An album from JuniorMance that's a real cut above – a live date in Tokyo that has the pianist working with great help from FrankWess on tenor sax and flute – a hell of a bandmate, and a really sparkling talent in this setting! The whole thing's got a bite and edge that really stands out from some of the other albums from both players at the time – maybe in part because the great Alvin Queen is on drums, working with superb work on bass from Martin Rivera – a rhythm player who kicks the whole thing right into gear on just about every cut! Mance and Wess are wonderful – both with a lot more grit than usual – and titles include "The Search", "Opus De Funk", "Alone Together", "Long Ago & Far Away", "I Want To Be Happy", and "Billie's Bounce".
