✨✧ Led ZeppelinLed Zeppelin IV ... LP
Atlantic, 1971. Near Mint- ... $39.99
Hard rock perfected! It's around Led Zeppelin IV that you can easily say that the group moved up from being incredibly great to flat-out legendary – really in a class by themselves, although maybe they'd already reached that point with the sublime sounds of the previous three records! There's a darkness here – and a sense of magick too – an eerie new energy that still has all the balls-out rock power of before, but which has the group moving into this heady territory that's really all their own. Every song is a classic – and tracks include "Black Dog", "Stairway To Heaven", "Rock And Roll", "Misty Mountain Hop", "When The Levee Breaks", "Going To California", "Four Sticks", and "Battle Of Evermore". LP, Vinyl record album

Led ZeppelinSong Remains The Same ... CD
Swan Song/Atlantic, 1976. Used 2 CDs ... $6.99
A live album, but one that's every bit as essential to the Led Zeppelin catalog as any of their studio albums from the 70s! In fact, the album may well be more important on its own – as it marked a real high point for the double-length live album in rock music – not just because it features lavish packaging and great presentation – but also because, like the film, it's filled with really long, unusual takes of the group's classics – most of which diverge very strongly from their studio versions! The real highlight here is the set's classic "Moby Dick", which features one of the greatest drum solos ever set to wax – and other tunes include "Rain Song", "Whole Lotta Love", "Stairway To Heaven", "No Quarter", and "Dazed & Confused". ✨✧ Led ZeppelinCoda (deluxe 180 gram 3LP set) ... LP
Swan Song, 1982. Near Mint- 3LP Trifold ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
The title's an apt one – given that the record was the end of the tremendous run of records from Led Zeppelin – issued after the death of legendary drummer John Bomham – but the set's also way more than just an endpoint, as many of the tracks return to the group's beginning – and bring back unheard sounds from early 70s sessions! There's a nice criss-crossing of styles here – from the rawness of the earliest records, to the refined complexity of the mid 70s – and the album's way more than just an afterthought to the catalog – and is filled with great cuts that include the Bonham showpiece "Bonzo's Montreux", plus "We're Gonna Groove", "Poor Tom", "I Can't Quit You Baby". "Wearing And Tearing", and "Ozone Baby". 3LP set features 15 more bonus tracks – including "Four Hands Four Sticks", "Friends (Bombay Orchestra)", "St Tristan's Sword (rough mix)", "We're Gonna Groove (alt mix)", "If It Keeps On Raining (rough mix)", "Baby Come On Home", "Walter's Walk (rough mix)", "Travelling Riverside Blues (BBC session)", "Hey Hey What Can I Do", and "Poor Tom (instrumental mix)". The extra stuff is really amazing – almost worth the record for the two Bombay Orchestra tracks, which mix Indian music in with a Led Zep groove – and the excellent instrumental of "Poor Tom". LP, Vinyl record album
(In the embossed trifold cover. Includes the inserts.)

One of the most monumental debuts in rock history – a record that hit the world like a led zeppelin, and left an impression for years to come! Led Zeppelin pretty much took over rock right from the beginning – which isn't too surprising, given that Jimmy Page had an in-demand guitar heavy for years already – but the power of this debut is still astonishing after all these years – a blistering blend of bluesy roots, psych fuzz, and razor-sharp instrumental dexterity! The whole thing's a gem – and titles include "Good Times Bad Times", "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" "You Shook Me", "Dazed And Confused", "Your Time Is Gonna Come", "Black Mountain Side", and "I Can't Quit You Baby". Led Zeppelin at their most sprawling – in both ambition and in the pacing – on the gargantuan Physical Graffiti! This is the album where they started bringing some odd synth textures to the sound, and it's to Zeppelin's eternal credit that this doesn't compromise their blues-reverent hard rock one bit! There's no better Zeppelin album when it comes to giving the fans what they want, while chasing the band's adventurous muses at the same time. Includes the classics "Kashmir", "Custard Pie", "Houses Of The Holy", "In The Light", "Ten Years Gone", "Boogie With Stu", "Sick Again" and more. LP, Vinyl record album

Overlooked genius from Led Zeppelin – an album that was missed by many the first time around, because of it's tight focus and simplicity! For the set, the group step back just a bit from their more stylistically sprawling tendencies – almost as if they got some of the more ambitious ideas out of their system with Physical Graffiti, or simply wanted to get out there and kick some ass – a back to basics move, and one that sees some tremendous guitar work from Jimmy Page! The album still has some longer songs and complicated changes – this is Led Zeppelin, after all – and the lack of over-played classic rock radio fodder actually makes this one a better listen nowadays than the more iconic albums. Includes "Achilles Last Stand", "For Your Life", "Nobody's Fault But Mine", "Candy Store Rock", "Hots On For Nowhere", and "Tea For One". LP, Vinyl record album

Swan Song/Atlantic, 1979. Used 2 CDs ... Out Of Stock
Led Zeppelin's final album of the 70s – a record that really has them stretching out and trying on some new ideas, yet still holding onto all their genius in the process! Sure, the album's maybe not as iconic as the first few – but from the perspective of decades later, it's a killer – and still blows away just about all the competition – with that Plant/Page magic that still comes through brilliantly, no matter what the setting. There's a few unusual twists and turns – a bit of Latin here, a slight keyboard there – but overall the main focus is still on the lead duo, getting plenty of heavy drums to keep things moving. Titles include the hits "Fool In The Rain" and "All My Love" – plus "In The Evening", "South Bound Suarez", "Carouselambra", and "I'm Gonna Crawl". 2LP set features 7 great bonus tracks – rough mixes of the album in progress, on titles that include "Southbound Piano", "In The Evening", "Blot", "The Hook", "The Epic", and "Fool In The Rain". Led Zeppelin's final album of the 70s! The band was conscious as ever of modern studio sounds by the this point – and they find a way to deliver their hard blues-inspired heavy rock with some new wave synth and other late 70s touches. It works pretty well, and with songs as great as "Fool In The Rain" and "All My Love" on the record, they really couldn't go wrong. An insanely ripping little record – one that comes on with all the raw power of the heaviest work by Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin at the time – even though these guys never hit that sort of fame! The group's a trio with an incredibly deft touch – able to make the simple combination of guitar, bass, and drums explode in wonderfully fresh ways – with some quick-changes that really leave us breathless, and really show off their amazing talents – but never in a way that's overdone at all – as these guys have more of the bottom-end, blues-inspired appeal of Zeppelin during their early years. Vocals are by guitarist John Simms, who's also got a wild way of singing – and titles include "The Rocket Ride", "I'm Comin Home", "Birdcatcher", "My Heaven", "You Mystify", and "Tool Of My Trade". Fantastic funky fusion from the 70s Argentine scene – a set that begins with a killer take on the Led Zeppelin tune "Black Dog", and only gets even groovier after that! Jorge Navarro leads the group on piano, Hammond, and Fender Rhodes – and the group is a tight combo with guitar, bass, drums, and percussion – shifting rhythms nicely to match the dynamic mood of Jorge's work on the keyboard – as he moves through 70s fusion styles and Latin jazz in a wonderful array of grooves! At times, Navarro's not afraid to use some funky phrasing on his electric keys – ala Herbie Hancock – and at other times, he's way down in the groove and really going to town.
