MagmaKohntarkosz (180 gram red & yellow vinyl pressing) ... LP
A&M/Music On Vinyl (Netherlands), 1974. New Copy Gatefold (reissue)... $27.99 29.99
A set of extended tracks from French powerhouse Magma, but one that burns with intensity throughout – thanks not just to the killer drum work of group members Christian Vander on drums and Jannink Top on bass (with both on keyboards as well) – but also to the presence of legendary guitarist Brian Godding, whose sounds on the album really set the whole thing on fire! Magma already had a great keyboard and drum groove going on with previous records – but the presence of Godding here really sends things over the top – as, again, the group show that their instrumentation can deliver far more than their vocals – on extended titles that include "Kohntarkosz", "Ork Alarm", and "Coltrane Sundia". LP, Vinyl record album
(Individually numbered limited edition pressing – on heavyweight "Voodoo" colored vinyl!)

MagmaWurdah Itah (180 gram purple vinyl pressing) ... LP
Music On Vinyl (Netherlands), 1974. New Copy Gatefold (reissue)... $27.99 29.99
Maybe one of the strangest albums ever recorded by Magma – a set that's right in the middle of their classic prog run in the 70s, but which has a slightly different vibe! Drummer/keyboardist Christian Vander is maybe even more essential here than ever – but instead of long jams, the tracks are shorter, and often feature vocals from singers Stella Vander and Klaus Blasquiz – mixed with layered drums, piano, Rhodes, and percussion from Christian, plus some added bass work too – almost haunting and chant-like at times, although still pretty rocking overall! The work was originally created for a soundtrack – hence the shorter songs – but it more than stands up on its own – with titles that include "Fur Di Hel Kobaia", "Wainsaht", "Ek Sun Da Zess", "Sehnnteht Dros Wurdah Sums", "Maneh Fur Da Zess", and "Malawelekaahm". LP, Vinyl record album
(Individually numbered limited edition pressing – on heavyweight pruple vinyl!)

✨✧ Black FlowerMagma ... LP
Sdban (Belgium), 2022. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A really haunting little record – one that hangs in older jazz-based territory, but layers in a bit of contemporary elements as well – all with a sound that's maybe somewhere in that special sort of spectrum that might includes recent projects by Hampshire & Foat! There's some great flute and saxophones on the record – mixed in with slow-swelling keyboard lines, quiet bass bits, gentle drums, and great use of cornet – the last of which kind of has a warmer glow, almost like the sun rising over a misty landscape – very poetic, and a beautiful addition to the record! One track has vocals, but the rest of the album is instrumental – and titles include "Morning In The Jungle", "Deep Dive Down", "The Forge", "Blue Speck", "The Light", "O Fogo", and "Half Liquid". Dario & Alberto Baldan BemboVelluto Nero ... CD
Quartet (Spain), 1976. New Copy ... $20.99 28.99
A great combination of erotic sounds and more exotic elements – served up here for an obscure 70s film that starred Laura Gemser of Black Emanuelle fame! Alberto Baldan Bembo had already given the world some wonderfully slinky soundtrack work before this film score – and here, he works with his brother Dario, in a mode that has some of the clubbier touches that were coming into Italian scores of the period, mixed with some of the more scene-setting sounds you might expect from a film shot on location in Egypt by the sea! The record moves nicely between slow-building sensuality and more full-on moments – and titles include "Dance Mood", "Egyptian Sunset", "Sensual", "Black Velvet", "Love In The Desert", "The Dinner", "Tensive Mood", and "Senses Magma". Teddy LasryFunky Ghost 1975 to 1987 ... LP
Hot Mule (France), Late 70s/1980s. New Copy ... $32.99 36.99
Sweet solo work from Teddy Lasry – a keyboardist who first rose to fame as part of the French group Magma, but who's in much more soulful territory here – grooves that are a mix of jazz fusion and sound library modes – all presented with the sort of vintage vibe that you'd expect from the range of different keyboards pictured on the back cover! Lasry's maybe known less for this work than his prog years – but the tracks here show that Teddy's actually developed a great sense of space that makes his music sound even more wonderful than before – a kind of "less is more" approach to the keys, which often makes for some very soulful moments on the set! Titles include "Back To Amazonia", "Funky Ghost", "Krazy Kat", "Chamonix", "Blue Theme", "Raising Sun On Bali", and "Birds Of Space". LP, Vinyl record album

VariousStrain, Crack, & Break – Music From The Nurse With Wound List Vol 2 – Germany ... LP
Finders Keepers (UK), Late 60s/1970s. New Copy 2LP Gatefold ... $26.99 34.99
Wild sounds in a range of different styles – jazz, rock, and more outside modes – all served up in support of a legendary list made years ago by the group Nurse With Wound! The list was a secret guide to all things weird and unusual – put together decades back, and now famous as kind of a Rosetta Stone for stepping into music from the farther left side of the spectrum – here served up from a range of German recordings from back in the day, most recorded during a key moment when the scene was really breaking down boundaries in styles! There's a fair bit of electric elements here, and you'll recognize a few artists as being heroes from the prog and MPS generations – on titles that include "Fritz Muller Traum" by Fritz Muller, "Jazzi Jazzi" by Tomorrow's Gift, "Output" by Wolfgang Dauner, "Black Sand" by Brainticket, "Trauma" by Gomorrha, "Big City" by Thirsty Moon, "Snakeskin Tango" by Brainstorm, "Scorpion" by Association PC, "The Executioner" by My Solid Ground, "It Loves Want To Have Done" by Anima Sound, and "It's So Nice" by Ex Magma. ExmagmaGoldball ... LP
Long Hair (Germany), 1974. New Copy (reissue)... $29.99 34.99
The pants on the cover more than hint at the sound of the album – a free-flowing, very colorful set from this obscure German trio – and a record that's equally balanced between jazz and rock impulses, but which avoids any of the jazzrock cliches of the time! The group really don't sing at all – and instead find ways of weaving together organ, keyboards, bass, guitar, and lots of heavy drums – all with shifting time signatures and musical energy – produced to perfection by Conny Plank! The drums are quite strong – thanks to work from American musician Fred Braceful – and the whole thing is different than some of the spacier, looser albums from the German scene of the period. Titles include "Marilyn F Kennedy", "Da Da", "Groove", "Tango Wolperaiso", "Jam Factory For People Insane", "Habits", and "Dance Of The Crabs". LP, Vinyl record album
