Stelvio CiprianiBuitres Sobre La Ciudad (Avvoltoi Sulla Citta) ... CD
Chris' Soundtrack Corner (Germany), 1980. New Copy ... $22.99
The cover's black and white, but the music is very colorful – sweet 70s sounds in the best style that we love from Stelvio Cipriani – which includes some especially great use of keyboards and piano! Many of these tracks have that mellow funk mode that really set Cipriani apart from the rest of the 70s Italian scene – tracks that can move slow, yet still have a nice punch – thanks to great use of electric basslines, and just the right space on the keyboards! The CD is done in the usual super-high quality that we love from Chris Soundtrack Corner – with excellent sound, great packaging, and a total of 21 tracks from the original score. CD

Stelvio CiprianiEcologia Del Delitto (Bay Of Blood) (with bonus tracks) ... CD
Chris' Soundtrack Corner (Germany), 1971. New Copy ... $19.99
One of the coolest 70s soundtracks from the great Stelvio Cipriani – served up here with a huge amount of bonus tracks too! The music here was scored for a Mario Bava horror film, but it often has a quality that's more lean and lovely overall – that current of sex that we always love in Ciprani's best work, and which made him a key force for transforming the Italian bossa and jazz soundtrack style of the 60s into something completely new for the 70s! There's a lot of sweet keyboards in the music – as you'd expect from Stelvio – but there's also some cool rootsy percussion, which creates a nice juxtaposition between acoustic and electric, especially as things get a bit spookier near the end. Titles include "Ultimo Atto", "Solitudine Di Simone", "Teenagers Cha Cha Cha", "Due Amanti", "Evelyn Theme", "Shake Giradischi", and "Un Cadavere Nel Lago". CD features 31 tracks in all – including 11 never-issued bonus tracks! CD

Stelvio CiprianiOrgasmo Nero (Sex & Black Magic/Voodoo Baby/Black Orgasm) ... CD
Chris' Soundtrack Corner (Germany), 1981. New Copy ... $19.99
A sweet sexy jungle soundtrack – issued for a film that appeared with many different erotic titles – but only this one great set of grooves from Stelvio Cipriani! Given the island setting of the narrative, there's a good amount of acoustic percussion in the mix – congas and other instruments used in ways that really work nicely with the keyboards and guitar – at a level that often comes off with a sort of sweet exotica funk approach! The style is almost a mix of Stelvio's usual groove with the 70s experiments of Mandigo – with a vibe that's completely sublime all the way through, and every bit as arresting as the image on the cover. And as usual with Cipriani, the mellow cuts are as great as the funky ones – a perfect and careful use of the best electric elements, all without ever going too far over the top – or ever sounding too clunky or commercial. CD features 28 tracks in all, and some great notes too! CD

Stelvio CiprianiScorticateli Vivi (Skin Em Alive) (with bonus tracks) ... CD
CAM/Chris' Soundtrack Corner (Germany), 1979. New Copy ... $22.99
Stelvio Cipriani at his funkiest – taking all the lessons learned from his slinky, erotic sounds of the early 70s – and turning them into a mix of sweet sounds with a great late 70s vibe! Some tracks are upbeat and almost have a clubby feel, others have a great slow-stepping approach to funk – and there's a few others that are moodier, mellower instrumentals – of the sort that Stelvio first rose to fame with – but often with as much acoustic elements and percussion as his usual sweet keyboard work! Titles include the previous single – "Chicago USA" and "Percussion Gun" – both very funky tracks with a similar theme – mixed with lots of other unreleased numbers, including "Spanish Nights In Black Satin", "Lyonesse", "Changing Face", "Chicago USA 2", The Predator", "Crazy Town", and a number of other tunes with variations on the title "Scorticateli Vivi". Stelvio CiprianiSecond Spring ... CD
CAM/Chris' Soundtrack Corner (Germany), 1975. New Copy ... $22.99
A great little soundtrack – one that's in a mode that might well be our favorite from the Italian scene of the early 70s – a style that's funky and breezy at once, dreamy and groovy, and delivered with instrumental inflections that still have us scratching our heads at the process! Stelvio Cipriani is at his best here – even though the set has more acoustic piano instead of electric – as his role at the help is superb, as he works through light percussion, warm horn arrangements, slight strings, and other cool elements that perfectly balance between bossa and jazz, cinema and lounge, all with an organic, effortless quality that hangs tight throughout all the tracks on the record. Eddie Constantine sings on two tracks, but most numbers are instrumental – and titles include "Ricordi Nel Bosco", "Second Spring", "Tema Di Anna", "Fantasia Tragica", and "It Was A Dream". CD

VariousMetralleta Stein (with bonus tracks) ... CD
Chris' Soundtrack Corner (Germany), 1974. New Copy (reissue)... $22.99
A single soundtrack – but one that features killer work from a host of the best Italian composers of the scene at the time – including Stelvio Cipriani, Carlo Rustichelli, and Daniele Patucchi – all of whom come up with some great electric funk for the set! The mix of composers makes for a nicely wide sound – and it's as if everyone brought their best few tracks to the session – picking out the sort of choice funky and jazzy numbers that usually are the standout tracks on other Italian film scores – working together here to make one heck of a mighty record! Titles include "Night Mood", "Chicago 80", "Santos Club", "Mato Grosso", "Verso L'Ignoto", "Il Mio Sguardo E Uno Specchio", "Tema Di Anna", and "Il Giardino Degli Angeli". CD features bonus tracks too – "Il Gioco Del Taddeu" and "Il Mio Sguardo E Uno Specchio #2". CD

✨✧ Riz OrtolaniSi Puo Essere Piu Bastardi Dell'Ispettore Cliff (with bonus track) ... CD
Sugar/Chris' Soundtrack Corner (Germany), 1973. New Copy (reissue)... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A fantastic funky soundtrack from Riz Ortolani – quite different than some of his bigger hits of the 60s, and full of heavy basslines and lots of great drums! The style here is in the best cop/crime mode of the time – but has even more blacksploitation grit at the bottom than the usual Italian work of the period – with a rawness that really rivals some of the best funky scores by Americans like Johnny Pate or Don Julian – although overall, there's maybe an even higher funk quotient to this record than some of their classics! Take it from us – we're not ones to casually use terms like this – and we really mean it when we say that this rare Italian gem from 1973 might well have you putting aside your copies of Shaft, Superfly, and Black Caesar! CD features the bonus track "Romance Anonimo" – plus 19 more tracks from the film. CD

✨✧ Guido & Maurizio De AngelisIl Grande Racket (with bonus tracks) ... CD
Chris' Soundtrack Corner (Germany), 1976. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Fierce funky sounds from Guido & Maurizio DeAngelis – a duo who turned out some of the grooviest music on the Italian cop/crime scene of the 70s! The set's a killer right from the very first note – full of fuzz and funk, and lots of heavy rhythms at the bottom – all in a mode that's free from some of the disco touches that came into Italian cinema a few years later – and served up in these short, sharp tunes that pack a hell of a lot of punch into a very short space! The basslines are nicely offbeat – never just copping an American funk mode, but instead in this very driving, dramatic Italo-crime mode that's totally wonderful – that sense of urgency that can only come from a rooftop fight in Rome, or a car chase down the streets of Milano. Titles include "Caccia All'Uomo", "Visioni", "Il Grande Racket", "Ultimo Inseguimento", "The Taste Of Love", and "Seconda Allucinazione". CD features lots of bonus tracks – 37 titles in all! CD

✨✧ Vince Guaraldi TrioCharlie Brown Christmas ... LP
Fantasy, 1965. Near Mint- ... Just Sold Out!
An amazing record – one with a depth that goes way beyond its simple roots, and which has gone on to become one of the true Christmas classics of the 20th Century! Although a Christmas soundtrack, the album's more of a tapestry of sadness, longing, and loss – the best qualities that always emerge in true Christmas classics – underscoring the blue side of the season that's always lurking around corners from the happier moments. Vince Guaraldi penned this score back when he was a rising talent on the San Francisco scene – and in a way, it was almost his musical contribution to the cartoon that made it such a lasting favorite – even over and above the appeal of the famous animated characters. Most tunes are simple piano ones, but played with a phrasing that's beautifully timeless – and the few vocal numbers feature voices from the cartoon, singing softly with the music. Titles include the classic "Linus and Lucy" – plus "My Little Drum", "Christmas Is Coming", "Christmas Time Is Here", "Skating", and "Fur Elise". LP, Vinyl record album

This 50th Anniversary edition features the core album, a replica of the 1965 book by Charles Schultz, and four double-sided postcards – similar to those from the early Fantasy Records version! Also includes the bonus CD Peanuts Portraits – key character themes penned and played by the legendary Vince Guaraldi, in a set of recordings that features both acoustic piano and Fender Rhodes! A few cuts get really funky, too – the electric numbers, which remind us that back when we were wee ones, watching these cartoons, Guaraldi was already shaping our consciousness with his great way with a groove. The package is one that really gets right to the heart of Guaraldi's genius – and shakes free of some of the holiday spirit of other Peanuts jazz packages, to get into some incredibly groovy numbers that include "Peppermint Patty", "Joe Cool", "Charlie's Blues (variation)", "Blue Charlie Brown (version 2)", "Frieda (alternate)", "Little Birdie", and "Schroeder (alternate)" – plus the famous "Linus & Lucy". CD
(A great package for the price – nicely oversized, too!)
