✨✧ Led ZeppelinIn Through The Out Door (double LP sleeve edition – with bonus tracks) ... CD
Swan Song/Atlantic, 1979. Used 2 CDs ... Just Sold Out!
Led Zeppelin's final album of the 70s – a record that really has them stretching out and trying on some new ideas, yet still holding onto all their genius in the process! Sure, the album's maybe not as iconic as the first few – but from the perspective of decades later, it's a killer – and still blows away just about all the competition – with that Plant/Page magic that still comes through brilliantly, no matter what the setting. There's a few unusual twists and turns – a bit of Latin here, a slight keyboard there – but overall the main focus is still on the lead duo, getting plenty of heavy drums to keep things moving. Titles include the hits "Fool In The Rain" and "All My Love" – plus "In The Evening", "South Bound Suarez", "Carouselambra", and "I'm Gonna Crawl". 2LP set features 7 great bonus tracks – rough mixes of the album in progress, on titles that include "Southbound Piano", "In The Evening", "Blot", "The Hook", "The Epic", and "Fool In The Rain". CD
(Even comes in a brown paper bag, like the original!)

Led ZeppelinLed Zeppelin IV ... CD
Atlantic, 1971. Used ... $5.99
Hard rock perfected! It's around Led Zeppelin IV that you can easily say that the group moved up from being incredibly great to flat-out legendary – really in a class by themselves, although maybe they'd already reached that point with the sublime sounds of the previous three records! There's a darkness here – and a sense of magick too – an eerie new energy that still has all the balls-out rock power of before, but which has the group moving into this heady territory that's really all their own. Every song is a classic – and tracks include "Black Dog", "Stairway To Heaven", "Rock And Roll", "Misty Mountain Hop", "When The Levee Breaks", "Going To California", "Four Sticks", and "Battle Of Evermore". Led ZeppelinPhysical Graffiti ... CD
Atlantic, 1975. Used 2 CDs ... $6.99
Led Zeppelin at their most sprawling – in both ambition and in the pacing – on the gargantuan Physical Graffiti! This is the album where they started bringing some odd synth textures to the sound, and it's to Zeppelin's eternal credit that this doesn't compromise their blues-reverent hard rock one bit! There's no better Zeppelin album when it comes to giving the fans what they want, while chasing the band's adventurous muses at the same time. Includes the classics "Kashmir", "Custard Pie", "Houses Of The Holy", "In The Light", "Ten Years Gone", "Boogie With Stu", "Sick Again" and more. CD

Atlantic, 1973. Used ... Out Of Stock
Led Zeppelin at peak power – mixing hard rock bombast with deep, genuine love for blues and folk guitars! Houses Of The Holy is the essential the blueprint for countless imitators to come – but it's also got smarts, subtleties and creative ambitious that's just plain lost on the watered wannabes that floated up in Zeppelin's wake. Titles include "The Crunge", "Over The Hills & Far Away", "The Song Remains The Same", "The Rain Song", "Dancing Days", "Dyer Maker", "No Quarter", and "The Ocean". CD

✨✧ Led ZeppelinLed Zeppelin ... CD
Atlantic, 1969. Used ... Out Of Stock
One of the most monumental debuts in rock history – a record that hit the world like a led zeppelin, and left an impression for years to come! Led Zeppelin pretty much took over rock right from the beginning – which isn't too surprising, given that Jimmy Page had an in-demand guitar heavy for years already – but the power of this debut is still astonishing after all these years – a blistering blend of bluesy roots, psych fuzz, and razor-sharp instrumental dexterity! The whole thing's a gem – and titles include "Good Times Bad Times", "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" "You Shook Me", "Dazed And Confused", "Your Time Is Gonna Come", "Black Mountain Side", and "I Can't Quit You Baby". ✨✧ Led ZeppelinSong Remains The Same ... LP
Swan Song/Atlantic, 1976. Very Good 2LP Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
Arguably one of the greatest double-live albums of the classic rock generation – filled with extra long takes of Led Zep classics, most of which diverge very strongly from their studio versions! The real highlight here is the set's classic "Moby Dick", which features one of the greatest drum solos ever set to wax – but other tunes include "Rain Song", "Whole Lotta Love", "Stairway To Heaven", "No Quarter", and "Dazed & Confused". Clear Blue SkyClear Blue Sky ... CD
Vertigo/Universal (Japan), 1970. New Copy ... $13.99 About April 29, 2021
An insanely ripping little record – one that comes on with all the raw power of the heaviest work by Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin at the time – even though these guys never hit that sort of fame! The group's a trio with an incredibly deft touch – able to make the simple combination of guitar, bass, and drums explode in wonderfully fresh ways – with some quick-changes that really leave us breathless, and really show off their amazing talents – but never in a way that's overdone at all – as these guys have more of the bottom-end, blues-inspired appeal of Zeppelin during their early years. Vocals are by guitarist John Simms, who's also got a wild way of singing – and titles include "The Rocket Ride", "I'm Comin Home", "Birdcatcher", "My Heaven", "You Mystify", and "Tool Of My Trade". CD
This title is scheduled for release about Thursday, April 29.

✨✧ Mountain Mocha KilimanjaroTaking A Lesson From The Past ... CD
P-Vine (Japan), 2012. Used ... Just Sold Out!
Mad heavy funk from this excellent Japanese combo – really hitting hard here on a host of covers of famous tunes – all returned to the group's sharp 70s instrumental approach! The groove is incredible – razor-sharp right from the start, and served up with perfect old school instrumentation – and just the right production to match – perfect for the tight horns in the lead, riffing guitar in the rhythms, and the warm organ that sews the whole thing together! And although we love their own songs, this set seems to sound extra-hip, given that it features work by Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Herbie Hancock, Led Zeppelin, and others – a wicked array of re-tooled tunes that includes "Tell Me A Bedtime Story", "Too High", "Mean Street", "Power Of Soul", "Exodus", "Space Dust", "The Immigrant Song", "Blackbyrd's Theme", and "KITT". Robert Plant & The Sensational Space ShiftersLulllaby & The Ceaseless Roar ... CD
Nonesuch, 2014. Used ... $2.99
The late-career high points get loftier and loftier for the great Robert Plant! Plant is working here with his Sensational Shapeshifters, a band name that just as aptly applies to Plant himself, having shifted over to a progressive folk and roots mode, decades after conquering hard rock in Led Zeppelin! Recorded in England, after moving back home, with a more global-centric vibe than the Americana style of his previous couple records, it's really great stuff – and we genuinely appreciate him pushing creative boundaries at this stage, rather than coasting on his legend status. Includes "Little Maggie", "Rainbow", "Pocketful Of Golden", "Turn It Up", "A Stolen Kiss", "Somebody There", "Poor Howard", "House Of Love", "Up on The Hollow Hill (Understanding Arthur)" and "Abraden (Maggie's Babby)". Terry ReidRiver ... LP
Atlantic, 1973. Very Good+ Gatefold ... $43.99
One of the greatest albums ever from the oft-overlooked Terry Reid – a man who turned down an initial offer to be the lead singer of Led Zeppelin, but went on to record some great albums on his own! The album was Terry's first away from producer Mickie Most – and it's got a much more American vibe than previous efforts – with some nice rootsy touches on guitars (including steel and slide) from the great David Lindley, which really work perfectly with Reid's compellingly raspy vocals – and some slightly funky elements on the bass and drums! Willie Bobo makes a surprising appearance on the title cut "River" – which almost has a Chicano rock groove at times – and other titles include "Dean", "Avenue", "Things To Try", "Live Life", "Dream" and "Milestone". LP, Vinyl record album
(Red & green Broadway label pressing. Cover has some splitting in the bottom seam.)

✨✧ Tony McPhee & FriendsMe & The Devil/I Asked For Water She Gave Me Gasoline ... CD
Liberty/BGO (UK), 1968/1969. New Copy 2CD ... Out Of Stock
Two early solo albums from Tony McPhee – one of which is more of a mixed group affair overall! First up is Me & The Devil – fantastic acoustic blues from Tony McPhee – maybe best known as a member of The Groundhogs, but working here in a looser, more stripped-down mode – acoustic guitar, harmonica, and spare rhythms – all of which give Tony plenty of space to stretch out in the lead! As with Alexis Korner during the end of the 60s, McPhee's clearly influenced by older American blues, but is turning the phrasing towards a mode that would be picked up and shifted in just a year or two by bigger groups in the rock world – a Swan Song legacy that includes Led Zeppelin and Bad Company. Yet in in the all-acoustic, very rootsy sound here the approach is very different – and the record also features some equally bluesy vocals by a young Jo-Ann Kelly! Titles include "Elevator Woman", "Duckin & Dodgin", "Same Thing On My Mind", "Broke Down Engine", "Buy You A Diamond Ring", and "You Better Mind". I Asked For Water is a very cool collection of bluesier work from the UK underground at the end of the 60s – a set put together by Tony TS McPhee of The Groundhogs – with work by that group, Brett Marvin & The Thunderbolts, and the Andy Fernbach Connexion – working in different settings, and with other tracks that feature vocals by Jo-Ann Kelly, who you might know from later soul fame – as well as John Lewis, Jim Pitts, and Graham Hines. Yet all work is in a country blues mode – but with phrasing that really points the way towards near-immediate rock transformations of such a sound – on titles that include "Oh Death", "Dust My Blues", "Built My Hopes Too High", "Nervous", "Boogie Woman", and "I'm So Tired". ✨✧ Jorge NavarroNavarro Con Polenta (with bonus download) ... LP
Aleluya/Altercat (Germany), 1977. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
Fantastic funky fusion from the 70s Argentine scene – a set that begins with a killer take on the Led Zeppelin tune "Black Dog", and only gets even groovier after that! Jorge Navarro leads the group on piano, Hammond, and Fender Rhodes – and the group is a tight combo with guitar, bass, drums, and percussion – shifting rhythms nicely to match the dynamic mood of Jorge's work on the keyboard – as he moves through 70s fusion styles and Latin jazz in a wonderful array of grooves! At times, Navarro's not afraid to use some funky phrasing on his electric keys – ala Herbie Hancock – and at other times, he's way down in the groove and really going to town. Titles include "Funk Yourself", "Black Dog", "Vamos Quedando Pocos", "Lucky Southern", "Despues De La Polenta", and "Repartamos El Funky". LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes download and a nice booklet of notes!)
