Four Flies (Italy), Mid 70s. New Copy ... $19.99
A really great record that definitely lives up to its title and cover – a set that's sort of a cool 70s take on exotica modes from years past! The music here is almost all performed by Giuliano Sorgini – who plays drums and lots of percussion, then adds in electronics too – using keyboard lines to shape the sounds alongside the rhythms, or occasionally making these sound effects that heighten the exotic vibe of the songs! A few tunes verge on funk, but most have a dreamier exotica vibe – and titles include "Miraggio", "Notte Nella Savana", "Senza Scampo", "Sacrificio Umano", "Voodoo", "Agguato", "Viaggio Nel Deserto", "Oasi Nella Giungla", and "Africa Oscura". Leo/BTF (Italy), 1972. New Copy (reissue)... $26.99
A fantastic little record, and one that really lives up to the "elettro" promise in its title – as Giuliani Sorgini uses lots of offbeat electronics, in a mode that's almost a link between the musique concrete experiments of the 60s, and some of the more electronic-based sound library material of the time in which the album was recorded! There's lots of dark moments and strange noises on the record, but Sorgini does a good job of balancing tuneful sections with more abstract passages – in a way that moves beautifully between darkness and light, but with maybe a bit more time in the shadows overall. Titles include "Marker", "Loudspeaker", "Solitudine Venusiana", "Maracas Nell'Atmosfera", "Fabbrica Spaziale", "Dinamica K", and "Malinconia Magnetica". LP, Vinyl record album

Giuliano SorginiSounds From The Far Space ... LP
Sonor/Musica Per Immagini (Italy), 1973. New Copy ... $23.99
A never-issued album from Italian composer Giuliano Sorgini – and one that's very much in the best spirit of some of his better-known sound library albums from the 70s! Like some of those, Sorgini does a great job here of balancing more experimental modes with more familiar ones – using lots of electronics and processing to certainly evoke the sounds from space promised by the title – but often with a sense of humanity that comes through in some weird wordless vocal passages, occasional earth-bound sound effects, or other more familiar instrumental touches – including a bit of strings, which are oddly welcome next to the electronic elements. Titles include "Lunar Walk", "UFO", "Upwards", "Into The Space Immensity", "Sweet Trance", "Death Of A Comet", and "Man In The Space". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Braen/Raskovich/Kema (Alessandro Alessanadroni/Giuliano Sorgini/Giulia De Mutiis)Pawnshop EP ... LP
Four Flies (Italy), 1970. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A set that's billed as an EP, but which has more than enough funk and fuzz to top much longer soundtracks – thanks to great work from the legendary Braen/Raskovich studio combo! The group are really the brainchild of Alessandro Alessandroni – who plays guitar, bass, sitar, and even sings a bit – and Giuliano Sorgini – who handles drums, Hammond, and lots of percussion – both seasoned sound library maestros in their own right, but really set loose here under the guise of Braen to explore a unique blend of funk and psychedelia! The drums are amazing – truly heavy on most numbers, making for a super-funky set – and the use of moody guitar and sitar is wonderful, with lots of weird, wild shading – but always in a way that keeps things groovy throughout. Titles include "Please Don't Say No", "Carol", and both vocal and instrumental versions of the three tunes "My Shade", "Telegraph Is Callin", and "Laura What You Do". LP, Vinyl record album
(Limited to 600 copies. Covers are variable in black and tan versions.)
