✨✧ Errol DunkleyDarling Ooh (brown vinyl pressing – with bonus tracks) ... LP
Trojan/Real Gone, 1972. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
Slinky, soulful, and completely seductive sounds from the great Erroll Dunkley – not the person pictured on the cover, but a wonderful Jamaican singer who works here alongside superb production from Sonia Pottinger! The tunes are all laidback, but never sleepy – that perfect early reggae balance of slowness and focus that can make a record like this so great – gently tripping rhythms that could sound funkier if they wanted to, but which are a masterpiece in restraint – so that all the elements are focused down into the groove, while Erroll serves up these snakey vocals over the top. Titles include "Movie Star", "Like To Be Boosed", "A Little Way Different", "Created By The Father", "Baby I Love You", "It Was Nice While It Lasted", and "I'm Not The Man For You". This pressing includes the bonus track "Hilite (parts 1 & 2)". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ VariousExplosive Rock Steady (with bonus tracks) ... CD
Amalgamated/Doctor Bird (UK), Late 60s. New Copy 2CD ... Out Of Stock
A killer collection of early work from producer Joe Gibbs – the kind of all-burning material that made Joe such a fresh new voice on the rocksteady scene in Kingston, and a studio whiz who helped set the tone for countless others to come! There's a quality to this work that's wonderful – groups that are tight, but never uptight – and singers that are very much part of the groove, almost urged on by the instrumentation by the well-chosen studio players that Gibbs chose for these early gems on his Amalgamated record label. Titles include "Long Shot" by The Pioneers, "I'm Moving On" by Keith Blake, "Miss Tourist" by Errol Dunkley, "Hold Them" by Roy Shirley, "Train To Soulville" by Cool Sticky, "Push It In" by The Versatiles, and "Come Brothers" by Hugh Malcolm. 2CD set features a stunning 46 bonus tracks, a number of which appear here on CD for the first time – other Joe Gibbs late 60s productions for artists who include Vin Gordon, The Versatiles, Creations, Eric Monty Morris, The Overtakers, Leaders, Dennis Walks, Lee King Perry, Lord Salmons, Neville Hinds, and others.
