ChrisBowden & 4-Hero —
Hero/Lullaby ... 12-inch Satellite (UK), 1997. Very Good+ (pic cover)...
Out Of Stock
A beautiful set of soundscapes from ChrisBowden and the legendary 4-Hero! Although this is a 12" single, both sides have an awesome majesty to them – reaching forth with a scope and power far beyond any dance track. Indeed, both sides are more sound sculptures, in the manner of Bowden's Time Capsule LP – and they both extend beautifully past any expectations! 12-inch, Vinyl record
With Ken Colyer on trumpet, Monty Sunshine on clarinet, Chris Barber on on trombone, Tony Donnegan on banjo, Jim Bray on bass, and Ron Bowden on drums. LP, Vinyl record album
A heady blend of jazz and larger elements – served up by Austin Peralta in a style that's a bit ahead of its time! The music here recalls recent sounds from the London scene, or some of the post-jazz experiments of International Anthem – but Peralta also takes things back to earlier spiritual expressions too – recalling Max Roach with strings, the work of ChrisBowden, and some other favorite spots along the way. The set features some especially great reed work – by Zane Musa on alto and Ben Wendel on tenor and soprano – and there's some nice reworking of core sounds by Strangeloop, and even a guest appearance by the Cinematic Orchestra too! Titles include "The Underwater Mountain Odyssey", "Capricornus", "Lotus Flower", "Ode To Loev", and "Algiers". 2LP version includes four bonus tracks from a BBC session! LP, Vinyl record album

Daniel Casimir —
Boxed In ... LP Jazz Refreshed (UK), 2022. New Copy 2LP ...
Out Of Stock
You might know London bassist Daniel Casimir from his work in the group of Nubya Garcia – but this stunning debut shows a side of his talents we never would have expected – a really visionary performance that has Casimir really exploding both a composer and musician! There's a core group here that features Garcia on tenor – along with Moses Boyd on drums, James Copus on trumpet, and Al Macsween on keyboards – but Daniel also adds in these brilliant larger arrangements that use horns and strings to really give the album a soaring, righteous sort of power – maybe some of the energy that we loved in the early work of ChrisBowden, but much more contemporary too. An instant classic – with titles that include "New Waters", "Boxed In", "Get Even", "Your Side", "The Truth", "Rewind The Time", and "Safe". LP, Vinyl record album
A wonderful setting for the talents of UK saxophonist Sean Khan – a set that features some great tracks from the John Coltrane songbook, plus original material too – all served up in that cosmic version of future jazz that we've loved from some of Sean's previous albums! Yet there's also a richness here that goes beyond those – a sense of larger arrangements that really brings a sort of majesty to the record – a vibe that has Khan continuing the legacy of London contemporaries like Nathan Haines and ChrisBowden on some of their best recordings! The album also features work from older greats Peter King on alto sax and Jim Mullins on guitar, and the Cinematic Orchestra's Heidi Vogel adds lyrics to a few tunes too. Titles include "Cousin Mary", "Equinox", "Impressions", "Giant Steps", "Moment's Notice", "Savage Detectives", "Love Supreme", "Starchild", "Afro Blue", "Emilia's Pick", "Azawala", and "Naima". 3LP set features bonus material – Kaidi Tatham remixes of "Starchild" and "Azawala". LP, Vinyl record album

Webster Wraight Ensemble —
No Lucky Days ... CD Miso/Heavenly Sweetness (France), 2013. Used ...
Out Of Stock
A really stunning collaboration between Charles Webster and Peter Wraight – the former mostly known for his house music, the latter an arranger for the Herbert big band sessions – coming together here in a lush new sound that's totally their own! There's an expansive feel to the record that definitely lives up to the cover – a rich landscape of sound, but also a bit misty at times too – never just a straight representation of Wraight's jazz and soundtrack modes, and instead this very textured, painter-like approach to music – one that's shimmering with beautiful tones and soulful vocals from Emilie Chick and Paul Randolph. Webster handles the keyboards and samples, and Wraight conducts a large group with reeds, brass, and even a bit of harp – and the record's got a far-reaching sound that's very unique, but which might sit nicely next to projects by Cinematic Orchestra or ChrisBowden. Titles include "A World Of Fire", "Rise", "Storm Clouds", "Unexpected News", "Nature & Light", and "The Ruins Of Britain". CD
