Linval Thompson & The RevolutionariesBoss Man's Dub – The Lost 1979 Dub Album ... CD
Hot Milk (UK), 1979. Used ... $13.99
Long buried late 70s dub from the mighty Linval Thompson – with Revolutionaries rhythms! It's prime level dub creatively – so the 2 great mysteries behind the set are why the material as a whole languished unreleased for as long as it did – along with who exactly handled the mixing. In any case – it's got the soulful voicing and echoey dub atmosphere you'd want – and it's wholly top notch all the way. Includes a healthy booklet of notes by David Katz, too! Titles includes "La La Means I Dub You", "One More Dub", "Lonely Dub", "Babylonian Dub", "Willow Tree Dub", "Boss Man's Dub" and more. CD

✨✧ I BenjahmanFraction Of Jah Action (with bonus tracks) ... CD
Lion Kingdom/Hot Milk (UK), Early 80s. New Copy 2CD ... Out Of Stock
Great lost work from the UK scene of the early 80s – self-produced, self-released work from I Benjahman – an artist who was strongly inspired by the more righteous side of the Kingston scene of the decade before! Most of these tracks have a groove that's mighty lean, and beautifully fluid – dubby rhythms with all these other elements floating around in the mix, almost like water – piano, guitar, and other sounds that bubble and ebb along with Benjahman's conscious lyrics – music with the sort of message you might expect from the image on the cover. Titles on the original album include "Give Love A Try", "Sweet Reggae Music", "Family Affair", "Jah World Will Keep On Turning", "Jah Nation", "Natural Forces", and "She Got To Know". 2CD set also features 16 bonus tracks – including single cuts "Family Affair (12" version)", "Give Love A Try (12" version)", "Hold Me Tight", and "Family Affair (dub plate voc)" – and 12 more dubs of the album tracks – which, given how dubby the album already is, makes for some pretty dubby music! ✨✧ Ranking DreadGirls Fiesta ... CD
Hot Milk (UK), 1978. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A girls fiesta that's swimming in dub – presented here by the legendary Ranking Dread – easily one of he most badass performers in reggae at the time! The record features some amazing production from Linval Thompson, who's really at the top of his game here – providing Dread with these deep-stepping, head-nodding sounds that are a perfect fit for the power of his lyrics. And despite the "party" sound of the title, the album's got some very deep political elements – very much like Ranking Dread himself at the time. Titles include "Natty Dread Is A Struggler", "Poor Man", "Africa", "Natty On The Rock/Death Trap", "Marijuana Soul", and "Kilburn Lane". CD reissue is great – and features detailed notes on Ranking Dread, his political activities, and time on the lam across national boundaries! CD

✨✧ UpsettersGood, The Bad, & The Upsetters (Jamaican edition) ... CD
Hot Milk (UK), Early 70s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Legendary early 70s Upsetters instrumentals – a brilliant, soulful batch of Jamaican versions produced by Lee Scratch Perry – and unlike the Trojan release from around the same time, this one was released with Scratch's full involvement! Fantastic work that sounds great to this day, and in a formative mode that suggests the tricked out Scratch sounds to come a few years down the road. Titles include "Same Thing All Over", "It's All In The Game", "Big Ball", "Dracula", "Soul Rebel V.3", "Down The Road", "Some Sign", "Equalizer", "Must Reach You" and more. CD
(2013 CD version from Hot Milk UK – with all new art work!)

✨✧ VariousStudio One Rockers ... LP
Soul Jazz/Studio One (UK), Late 60s/Early 70s. New Copy 2LP ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
An excellent compilation that's very much in the spirit of the 100% Dynamite sets on Soul Jazz! This time, Soul Jazz dig through the vaults of the legendary Studio One catalog – some of the most important reggae and rocksteady ever recorded, virtually all of it produced under the tutelage of Clement "Coxone" Dodd. Much of this material has been floating around over the years, but we'd be hard pressed to think of a better collection of it – especially when considering the excellent fidelity of the set, which is way better than an of Dodd's own reissues of the material. Plus, the folks at Soul Jazz have gone out of their way to put together the tracks as an extremely well-thought out introduction to the music, not just a scattered batch of tunes that happened to be available. The set also includes a recent interview with Clement Dodd, plus loads of great rocksteady and early reggae tracks. Titles include "Surfin" by Ernest Ranglin, "Real Rock" by Sound Dimension, "Feel Like Jumping" by Marcia Griffiths, "Greedy G" by Brentford All Stars, "Village Soul" by Lennie Hibbert, "Ethiopia" by Cedric Brooks, "Crabwalking" by Prince Jazzbo, "Hot Milk" by Jackie Mittoo, "Badder Dan Dem" by Lone Ranger, and "Bobby Bobylon" by Freddy McGregor. ✨✧ Spirit Of AtlantaBurning Of Atlanta ... LP
Buddah, 1973. New Copy (reissue)... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Totally great – and a record you probably know nothing about! The album's one of the greatest ever to come out of the Hotlanta scene of the 70s – a tight batch of funk tracks with a heck of a lot of guitar. The set was produced by Tommy Stewart, of "Bump and Hustle" fame – and it's got an unusual style that's equally appealing to fans of funk, and fans of clubbier music – lots of tight playing, hard riffing, and longer grooves that soar along with impeccable grace. The whole thing's almost like the classic Wood Brass & Steel album – but with some rougher edges that make it even better! Includes the great tracks "Vine City" and "Messin Around", both of which are very long funk tracks, plus shorter cuts that are just as funky, like "Down Underground", "Freddie's Alive and Well", and "Buttermilk Bottom". Don't pass this up, it's a funky monster classic! LP, Vinyl record album
