✨✧ Maulawi/Fito FosterStreet Rap (DJ Amir & Re.decay jazz reconstructed rmx)/Salsa (DJ Dez salsa rmx) ... 12-inch
Strata/BBE (UK), 2021. New Copy (pic cover)... Out Of Stock
A great reworking of this funky bit of Detroit 70s jazz from Maulawi – originally issued on Strata Records in the 70s, and taken apart and put back together in a nice long mix from DJ Amir! The cut's got these chanted vocals that are great – straight at first, then re-cut as the groove stretches out and a few more contemporary touches are added to the jazzy instrumentation! On the flipside, DJ Dez takes on the cut "Salsa" by Fito Foster – pushing up the beats a bit more, but still letting all the classic salsa warmth of the vocals and instrumentation flow out of the grooves! 12-inch, Vinyl record

Strata/BBE (UK), Early 70s. New Copy 3LP Gatefold ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A deep dive into the work of a wonderful record label – the Strata imprint from Detroit at the start of the 70s – a company who served up some very spiritual sounds in the short time they were issuing records! Don't confuse Strata with Strata East – although the labels do have some similarity – as Strata also brought in a bit more electricity on some of its cuts, and some slight touches of funk as well – a very special brew in which the Detroit jazz underground of the time were mixing things up in so many different ways – really given a lot of freedom to explore styles that are still ahead of their time all these many years later! Key albums on Strata have been reissued in recent years, but the set also features some overlooked gems by more obscure artists too – titles that include "Maiden Voyage" by Ursula Walker, "Salsa (part 1)" by Fito Foster, "Time Is Wasting" by TJ, "Joy Road" by Lyman Woodard Organization, "All But Blind" by Mixed Bag, "Island Song" by Kenny Cox, "Face At My Window" by Sam Sanders, "People We Got To Do Better" by The Soulmates, "You're The One" by TJ, "Noh Word" by Contemporary Jazz Quintet, "Tune For LN" by Larry Nozero, "Where Is The Place" by Maulawi, "Saturday Night Special" by Lyman Woodard, and "Beyond The Dream" by Kenny Cox. LP, Vinyl record album
