✨✧ UpsettersGood, The Bad, & The Upsetters (Jamaican edition) ... CD
Hot Milk (UK), Early 70s. New Copy ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Legendary early 70s Upsetters instrumentals – a brilliant, soulful batch of Jamaican versions produced by Lee Scratch Perry – and unlike the Trojan release from around the same time, this one was released with Scratch's full involvement! Fantastic work that sounds great to this day, and in a formative mode that suggests the tricked out Scratch sounds to come a few years down the road. Titles include "Same Thing All Over", "It's All In The Game", "Big Ball", "Dracula", "Soul Rebel V.3", "Down The Road", "Some Sign", "Equalizer", "Must Reach You" and more. CD
(2013 CD version from Hot Milk UK – with all new art work!)

✨✧ VariousStrong Like Sampson – Lival Thompson Presents The 12" Mixes ... CD
Hot Milk (UK), 1979/1980. New Copy 2CD ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Heavy club mixes from Linval Thompson – key work from that time when the 12" single really opened up the sonic possibilities of reggae! The work here is either by Thompson, or some of his frequent collaborators on his Strong Like Sampson label – and titles include mixes of "Mr Big Shot", "Curfew", "Mr Collie Man", and "Mr Boss Man" all by Linval Thompson – plus "Gonna Be Sorry" and "Sometime I Cry" by Freddy McKay, "Natty Dread Nah Run" by Barry Brown, "Stop Pushing Me Around" by Ranking Trevor, "I'm A Dread Locks" by Sammy Dread & Papa Tullo, "Promised Land" by Rod Taylor, "Rainy Days" by Sammy Dread, "Africa" by Anthony Johnson, "Wicked Intention" by Barrington Levy, and "Stereograph Style" by Jah Thomas. ✨✧ I BenjahmanFraction Of Jah Action (with bonus tracks) ... CD
Lion Kingdom/Hot Milk (UK), Early 80s. New Copy 2CD ... Out Of Stock
Great lost work from the UK scene of the early 80s – self-produced, self-released work from I Benjahman – an artist who was strongly inspired by the more righteous side of the Kingston scene of the decade before! Most of these tracks have a groove that's mighty lean, and beautifully fluid – dubby rhythms with all these other elements floating around in the mix, almost like water – piano, guitar, and other sounds that bubble and ebb along with Benjahman's conscious lyrics – music with the sort of message you might expect from the image on the cover. Titles on the original album include "Give Love A Try", "Sweet Reggae Music", "Family Affair", "Jah World Will Keep On Turning", "Jah Nation", "Natural Forces", and "She Got To Know". 2CD set also features 16 bonus tracks – including single cuts "Family Affair (12" version)", "Give Love A Try (12" version)", "Hold Me Tight", and "Family Affair (dub plate voc)" – and 12 more dubs of the album tracks – which, given how dubby the album already is, makes for some pretty dubby music! ✨✧ Ranking DreadGirls Fiesta ... CD
Hot Milk (UK), 1978. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A girls fiesta that's swimming in dub – presented here by the legendary Ranking Dread – easily one of he most badass performers in reggae at the time! The record features some amazing production from Linval Thompson, who's really at the top of his game here – providing Dread with these deep-stepping, head-nodding sounds that are a perfect fit for the power of his lyrics. And despite the "party" sound of the title, the album's got some very deep political elements – very much like Ranking Dread himself at the time. Titles include "Natty Dread Is A Struggler", "Poor Man", "Africa", "Natty On The Rock/Death Trap", "Marijuana Soul", and "Kilburn Lane". CD reissue is great – and features detailed notes on Ranking Dread, his political activities, and time on the lam across national boundaries! CD

✨✧ Jefferson AirplaneLong John Silver ... LP
Grunt, 1972. Very Good+ Gatefold ... $4.99
The last studio effort from Jefferson Airplane – and an underappreciated gem! At this point, Airplane was on the descent, landing gear in place – with the foundations for band's one-time side projects Jefferson Starship and Hot Tuna ready to relaunch as primary projects. That said, it's high quality early 70s rock – and not at all a rehash of their mid-to-late 60s heyday – with some really cool leftfield post-hippie blues rock tunes. Includes "Long John Silver", "Aerie (Gang Of Eagles)", "Twilight Double Leader", "Milk Train", "The Son Of Jesus", "Easter?", "Trial By Fire", "East Starch Mom" and more. LP, Vinyl record album
(In the original fold-out cover, including the printed inner sleeve. Cover has light wear.)

✨✧ VariousAll The Young Droogs – 60 Juvenile Delinquent Wrecks – Rock N Glam & A Flavour Of Bubblegum From The 70s (3CD set) ... CD
RPM (UK), Mid 70s. New Copy 3 CDs ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A fantastic collection of gems from the glam rock years – music that's much more obscure than the bigger work of the time by artists like Bowie, Bolan, or Queen – and which instead represents this amazing untapped underground that really opens up our understanding of the time! Some of these groups hit bigger fame in the world of hard rock – and there's definitely a few classic acts on here too – but the package is also full of smaller-name groups who are draped in fuzz guitar, pounding heavy drums, and singing with plenty of attitude – all to give England the kick in the ass that it needed in the years before punk! The production is often as fantastic as the performance – all the elements compressed up together in the best glammish way, which makes even sweet moments sound oddly sinister – and as with other packages of this nature from Cherry Red, the notes are as superb as the set list – showing that the careful choices of cuts were extremely thoughtful and well-researched. 60 tracks in all – with work by Buster, Hector, Bilbo Baggins, One Hit Wonders, Iron Virgin, Slowload, James Hogg, Milk N Cookies, Third World War, Ning, Stevie Wright, Sweeny Todd, Biggles, Mint, Tank, John Henry, Rococo, Metro, Brett Smiley, Redhead, Hot Rod, Baby Grande, Lemming, The Jets, and many more. ✨✧ Jefferson AirplaneBark/Long John Silver ... CD
Grunt/BGO (UK), 1971/1972. New Copy 2CD ... Out Of Stock
A pair of early 70s Jefferson Airplane albums – back to back in a single set! First up is Bark –underrated later Airplane – issued at the time on their own Grunt label! Bark came out in '71, after the departure of co-founder Marty Balin, but despite that obviously important loss, there are some pretty cool positive changes in approach, even if it wasn't enough to keep the group flying for too much longer! For one, it's got some excellent violin by Papa John Creach on several tunes – and Slick and Kantor's vocals and songwriting are still in solid shape here. Titles include "When The Earth Moves Again", "Feel So Good", "Crazy Miranda", "Wild Turkey", "Law Man", "Think", "War Movie" and more. Long John Silver is the last studio effort from Jefferson Airplane – and an underappreciated gem! At this point, Airplane was on the descent, landing gear in place – with the foundations for the band members' one-time side projects Jefferson Starship and Hot Tuna ready to relaunch as primary projects. High quality early 70s rock – and not at all a rehash of their mid-to-late 60s heyday – with some really cool leftfield post-hippie blues rock tunes. Includes "Long John Silver", "Aerie (Gang Of Eagles)", "Twilight Double Leader", "Milk Train", "The Son Of Jesus", "Easter?", "Trial By Fire", "East Starch Mom" and more. CD

✨✧ Spirit Of AtlantaBurning Of Atlanta ... LP
Buddah, 1973. New Copy (reissue)... $9.99
Totally great – and a record you probably know nothing about! The album's one of the greatest ever to come out of the Hotlanta scene of the 70s – a tight batch of funk tracks with a heck of a lot of guitar. The set was produced by Tommy Stewart, of "Bump and Hustle" fame – and it's got an unusual style that's equally appealing to fans of funk, and fans of clubbier music – lots of tight playing, hard riffing, and longer grooves that soar along with impeccable grace. The whole thing's almost like the classic Wood Brass & Steel album – but with some rougher edges that make it even better! Includes the great tracks "Vine City" and "Messin Around", both of which are very long funk tracks, plus shorter cuts that are just as funky, like "Down Underground", "Freddie's Alive and Well", and "Buttermilk Bottom". Don't pass this up, it's a funky monster classic! LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Indian SummerGiving Birth To Thunder ... LP
Numero, Early 90s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A quintessential snapshot of the rawer roots of the 90s emo scene! Oakland's Indian Summer only lasted about a year, and recorded a bunch of songs issued as 7 inches or on compilations, but never issued a proper LP in their short time as an active band. Most of their songs have fragile melodic buildups to cathartic roaring end – and a raw sound that really does feel a lot more earnestly real than the more polished followers who made it to the major labels and mainstream alternative rock radio later in the decade. Numero does the 90s underground rock scene a solid here! Includes "Angel", "MM", the relatively epic "Woolworm", "Reflections On Milkweed", "Sugar Pill", "I Think Your Train Is Leaving", "Touch The Wing Of An Angel Doesn't Mean You Can Fly", "Truman" and "Orchard".
