✨✧ KKeynote ... CD
Cutting Edge/Avex (Japan), 2001. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A great set of NuSoul tracks from Japan – with production by Jazztronik, Cosmic Village, M-Flo, Little Big Bee, Yukihiro Fukutomi, and other underground talents! K's got a sweet vocal style – perfect for Brazilian numbers, jazzy groovers, or some of the more strident soul cuts on the album – and she alternates between English and Japanese in the course of a song, in a way that's quite different from most of her contemporaries on the Japanese scene. The album features a great remake of King Crimson's "Moonchild", done as a slow funky groover – plus the tracks "Uma Estrela", "Brittle Clouds", "I Hate Sunny Days", "After The Silence", "Tepid Rain", "Echo", and "Daybreak". CD
(Out of print. Includes slipcase, large booklet. Obi has partial splits at top and bottom edges.)

Serge ChaloffBaritone Sax Master – A Proper Introduction To Serge Chaloff ... CD
Proper (UK), Late 40s. Used ... $3.99
Hard-blown baritone from the great Serge Chaloff – one of the greatest jazz players on his instrument, heard here in a set of key late 40s recordings! Serge is perhaps best known for his 2 albums on Captiol – Blue Serge and Boston Blowup – but this collection offers up a great range of earlier 78rpm sessions, recorded for labels that include Motif, Mercer, Keynote, and Savoy – and it stands as a great complement to Capitol sessions. The sides a great progression from swing to bop – and feature Chaloff with players that include Al Cohn, Red Rodney, Allen Eager, Al Haig, George Wallington, Ralph Burns, and Nat Pierce. 22 tracks in all – with titles that include "Blue Serge", "Curbstone Shuffle", "Pennies From Heaven", "Gabardine & Serge", "Serge's Urge", "A Bar A Second", and "We The People". Righteous (UK), Late 50s/Early 60s. New Copy 2CD ... Out Of Stock
Nicely nasty tunes from the generation that inspired the music of The Cramps – that massive underworld of 45rpm and 78rpm singles in the 50s and early 60s – recorded at a time when just about anything was fair game to capture in the studio! The styles here vary as much as the huge selection of tracks on the set – which features 50 rare singles you'll likely not find otherwise, all put together with a wonderful sense of surprise that really keeps things interesting all the way through! Titles include "Dead" by The Poets, "Knees Shakin" by Don Terry, "Don't Cut Out On Me" by Tender Slim, "Big Dog Little Dog" by Harvey Hurt, "Green Front Boogie" by The Del-Tones, "It Took An Older Woman" by Jimmie Dawson, "Good For Nothin" by Scott Engel, "Long Black Shiny Car" by Mike Page, "Vampira" by Bobby Bare, "What Is Fisterris" by The Joker, "Domino" by The Savoys, "I Was A Teenage Monster" by The Keynotes, "Hunger Is From" by Ken Nordine, and "The Fuzz" by Grady Martin.
