Perfect CirclePerfect Circle/Hands Of Time (7" edit) ... 7-inch
Inner City/Dynamite Cuts (UK), 1977. New Copy (pic cover)... $18.99
Two rare funky gems from this obscure 70s group! "The Perfect Circle" is a fantastic theme song for the group – hard, full, funky, and plenty darn righteous – a great indie group take on some of the more polished funk ensembles of the time! "Hands Of Time" has totally tight drums at the start – fuller than a drumbreak, but with the same kind of energy – and in support of the righteous vocals from the group singing together – coming on with the kind of force that might make EWF stop dead in their tracks! 7-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ Bobby BareBobby Bare Sings Shel Silverstein Plus (8CD set) ... CD
RCA/Bear Family (Germany), 1970s/Early 80s. New Copy 8CD ... Out Of Stock
A huge tribute to one of the most important partnerships in country music during the 70s – the vocal talents of Bobby Bare and the offbeat songwriting skills of Shel Silverstein – one that helped both artists really hit their heights during the decade! Bare had cut some great work for RCA during the 60s, but was floundering a bit after a brief stop at Mercury Records at the end of the decade – and Silverstein was a multi-voiced artist who was part of the Chicago folk world, a member of Hugh Hefner's inner circle, and both a cartoonist and a clever wordsmith – but one who never had the right showcase for his own songs. Johnny Cash and a few others sung Silverstein songs – but it was really Bobby Bare who found the right platform for Shel's music – taking the hip Midwestern words into more of a down-home spirit in Nashville – blending things perfectly as Bare really started to explore the format of album-length expression in the 70s. This huge set brings together all the remnants of that partnership – and includes 25 unreleased tracks, plus the full albums Lullabys Legends & Lies, Hard Time Hungrys, Singin In The Kitchen, Great American Saturday Night , Down &Y Dirty, Drink & Crazy, and lots more material – plus a huge 128 page hardcover book that has a look at the career of both artists, lots of photos, lyrics, and session details too! 137 tracks on 8CDs – and a stunning collection! ✨✧ Jacob MillerWho Say Jah No Dread ... LP
Greensleeves, Mid 70s. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
Beautiful sounds from the mighty Jacob Miller – material recorded with Augustus Pablo in the years before Miller went onto greater fame in Inner Circle – and with a rootsy vibe that's still extremely powerful all these many years later! Pablo's at the height of his talents here – able to hit just the best righteous modes, but without ever going over the top – at a level that seems completely effortless, and which really empowers the message in Miller's vocals! The set's overflowing with gems – and titles include "Keep On Knocking", "Each One Teach One", "Who Say Jah No Dread", "False Rasta", "Baby I Love You So", and "Girl Named Pat" – plus the dubs "Knocking Version", "Hungry Town Skank", "King Tubby Meet Rockers Uptown", "Jah Dread", "Each One Teach One Version", and "Girl Named Pat Version". ✨✧ VariousRockers – Original Soundtrack ... LP
Island (UK), 1978. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
The great soundtrack to Rockers – an important film from the Jamaican scene of the 70s, and one that offered up some really fantastic footage right from the streets of Kingston! The film was issued after the big fame of The Harder They Come – and while it never reached the heights of the Jimmy Cliff classic, it's maybe even more interesting overall – a lot less polished, in a way that also comes through in the music – which echoes the nature of the film with some of the sense of accident and collaboration that characterized the ever-fervent scene of the time. Titles include "We A Rockers" by Inner Circle, "Money Worries" by The Maytones, "Police & Thieves" by Junior Murvin, "Book Of Rules" by The Heptones, "Stepping Razor" by Peter Tosh, "Tenement Yard" by Jacob Miller, "Fade Away" by Junior Byles, "Rockers" by Bunny Wailer, "Slave Master" by Gregory Isaacs, "Dread Lion" by The Upsetters, "Graduation In Zion" by Kiddus I, "Jah No Dead" by Burning Spear, "Satta Massagana" by Third World, and "Natty Take Over" by Justin Hinds & The Dominos. LP, Vinyl record album
(Jamaican pressing. Vinyl plays with a short click on the first two tracks of the first side.)

✨✧ VariousTrojan Presents Roots – 40 Roots & Culture Classics ... CD
Trojan (UK), Mid 70s. Used 2CD ... Out Of Stock
Really great work from the roots years of the 70s – a time when reggae got even deeper and more righteous than a few years before – definitely breaking its initial ties with American soul music, and finding a strong voice of its own! The period coincides with some especially strong years for the Trojan Records label, too – home to some of the best roots music of the period, a good deal of which is collected in this 40 track set. The music here goes way past the obvious cliches of the Island Records scene, and moves a lot deeper underground – with a variety of expression that makes the double-length collection incredibly rich – on titles that include "War Ina Babylon" by Max Romeo, "Wolf & Leopard" by Dennis Brown, "Row Fisherman Row" by The Congos, "His Majesty Is Coming" by The In Crowd, "Last War" by Zap Pow, "Bredda Gravilicious" by Wailing Souls, "Zion Gate" by Culture, "Humanity" by Prince Lincoln & The Royal Rasses, "Curly Locks" by Junior Byles, "Fire Burning" by Bob Andy, "Sufferer's Time" by The Heptones, "Prophesy Must Fulfil" by Justin Hinds & The Dominoes, "Tenement Yard" by Jacob Miller & The Inner Circle, and "Chase The Devil" by Max Romeo. First half of the second volume in one of the defining moments of music in the 90s! ✨✧ Gap BandGap Band VII ... LP
Total Experience, 1985. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
Sweet electro funk from The Gap Band – a group who are still grooving strong here, hitting the best of their Total Experience modes! The trio's mighty tight throughout – and their familiar funk is augmented by some electro touches that definitely keep things fresh – and we mean that in the best mid-80s use of the word! A bit of an old school influence comes into the vocals at points – which are spoken as much as sung on some cuts – and as always, The Gap Band really show their strength with the kind of catchy chorus that works great with a bassy groove. Titles include a great ballad reworking of "Going In Circles" – plus the groovers "Lil Red Funkin Hood", "Automatic Brain", "Desire", "Bumpin Gum People", and "I Know We'll Make It". LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes the printed inner sleeve.)
