CommodoresHeroes ... LP
Motown, 1980. Sealed Gatefold ... $11.99
The Commodores tenth album – as you might guess from the big X on the cover – and a set that features some of the last great moments of Lionel Richie with the group! The album's a bit overlooked, but has a really great groove – kind of a middle ground between The Commodores' heavier funk and mellower ballads – served up here with the tight instrumentation that always made the group a self-contained standout – and arranged and produced to perfection by the great James Anthony Carmichael. Richie's lead is strong, but understated too – and titles include "Old Fashion Love", "Heroes", "Sorry To Say", "All The Way Down", "Wake Up Children", "Mighty Spirit", and "Celebrate". LP, Vinyl record album
(Sealed copy! Cover has a cutout notch.)

CommodoresMidnight Magic ... LP
Motown, 1979. Near Mint- ... $7.99
Lots of Midnight Magic from The Commdores – still nice and funky at the start of the evening, but also chilling out in the wee hours too – really finding a great way to follow the trajectory of the night with the tracks in this set! The album sparkles with strong arrangements and production from James Carmichael – who furthers the vibe perfected on Natural High, yet continues to avoid most of the cliches that would slow down the group in later years. Lionel Richie's given room to step forth on the ballads "Still" and "Sail On" – but the group feel is still nicely maintained on the rest of the record – which also features the tracks "Getting It", "You're Special", "Wonderland", "Sexy Lady", and "Might Magic". LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes the printed inner sleeve. Cover has a small sticker remnant.)

CommodoresNatural High ... LP
Motown, 1978. Very Good+ ... $7.99
A pivotal album for The Commodores – still very funky here, with a sound that stays true to their roots – yet also able to reach out into some of the mature mellow ballads that would make them a huge crossover act in years to come! James Carmichael arranges and produces here – really helping the group to find that key focus, and make some important use of the vocals of Lionel Richie. Mr R steps out strongly on the crossover hit "Three Times A Lady" – but the whole group more than holds their own on the funky killers "X Rated Movie", "Fire Girl", and "I Like What You Do" – as well as the great mellow groover "Say Yeah". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has light surface wear, bumped corner.)

CommodoresZoom (aka Commodores) ... LP
Motown (UK), 1977. Very Good ... $7.99
A classic self-titled set from The Commodores – not their debut album, but a record that really broke them out of the box and exposed the group to a huge new audience! The album hits perfectly on both sides of the group's strengths – the tight ensemble funk on which they were raised, and some of the sweeter aspects that were showing up as Lionel Richie emerged as the solo male singing star – not nearly as cheesy here as in later years, and a surprisingly nice element to offset the heavier funk. Titles include the funky classic "Brick House", the mellow hit "Easy", and the cuts "Squeeze The Fruit", "Zoom", "Funky Situation", "Won't You Come Dance With Me", "Funny Feelings", "Heaven Knows", and "Patch It Up". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has light wear.)

Thelma Houston/CommodoresDon't Leave Me This Way/Fancy Dancer ... 12-inch
Motown, 1976. Very Good+ (pic cover)... $5.99
The a-side hardly needs any introduction from us, an uplifting disco cut, with soaring, string-laden Gamble & Huff production, and the sort of mainstream appeal that's kept it in constant roatation for years and years! "Fancy Dancer" is from the Comodores heavier funk years, off the Hot onThe tracks LP. 12-inch, Vinyl record
(Cover has a cutout notch, some surface wear & aging.)

KliqueTry It Out ... LP
MCA, 1983. Sealed ... $9.99
A wicked set of electro soul from Klique – a trio who've got a lot more to offer than some of their 80s groove contemporaries! The backings are a bit more electric than the funk of their roots, but the overall groove is graced with very strong vocals from the trio of Howard Huntsberry, Debbie Hunter, and Isaac Suthers – who alternate lead and backgrounds, in a way that gives the record the fuller feel you might hear from a group like One Way! The trio get some great help on production and arrangements from Thomas McClary of The Commodores – who brings in all that group's best early modes here – on titles that include "Try It Out", "Burning Hot", "Honey", "Stop Doggin Me Around", "Flashback", "Inside Me", and "Tender Footed". LP, Vinyl record album
(Still sealed! Cover has a cutout notch with spot of open shrink, promo stamp, marker on shrink, corner bump.)

Lionel RichieCan't Slow Down (Deluxe Edition) ... CD
Motown, 1983. Used 2CD ... $19.99
One of Lionel Richie's biggest records ever – presented in a super-huge expanded version! The original album from 1983 is offered here, along with single remixes of some of the tracks on the album (2 in instrumental versions), plus a full CD of previously unissued demos, alternate takes, and session jams. These are probably the best of the bunch – as they really show a side of Lionel that you never get on record – less smooth, a bit more spontaneous, more like the artist that we first came to know from his great work in the Commodores. Titles include "Can't Slow Down", "All Night Long", "Penny Lover", "All Night Long (inst)", "The Only One", "Running With The Night", "Hello", "The Groove", "Love Will Find A Way", "Stuck On You", and "Running With The Night (inst)". CD
(Out of print and still sealed with slipcase! Small sticker over barcode.)

Motown, 1960s/1970s/1980s/1990s. New Copy 11CDs ... $99.99 169.99
An amazing package – one that comes in a tiny replica of the original home of Motown Records in Detroit! As you'd guess from the title, the 11CD set features every single Motown track that ever hit #1 on the charts – almost 200 classic songs, running from the early 60s right up through the 90s – with work by The Temptations, Four Tops, Diana Ross, Boyz II Men, The Contours, Rockwell, The Originals, Marvin Gaye, The Marvelettes, Stevie Wonder, High Inergy, The Dazz Band, Rick James, Commodores, and lots more! The package also includes a photo book with classic images and notes – but man, what we dig most of all is that tiny house of hits packaging – a really amazing thing! Plus, this version of the set also features a bonus CD that wasn't in the original version – with 12 more tracks whose cover versions charted at #1! CD

✨✧ VariousOur Lives Are Shaped By What We Love – Motown's MoWest Story 1971 to 1973 ... CD
Motown/MoWest/Light In The Attic, Early 70s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
The first ever compilation of the best music made for MoWest – the eclectic, but still soulful cuts made when Berry Gordy Jr. relocated from Motown to the west coast in the early 70s – releasing cool and sometimes strange music with a soul background, yet toasted by LA sunshine! The MoWest subsidiary lasted just a few years, and gets overlooked in the canonization of Motown at it's most classic and revolutionary – but the legacy is pretty incredible. Funk, sunshine rock and soul fused adventurously by a stunningly diverse roster – late period Frankie Vallie & The Four Seasons (who's comp-opening track is a slept on sunshine pop-soul classic), breezy-jazzy-soul from Odyssey, the sister funk of Sisters Love, a stunning solo left turn from Spinners singer GC Cameron and more great stuff from Syreeta, The Commodores, Suzee Ikeda, Thelma Houston and others. We've been dying for a well selected MoWest comp like this for years, and Light In The Attic stepped to the plate and knock it right out of the park. The songs choices are great, the notes are great. . .everything about it is a win. Essential! Includes "You're A Song (That I Can't Sing)" and "The Night" by Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, "Our Lives Are Shaped By What We Love" and "Broken Road" by Odyssey, "Don't You Be Worried" by The Commodores, "A Heart Is A House" Nu Page, "I Ain't Going Nowhere" by Thelma Houston, "I Can't Give Back The Love I Feel For You" by Suzee Ikeda, "You've Got To Make The Choice" and "Give Me Your Love" by The Sisters Love and more.
