✨✧ Georgie SweetMisunderstood ... LP
Futuristica (UK), 2020. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Georgie Sweet's just starting out, but we've got a feeling that we're going to be hearing from the singer plenty in years to come – as she's one of the freshest soul music talents we've heard from the UK scene in years – bristling with unique creative energy on this massive debut! Georgie's something of a protege of Deborah Jordan – and some of her work here echoes the vibe of Jordan's music, but takes off into much more cosmic directions too – loads of heavy keyboards on the set, and spacey touches on some of the lyrics – set to beats that are spaced-out, never too heavy, and which keep things in this midtempo mode that really lets the vocals flow! We're not sure if Sweet's playing the keyboards or someone else – but they're as great as the vocals, and really give the whole record this special jazzy edge – on original titles that include "Half Human", "What I Had Done", "I Am Living", "Deserve Something", "Sorry", "Flower", "Untold", "FEAR", and "Misunderstood". DJ Simon SMusic 4 Alternative Souls (expanded edition) ... CD
Futuristica (UK), 2018. New Copy 2CD ... $13.99
An nicely expanded take on this soulful set from Futuristica frontman Simon S – an artist who really knows the best way to continue the crispy, cosmic vibe of the London scene from years past – while also forging his own way forward into new territory in 21st Century soul! Simon's always been a very collaborative artist – and that's definitely the case here, as the set features a shifting lineup of singers – Georgie Sweet, Nathan Thomas, Oz, Nicola Cramer, and others – all coming together with a nicely unified vibe, thanks to Simon's production skills – on cuts that include "Sunblind", "The Game", "For You", "Slick", "Looking", "Half Human", "Beautiful", and "Sunshine Through The Trees". 2CD version features lots of bonus mixes – six more tracks added to the original album! Jack Van PollHi Jackin' (2022 Record Store Day Drop) ... LP
Decca/Music On Vinyl (Netherlands), 1972. New Copy (reissue)... On June 18, 2022
A massive Fender Rhodes set from early 70s Belgium – the kind of set that never shows up on this side of the Atlantic, and which is pretty darn rare in its home territory too! Keyboardist Jack Van Poll has a wonderful sense of space on this set – a way of letting the tunes build simply and gracefully – often with a slow-growing groove that lets the Rhodes roll along wonderfully – never too slow, though, and always with a sweet funky undercurrent! And while we'd never heard of Jack before this set, he's got a great sense of style and imagination on his solos – very open, but always with a soulful undercurrent. The rest of the trio includes Mary Hehuat on Fender bass and Ruud Pronk on drums – and titles include "Marriedyet", "Blue Tait", "A Box For Leslie", "Sweet Georgie Fame", "Passage To Pferov", and "Objizdka". (Note: This item is not for sale online until 7:00am on Sunday, June 19. It is in limited supply – and by nature of the Record Store Day rules it will be offered for sale first to customers who visit the Dusty Groove retail outlet in Chicago the morning of Saturday, June 18. It will not be pre-sold or reserved in any way. However, after 7:00am on June 19 we will offer up whatever we have left for sale online.) LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Blossom DearieFrom The Meticulous To The Sublime – 1975 Vol 2 ... LP
Daffodil, 1975. Near Mint- ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A wonderful mid 70s session from Blossom Dearie – a small combo outing, but one that's less in the straighter trio style of some of her other records on the Daffodil label! The keyboards here are mostly electric, and used in a way that provides warmly flowing lines alongside Blossom's sweet vocals – in a style that almost makes the record feel like a fuller studio effort, but which retains the close-up and personal sense that always makes a Dearie record sound best. Titles are nearly all original numbers penned with Blossom's great sense of humor – with numbers that include "Hey John", "Sweet Georgie Fame", "I'm Shadowing You", "Many's The Time", "Isn't That The Thing To Do", "How Do You Say Auf Wiedersehn", and "Saving My Feeling For You". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has light wear, but looks great overall.)
