A set that brings together the earliest music by Ghost Funk Orchestra – previously only out there in the digital world and on cassette, and a great start to the legacy of the group! As with some of their recent albums, the vibe here is a spooky take on deep funk – bits of psychedelic instrumentation, eerie effects, and plenty of echo in the production – all of which really give the group their unique sound! There's vocals on a number of tracks, but often used in a way that swirls around nicely with the echo, only furthering the "ghost" in their sound – and the set features the full previous digital releases Night Walker and DeathWaltz – with tracks that include "Brain Fog", "Lost Soul", "Brownout", "Dark Passage", "Blood Moon", "Demon Demon", "Franklin Avenue", and "A Moment Of Clarity". LP, Vinyl record album
(Indie exclusive opaque red vinyl pressing.)

A sweet electric score to an odd early 80s Roger Corman production – served up with lots of Jupiter 8 keyboards and clavinet! The sound is relatively spare overall – fitting for the movie's alien themes – and the electronics pulsate at a level that feels very organic – similar to the spare, stark, and extremely striking sounds on early John Carpenter soundtracks! Bits of piano, drums, and "blaster waterphone" figure into the music at points – but the Jupiter 8 is really in the lead, and directs most of the action on this compelling electronic soundscape. Titles include "The Hole", "Steam Room", "Mutation", "Titles", "Mourning", "Birth & Death", and "Laser Shower". LP, Vinyl record album
(Heavy clear vinyl pressing, in heavy cover – with poster and book – still in shrink with hype sticker!)
The first-ever record release of this incredible soundtrack – Joe Delia's moody score for the Abel Ferrara film Ms 45 – served up here in a stunning package from DeathWaltz! Delia's music has a bit more class and subtlety than some other early 80s scores of this type – more focus on acoustic instrumentation overall, with a sense of space and brooding that rivals some of the creepiest Italian work of the 70s! At a few key points, things get more electric and offbeat – as the dominant odd-tuned piano gives way to bits of basslines or tenor sax – both used in these strange styles that feel more like downtown New York arty than any sort of mainstream soundtrack grooves. Titles include "Pimp & Whore (parts 1 & 2)", "Bass & Drums Thana Walking", "Arab V2", "Thana In The Mirror V2", "Kills Peter", "First Attack", "Piano Choice", and "Window Breaking". LP, Vinyl record album
Legendary Italian prog combo Goblin – reunited in the studio on the cusp of their 2013 tour – and sounding as vital as ever! This great EP is a slight departure for the DeathWaltz label – in that it's a contemporary set, rather than a straight up soundtrack – but the group themselves are revisiting their soundtrack classics. It includes new versions of 3 classics from their Dario Argento canon – "Profondo Rosso", "Suspiria" and "Tenebre" – plus "Roller" – the title track from what's probably their greatest non-soundtrack album. LP, Vinyl record album
(Red vinyl pressing.)

Morricone fans – this one's got it all! The music is completely wonderful throughout, and a great mix of everything that makes Ennio Morricone so tremendous – a bit of bossa here, some funky bits there, and even some spookier slow passages with a nice atonal feel! The main theme of the record is more than enough to get us going – a wonderful tune with wordless female vocals in the best Mondo Morricone mode – but other instrumental tracks follow with some very cool, slow moments – including some great love themes which then lead to some beefier, bouncier numbers that are really great too. Titles include "La Lucertola", "Magia Nera", "Giorno Di Notte", "Spiriti", "Ancora Ad Est", "Sfinge", "Spostato Ad Est" and more. LP, Vinyl record album
(Green and blue vinyl pressing with fold out poster.)
Amazing work from John Carpenter – still a dedicated soundtrack composer long into his film career – and always a master of spare, spooky electronics! The instrumentation here is a bit evolved from some of his earliest classics – different keyboards and electronics developed during the 80s – but the overall approach is still very similar, and co-performed with Allan Howarth, who always gives Carpenter's music the right sort of careful balance! Carpenter does a lot with just a little – never making things overblown, especially in the way that some of his contemporaries might do – and titles include "Transient Hotel", "Wake Up", "Underground", "A Message", "Return To Church", and "The Siege Of Justiceville". LP, Vinyl record album

2 of the best studio albums from the legendary trumpeter Booker Little – back to back on 1 CD! The first 7 tracks on the set are from the Bethlehem album Booker Little & Friend – a fantastic sextet session recorded in 1961, shortly before Booker Little's death, and filled with all the promise and power he ever packed into his playing! The lineup includes Julian Preister, George Coleman, and Pete La Roca, and the groove is tight modern hard bop all the way through. An excellent album, and one of the best recordings ever on Bethlehem – with tracks that include "Matilde", "Booker's Blues", "Forward Flight", and "Victory and Sorrow". Next up are 6 tracks from the album Booker Little 4 & Max Roach – recorded for United Artists in 1958, at a time when Little was in the Max Roach band. The album is virtually a Max Roach session, as it features regular Roach group members Coleman and Little – plus bassist Art Davis and pianist Tommy Flanagan – all of whom fall perfectly into line behind Roach's masterful drumming on tracks like "Rounder's Mood", "Dungeon Waltz", and "Jewel's Tempo". 13 tracks in all.
