, and Conte Candoli on trumpet – all of whom get in some great licks! Tunes are all short bop classics, played with very tight head arrangements, and some searing breakout solos. Titles include "Ko Ko", "Be Bop", "Repetition", "Night In Tunisia", "Hot House", "Star Eyes", and "Parker's Mood". LP, Vinyl record album

SupertrampCrime Of The Century (Original Master Recording) ... LP
A&M/Mobile Fidelity, 1974. Near Mint- ... $69.99
Pure mainstream 70s pop genius, the most fully-formed of all early Supertramp albums – and a record that's filled with a surprising amount of great Fender Rhodes moments too! The set's a masterpiece from start to finish – filled with themes of loss and loneliness, but served up by the group with an incredibly redemptive sense of majesty and power – really fresh for the time, and still wonderful all these many years later – despite the fact that so many of these songs have gone onto become classics. The keyboards on the set work perfectly with the oddly-timed rhythms of the tunes – and there's a great blend here between high concept and straight ahead pop – on titles that include "School", "Bloody Well Right", "Asylum", "Dreamer", "Rudy", and "Crime Of The Century". ✨✧ Wes MontgomeryBumpin' (Original Master Recording) ... LP
Verve/Mobile Fidelity, 1965. Near Mint- ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
An incredible album from Wes Montgomery – and the beginning of a whole new sound for his guitar! Wes moves away from his small combo soul jazz roots on the set – and hits a wonderfully sweet new vibe with larger arrangements from Don Sebesky – bigger backdrops that fill in the space between the notes wonderfully, yet still leave plenty of space for Montgomery to really open up and do his thing! Sebesky's got a perfect sense of timing on the record – and many tunes have a subtle sort of groove – one that pushes Wes' solos beautifully, and has them open up in chromatic tones that are simply mindblowing. This is the start of Montgomery's really classic years in the 60s jazz mainstream – and titles include the classic "Bumpin", plus "Mi Cosa", "Musty", "Con Alma", and "Tear It Down". ✨✧ Miles DavisKind Of Blue (Original Master Recording) ... CD
Sony/Mobile Fidelity, 1959. Used Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
What can we say? This is the ultimate Miles Davis album – the one that includes so many songs that we've heard way too much in Starbucks, in retail stores, or at a friend's house who claims to be a "jazz expert", but is really a yuppie dilettante. Yet somehow, over all the years, and all those playings, the record manages to still sound fantastic – a truly inspirational piece of music that's long deserved all the attention it gets! The legendary group on the album includes John Coltrane on tenor, Cannonball Adderley on alto, Bill Evans on piano, and Paul Chambers on bass – working with Miles in a relatively modal style, with brilliant rhythm changes and a wonderful sense of space. The whole thing's sublime – and titles include "Blue In Green", "All Blues", "So What", and "Freddie Freeloader". Features an alternate take of "Flamenco Sketches". CD
