Re:JazzLive At Motion Blue – Yokohama (CD & DVD) ... CD
Infracom (Germany), 2008. Used CD & DVD ... $3.99
A really great live set from Re:Jazz – one that's got an even more soulful feel than some of their previous studio work! The performance features a small core group – acoustic piano from group leader Matthias Vogt, mixed with guitar, bass, and drums – plus a range of saxes and flute from Oliver Leicht, whose contributions here really deepen the sound! The lovely Inga Luhning sings on a number of tracks – with a warmly soulful feel that's great, and much more unified than the mix of singers you might have heard on the earliest projects from the group – continuing the great sound she brought forth on the Expansion record. Re:Jazz have moved way past their initial gimmick by this point – and the album has them working as a really tight ensemble who mix together jazz and soul for a contemporary audience – recorded here with a beautifully crisp feel. Titles include "Cupid & Orlando", "Style", "Keep On Movin", "All Over", "Written In The Stars", "Can You Live", "Torch Of Freedom", and "People Hold On". Also features a bonus DVD, in PAL format – with a 90 minute documentary "Re:Jazz In Japan" – plus 30 minutes of bonus material that show the group recording with Alice Russell! CD
(DVD is in PAL format.)

Re:JazzRe:Jazz ... CD
Infracom (Germany), 2002. Used ... $6.99
Fantastic stuff – and a jazz remix project with a real difference! The difference here is that instead of taking older jazz tracks and re-doing them in dance music versions, the set takes original dance tracks and re-does them in jazz versions! The result is wonderful – a warm-voiced album that's one of our favorite releases of the year, and proof that there's a beating heart of soul in the hipster underground! The set brings together talents that are known for their work in bridging both worlds of music – and performers on the record include Till Bronner, Erik Truffaz, Nathan Haines, Matthias Vogt, and Oliver Bott. Instrumentation includes vibes, piano, trumpet, tenor, and lots of wonderful guest vocals – and the album features covers of "Cupid & Orlando" by Aromabar, "Release Your Mind" by Soulpatrol, "People Come Running" by Taxi, "Torch Of Freedom" by Cleveland Watkiss, "The Way I Swing" by DJ Matt, "Arena" by Kosma, and "Mental Strength" by Megashire. (Out of print, slipcase is not included.)

✨✧ JhelisaPrimitive Guide To Being There (CD & DVD) ... CD
Infracom (Germany), 2006. Used CD &DVD ... Out Of Stock
A stellar batch of new century cosmic soul from Jhelisa – worth the nearly decade-long wait! Jhelisa has always seamlessly blended a soul jazz steeped lyrical and aural groove with more modern touches, such as very subtle electronics and hip hop era production tricks, and she's arguably doing it even better now, with more pronounced earthy and rootsy touches. A remarkable record from an incredible talent who doesn't record nearly often enough! Tracks include "Freedom Land", "Flute Band In Gauteng", "Culture Of Silence (Parts 1&2)", "Journey Of Life (In 9 Minutes)", "Love Is A State Of Mind", "Walking On Air", "Far I Have Come, Far I Must Go" and "Survivin' (In The Key Of Eflat)". Includes the bonus DVD One Week With Jhelisa – a 52 minute documentary that follows Jhelisa as she revisits her roots in the US, in the studio and more! CD

Spare, spacey, laidback, and jazzy! This subtle little gem is filled with some of the best chillout tracks we've heard in ages – featuring vibes, Fender Rhodes, and slightly jagged beats all grooving around in a very organic way. The album's a lot like Jaffa's great first LP – but with a sound that's a bit freer and not as full on, if that makes any sense. Titles include "At Last", "Undercurrent", "Spindrift", "Silent Running", "Sleeping Planet", "When Worlds Collide", and "Time Tunnel". CD
